I have been looking for the positive. I'm not comfortable giving JP the criticism this record would deserve next year or the year after.

With only 8 players, 5 of them freshmen, they can play with just about anybody until crunch time. There is some talent on the floor, playing some basketball. Next year, with 13 players, who knows. It could be a vast improvement.

Last night's loss was TOUGH. But, this season is not over for at least another week. Just the fact that they are tough enough to fight thru this is very positive. It will tell alot when we see how far they can go.

I gotta say it is quite strange to see so many players on one team suspended at some point during the year. I can't imagine for the long term they appreciate that treatment in such a public way.

Coach P may be in over is head.

That is certainly the way it looks. They tried to fire Nolan after his second year and would have if not for his special circumstances. Next year will tell the tale.

    Blind,

I would agree, but considering Frank is out of the picture now,, and the fact still remains that Nolan proved a lot of people wrong ,after he was able to finally bring in his own players, will be remembered by this administration and taken into consideration strongly.

Remember, Nolan's first season was '85, after Eddie Sutton left for Kentucky, and also remember the Fresh. season for Oliver "Big O" Miller, and the "May-Day" attack was '88, the begining of Nolan's 4th season.

Pelphrey arrived under similar circumstances. Someone elses players, a little bit different system, and a whole lot different mind-set.

If Pelphrey is given the time to bring in more of his kind of players, who fit his style of play, good things could still come about after a couple of more recruiting classes.

The severed ties with Nolan are beginning to mend. That was the first step to getting Arkansas back on track with recruiting. More importantly, it was simply the right thing to do.

I didn't always agree with what Nolan had to say, or some of the things he did, but the man deserved a lot better than what he got in return, and as a result of that, the UofA suffered on the recruiting trail, ecspecially with black recruits.

When was the last time we got a kid from the Memphis area to sign with us before now? Anyone know?

I'll bet John Calipari wasn't complaining too much about it. He was probably grining, singing and dancing all the way to the bank, while at the same time thanking 'ol Frank and coach Richardson for being stupid enough to let this nightmare happen.

One of the things Nolan was famous for saying from time to time was "now that we've created a monster, we have to feed it."

I can still remember that team Nolan inherited back in the day. They were terrible, but seemed to get a little better every season.

For three years he stuck with the system that gave him past sucsess, and on the 4th one, it finally started paying off.

Not to mention, the terrible crises with his daughter dying was happening all at the same time. (I still have great respect for him regarding that situation)

Let's all get behind coach Pelphrey, whether you agree with some of his coaching methods or not, and hope that he can put us back on top in a few years. He's giving all he has, and he deserves our support.

    GO HOGS GO!!!!!
