AP: Broyles: New AD will decide Nutt’s future

Outgoing athletic director Frank Broyles said Thursday night he’ll leave it to his successor to determine whether Houston Nutt should remain Arkansas’ football coach.

[...] Although Broyles is still the athletic director, he said [Jeff] Long will make the call on Nutt.

“It’s going be his decision, absolutely,” Broyles said.

good news if true, unless Long is unwilling to rock the boat so soon. If not, this year will be nothing compared to the uproar in 2008. If Hootie stays, that will mean the email scandal and many other things stayed under the rug.

  2. Cajun Hog says:

I cannot see Nutt coaching Arkansas next year!!!!

  3. Bluffhawg says:

Haven't you heard??? Michigan has lined up a multi year contract to steal hdn away!!!!! Sound more like a good opening for a joke punchline that rumor.

  4. BlindHog says:

Where did you hear that Bluff? You can't be serious.

  5. Bluffhawg says:

I check several message boards daily and two or three of them are going back & forth about it.

Hugger, then haters, huggers, then haters, Blah, blah, blah, blah. BLAH!!!!

NO WAY Michigan would even consider hdn. It's comical!!!

  6. darrell(Hog in LA) says:

Maybe it was Directional School Michigan, you know Eastern or Central. Nutt couldn't be the water boy at Michigan.

  7. GonzoHog says:

I just heard from a buddie of mine, that Nutt is going to resign after the LSU game. I haven't heard anything official yet, but he told me that it was on the news. I'm trying not to show any emotion right now, but it's hard not to be majorly relieved! Speculation is he has about 4 schools interested in him. I 'm chomping at the bit to hear the names of those schools.

  8. GonzoHog says:

Baylor would be perfect for Nutt. He could keep his Texas connections, while racking in tons of 1 and 2 star recruits, not quite good enough to play with the big boys in Texas. The Longhorns, Sooners, Aggies, and Razorback's leftovers will be the "apple of Houston's eye".

hope everyone in ark is happy now you lost a good man just like you lost lou holtz ken hatfield danny ford . i live in fl now but have and always will be a hog fan from outside of the box it looks like hog fans are crazy. i wish we we could have line up on usc and tulsa just for a chance to get a lick in . houston nutt made the present program before that we had nothing all as a result of traitors and fan pressure i wish coach nutt good luck where ever he goes hog fans remember who you are and your values and convictions away from the field 90% of you who were so critical probably never dressed out to play the game

  10. GonzoHog says:

Good analogy there fl hog. It's nice to know the truth for a change. I really didn't know it was all of the negative fans fault. I was so confused for so long. I really did think poor play calling, lying to the fan base about more passing, and blaming the players for the decision making on the field were the problem. How stupid of me to think those very unimportant things could possibly have caused all of these problems we are facing now. I feel so dirty, I think I need to take a shower!

  11. GonzoHog says:

I'm curious fl hog, if all of the coaches you mentioned on your post were ran off by the fan base, was Ron Zook also ran off in Florida by the fan base as well? I suppose they were crazy too, since Urban Meyer won a National Championship with his players. Those crazy people down there are sure wishing they had him back now!

  12. DMON(HOG IN LA) says:

FLA HOG WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? NUTT HAS TO GO END OF STORY, WHY DON'T YOU DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU JUMP ON THIS SITE AND BLAME US FOR NOT WANTING A JR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH. YOU CAN CHEER NUTT NEXT YEAR AT SOME SUB-DIVISION SCHOOL AND PREDICT THE CORRECT PLAYS FROM HOME, I DO IT EVERY WEEK FROM LA. ,

  13. GonzoHog says:

Hogs 45 – Bulldogs 31. Will the Hogs repeat against the Tigers, and lay an egg, or will they somehow find magic in Tigerland? Bama layed an egg at home against La. Monroe, if you can believe that one, so now, word is the Hogs are back in the Cotton Bowl chase again. Didn't we have serious bowl implications when we played the Vols? Oh well, I give up on trying to figure out college football this year. Whatever happens, happens.

  14. GonzoHog says:

I have to admit, I can't stand Bama, and thier $4,000,000 man. They were arrogant enough to believe it was going to be that simple of a fix, and they had the money to do it. It couldn't have happened to a better program, as far as I'm concerned.

  15. T-towner says:

fl hog—-this is not a personal attack on you or your post. Please do let me know how you feel HDN comported himself as regards the treatment of Gus Malzahn and all the Springdale players (they are rather childish, but not for 18 year-olds), the textual relationship with Donna Bragg (1100 text messages in a bit over a month with one right before the kickoff of one of the most boring bowl games in the history of mankind is not normal!) and his incredible denial of any prior knowledge of the email affair involving his wife. This is not about hating the man, but he needs to succeed as a Christian leader of young people or as a coach of a major program in the SEC. In my mind, he failed on both counts.
