Our D is just not good.

  2. I couldn't agree more. If rumors are true, early in the season Reggie Herring was belittling Malzahn because of his lack of experience at the college level.

Herring had better get the D-line to raise it to another level or it will be Malzahn who covers his backside…

The secondary is looking good, and I can't complain about the effort of our linebackers, but the front line is porous and leaves enormous running lanes!

AND…where are the turnovers? We won't win without creating some turnovers against the likes of Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Tennessee.

These next few weeks will really show what this Hog team is made of. Mitch is looking better each week and we are seeing a little bit more of Gus each week. As much as I would like to see Nutt go he will probably end up seeing next year. Herring just needs some players, the guys we have out there just can't get the job done and they're the best we have. This makes me miss the days of Hamlin and greatest razorback of all time "Batman" Carroll (insert sarcism here)… ok just Hamlin. We need a playmaker on D to evolve or else we may be in for a long season of missed tackles and limited turnovers….

I do not agree with the tone of Belairhawg much but I do agree with some of you analysis. I do think the thing lacking on defense is a playmaker. Olajabutu is good but his size limits his playmaking ability- as far as turnovers. Actually we could have had a couple today.

Next week. We do not have to combat a running QB I do not think. A little better each week and squeaky wins are okay with me for now. Off week before AUburn. Then a couple of easier games. If we do not lose half our players to injury against Auburn we may be okay. Linebackers will have grown up by then a little. Mitch will be solid.

Joe Kimes still scares me next week. By the way, I do not believe Herring was belittling Malzahn. Although I do think he 'welcomed' him to the SEC. Malzahn can take it and dish it out with the best of them and his payback will come. A little gamesmanship among the coaches is good. As is some tension. Every manager I have ever had said a little conflict is good even within a team.

The only thing that is wrong with our defense right now is our linebackers and our poor tackling. I saw several plays where the line backer did not fill the gap and our DB"s just flat out missed tackles. We need to just get back to the basics in tackling and get our inexperienced linebackers understanding what they have to do and we will be fine.

We are "Bowl bound" boys. Did you check out HDN after this win? He was "giddy". Why? That is simple, this win takes him to .500 for the year, easy! All we have to do now is beat the two non-conference patsies and the two conference patsies (that would be the two Mississippi teams) and "cha-ching" you are 6-6 for the year, bare minimum. Now if you can add South Carolina, you are really rolling and SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDERS begins to play in the background.

My issue with all of this is that I want to see us beat a top 25 team. I want a win against someone who counts. We really need to beat a "real" football team. I want to go to a bowl that means something and personally, I don't think being 6-6 or 7-5 on the year without a win against a top 25 opponent is really all that good.

Now for HDN, it is the bomb! He will keep his job with 6-6 or 7-5, because we will make a bowl and all will be good with the world in the eyes of the SSPs. You know, we could be 6-6 without all of the expanded facilities and the big TV in the stadium. We could be 6-6 every year if we schedule teams like LA Monroe and SE Mo St. Well, I mean most years, since HDN is coaching.

Mark my words, HDN lives to coach another year and it is all due to a slight breeze that stopped the ball from going through the uprights last weekend.

My this Koolaid tastes SO GOOD!!!!
