Ugh. Our Heisman look-a-like QB looked like a true dub today. Hopefully, he will improve before he is done. No passing game. Dropped passes in some cases. No fire power. No ground game. This game had no resemblance to what you guys have been telling us about this high powered offense. Just like last year, reports were prior to the season that Hogs would roll but they were rolled over. Ugh! Very little good plays called. Did Alabama really burn us 35-7? Was that just a bad dream and we really won the game?

What are our excuses? The talent? No way. There was no coached team on the field. Sure am glad that we were not playing UCA. Would have gotten killed by them, too.

Killer…you see, there is this thing called an opponent. Sometimes, an opponent is much better and experienced than you. When that happens, at times you may not be able to establish a ground game, protect your QB, and give up some big plays. This is what happened today.

There is a reason Bama has won 15 of their last 17. They are a good team, with a terrific defense. Combine that with 92000 fans and a bunch of sophmores, not a good environment for the Hogs. In my opinion, the biggest problem today was the punt team, penalties, and oline. There are a lot of positives; for the most part we played well against the run, and were able to hang with them in the first half, despite some killer penalties and a horrible punting game.

Lots of good things to build upon. The experience they gained today will really help them the rest of this season.

We are a very young team.

We talk way too much for our talent level.

Mallett is not ready to talk about the NFL after starting 14 college football games. He will be back next year, maybe the year after.

Our remaining scholarships need to go to defense.

This young team will get better.

  6. GonzoHog says:

With the exception of the 'Bama TD run that included 4 missed tackles by the Hog D, I thought the run defense actually played pretty well yesterday.

I could tell some of our young offensive players, like Grag Childs, had a hard time adjusting to the pressure of the crowd/noise level and a dominating Tide defense.

They're not ready for the bigtime just yet, but I can still remember how terrible we were about this time last season.

We are still improved as a team so far, and will continue to get better.

Texas A&M isn't near the team Alabama is. There defense is about the same as ours, and I would still give our offense an edge over theirs, just because we still have a better QB.

I can't remember the name of A&M's last oppponent, but I do remember them being a no-name team that had already scored 30 points before the game was over. I remember seeing the score was A&M-37, That other team-30, sometime in the 2nd half.
