"What can Brown do TO you?" almost turned into a commercial for a Bama win.
The Hog youth movement certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat. There's some good and then there's still some work to be done out there. However this was one day that the defense found some of that missing gear stopping Darby for 64 yards on 26 carries, several sacks, the first forced turnover touchdown – but still they were on the verge of losing a nail biter to another young QB. It was basically a game of dodging elephant bullets all day long with an unusual consistency.
Something can be said for Friday night Rainbows that hover over DWR stadium. Tell me I'm not the only one that saw that.
Leigh "wide right" Tiffin has been watching too many Florida State replays. He has the strong leg of Father (Ex-Bama kicking hero Van Tiffin) as evidenced by the one long FG he made. But luckily for the Hog Nation – today (unlike his 7-9 priors) – he kicked like a brittle freshman without a hook on his kicks.
M16 will hopefully get a TON of work in the film room evaluating his mostly very freshman-like day. All that to say that he ended up throwing the TD pass for the tie. Look for some evidence of resiliancy there. Should be, cuz he won.
You take this win and "escape" 2-0 in the SEC and go on and work the next two weeks on mixing in a bit more of a short yardage passing game – and keep after developing a kicker and continue to develop linebackers.
There is another way to rack up passing yardage if you let your receivers catch a few short balls and tack on the YAC. (I think that's yards after catch). Surely Gus and Houston Dale will figure this out among other things.
