Weekly Predictions – LSU

Congratulations to Danielle W. for the closest prediction last week of 40-17.  Her quote: “War Memorial will be rocking.”  Simple…to the point…and very true.  It was a fun game to attend last Saturday…even though Sunshine and I had to go to an alternate location to get our post-game ribs.

For her winning pick, Danielle will be receiving a RBN t-shirt courtesy of Carpenter Clothing Co.  As for the RazorBloggers prediction mini-contest, Sunshine and HogBaller were mathematically eliminated last week.  (No word yet as to whether they will be retained for next year.)  Now the only role they can play is spoiler (sound familiar?): HogBlogger 5, TipsterHog 4, Sunshine and HogBaller…who cares.

So here we go:

LSU TigersWalking on Sunshine: If you have to play LSU, a Friday afternoon after a holiday is about as good as it gets.  LSU has everything to lose, and our guys are playing for their embattled coach. Closer than the experts think.  LSU 35, Arkansas 26.

HogBaller: Is this Houston’s last game?  I don’t know, but the Hogs will use it as motivation to play LSU to the wire and pull off a stunner in Baton Rouge.  Arkansas 34, LSU 31.

HogBlogger: Tough place to play…tough team to play.  LSU is playing for a National Championship, so don’t look for a letdown.  The Hogs may not be sure what (or who) they are really playing for…and that’s a bad combination.  .2 upset probability.  LSU 35, Arkansas 17.

TipsterHog: You may have noticed it’s been a little quiet here at RBN this week.  We pretty much decided to take this holiday week off…because somehow we get the feeling next week might get a little busy around here.  LSU 38, Arkansas 20.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “Miles accidentally sings ‘Hail to the victor’s valiant’ after game” or “Nutt has ‘Happy Trails‘ sung to him after game.  Hogs roll.”

  1. BlindHog says:

This is just not a very good team. Not a single question from last August was ever answered, QB, receiver, offensive line, defense. They have all contributed to big game losses. There is no chance here without tons of help.

    LSU 50-13

  2. Hog 'n Iowa says:

Hogs come out flat, following their every-other-week tendency. LSU turns the game into a yawner before half-time. HDN tries to catch LSU defense off-guard by having D-Mac run off-tackle right, off-tackle left, and up the middle. LSU will not be fooled by this trickeration and stops it cold. The only highlight for Hog defense will be Red Richardson getting 2 personal fouls AND 2 pass-interference penalties (possibly setting season season record).

  4. DieingHog says:

Well I also think the game will be closer then most think and since I haven't got my tee shirt yet lets hope I am right when I say its payback last year about this time we were rideing high this team came in a messed any shot at a championship game up for us so know its our time and just like last year it will be a game of momentum and since Dmac is after that hesiman and this is his last shot to prove he is the best Hogs 32-27 Dmac 210 rushing, 1td pass and 52yrds receiving.

  5. Razorbilly says:

Hogballer picks us to win? This is the same guy that picked us to go 7-5 and now he goes against his original prediction? The only answer is that the prediction must be a misprint. TipsterHog needs to fix this.

  6. GonzoHog says:

TIGERS 28 – HOGS 3. The combination of turnovers, penalties, and overall bad play-calling, will cause the Hogs to fall apart in this one. LSU's defense is too good for this kind of non-since in thier own stadium.

When did LSU become the greatest team ever? They lost 2 KY team that we had on the ropes and let up. They sqeaked one out against AL. What has been said all year will ring true, if we do what we do well, we'll win. If we don't, it could get ugly.

This will be a defensive game. Sorta

The best thing about this game will be, to quote an old country song, "Thank God and greyhound he's gone" Maybe!

  13. Ward_Hog says:

The stars are aligned for this to be an outstanding game. This is possibly the last time Coach Miles and Nutt coach these respective teams in Death Valley. This will also be a great stage for DMac to once again show he's the man. And finally, we're due… I agree with Dieing Hog when he/she said it's payback time. Go Hogs Go. And here's to hoping there is a coach out there who can win over our hearts and make our team better.

  18. HogN_TX says:

End of the regular season and I show a decent performance by DMac (Thank God for DMac being a Hog and giving us all the years he had here.. for something positive) But LSU knows that Nutt is tricky and will try to use DMAC to run thru that line thing in front of him. What a wizard that nuttjob is. LSU then inserts huge roadblocks to stop this effort. Some occasional trips thru this roadblock service road are possible, but most end in flats. The best thing the holidays might bring us in another confirmation we are getting an innovative new coach and replacing our version of an air attack that looks more like the German Lufwaffe in 1946. (yes, a year after the war and non-existent). I do wish Casey well but we'll all be shocked if we see 150 yards or more thru the air. Spread the field (Ol yeah, Frank said that won't work, I forgot) to take some heat off the run and DMac could do very well. We'll see, but I go with Nuttbags history and I hope he wears his underwear backwards on this day.

No stars aligned as it is day game. Sun shines on Tigers as their coach bolts for his alma mater.

    Grant is granted no mercy.

Les goes for it on 4th every series while Nutt tries to impress by going for it on 4th on our side of the field with run up middle.

  22. Useless Hog says:

My initial tendency is to pick an LSU blowout, typical of many games between Hogs and LSU on the Friday after T-day while I'm sitting at my Dad's house and we all get disgusted by about midway thru the 2d quarter as Nutt and his boys lay down again. Everything looks right for the Hogs to play weak and get smacked on National TV once again. But . . . . my gut is telling me DMAC and Felix come alive, Nutt comes alive (he actually does well when back is against the wall), and the Hogs give the Overated Tigers (O-Tigers) a whale of a game. The O-Tigers are strong but not explosive (look at their tailback, what a boring guy to watch run). If DMAC and/or Felix get uncorked early, this could be interesting. But, alas, Nutt's coaching instincts take over late and the Koolaid Hogs (blind followers of Nutt down into a black hole) ultimately lose this one because of no two-minute offense.

    O-Tigers: 29

    Koolaid Hogs: 25

  23. Useless Hog says:

By the way, what is the method of determining the winner? Closest spread of final score? If so, Danielle's 23 points was not as close as a few of us. Closest Hog score? If so, Danielle's 40 point prediction was 5 points off of Hogs 45, whereas Owasso had the Hogs at 42. Can you print the rules again, or does it really matter anyway? At least we have the Cowboys and Romo today . . .

Boys, LSU's luck has run out. Auburn, Bama, Florida anyone?? They could easily be a couple losses worse than they are. They are no doubt much better than us everywhere except at running back. Everything lines up tomorrow, though, and we shock the world.

  38. porkedagain says:

Wow…looking at some of these score predictions of LSU blowing us out makes me wonder if 90% of the country knows a damned thing about football, or if they really watch the games instead of only paying attention to the hype that media outlets spew…this ain't the 60's where teams could stockpile players and dominate all comers…Parity has arrived in college football with the scholarship limitations and that hasnever been more evident than this season's constant shuffling of the rankings from top to bottom…the facts are that there are no dominant teams anymore and the talent separation between teams is minimal across the board…Like Holtz used to say.."Nothing is ever as good as or as bad as it seems"..Why would anyone think LSU would blow us out when they could have easily already lost 4 games themselves?…Where was the so-called overall talent gap between Ark and LSU yesterday?..It wasn't there because it DOESN'T EXIST.

  39. GonzoHog says:

I agree with your statement 100% porkedagain. I think the reason a lot of people made those predictions were based solely on the coaching. Nobody has a problem with the talent Arkansas has.
