Rarely do you see a football team successfully juggle a triangle of quarterbacks as evidenced by the recent move of Robert Johnson to WR. Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Rojo catch a few over the middle and get physical with a couple of corner backs? I would say he should be in the mood.
A head to head duel was about to unfold again with the two QBs that were left standing when one moment Casey (Dick) flashed signs of brilliance by passing the Hogs out of the shadow of their own goalposts and the next moment launched an errant pass about as wide left and high as a Florida State field goal – over a wide open Peyton Hillis near the goal line. (I know, FSU’s are usually wide right).
Now, that touchdown would have made it interesting going into Vandy – a tandem QB attack? Naaww, I never liked that either. Need ‘em both to stay healthy though and continue to improve while the running game is on fire. The Hogs – any football team for that matter needs to have two guys that can do the job. This football team has that potential blooming in front of packed houses these days. You do however, need to finally hang your hat on your “leader”. That is becoming more evident and will be decided this Saturday in Nashville potentially for the rest of the season. Will it be Casey D. or M16 “saviour” (as a red body painted dude in the student section advertised)?
Vandy in 8 quarters of football has scored only 17 points but has also only given up 40 – 27 of those to Michigan. Bama had to battle from behind to eek out a win in front of 92,000+ semi stunned fans. By comparison the Razorbacks have given up just a few more points but threw up a “goose-egg” against Utah State albeit they are a team that has not scored on offense in two games. A shutout is a shutout – an infield hit looks like a line drive in the paper and does wonders for morale and confidence.
Vandy is beginning to smell like that proverbial "snake in the grass" that is poised and ready to bite somebody soon. Arkansas needs to come out with their most serious SEC “attitude” and score first and often in Nashville and continue their defensive improvement. Could well be another “goose-egg” if a couple more young linebackers grow up Saturday.
Great stuff, UnderHog…thanks.
