Game Predictions — Texas A&M

Congratulations to opinionatedblowhard for the closest prediction last week of 35-14.  His quote: “Tide rolls on to chance at National Championship.  Hogs roll towards Shreveport.  Willy is rolled out of town.”

A tough one last week, for sure.  But you forgot: “Nolan rolled out as new WNBA coach.”  Now THAT would’ve been a very impressive prognostication.

Blowhard should be receiving an RBN t-shirt soon whose neutral color complements pretty much any other article of clothing.  Like we always say…life is way too complicated to worry about matching things in the morning.

If you need a quick refresher on how we judge the winner of our little weekly contest, you can check the rules here.  So here we go:

Texas A&M AggiesWalking on Sunshine: This one has all the makings of a shootout, as A&M leads the nation in total offense (574.3 ypg).  This time, the Hogs enter the game as the ‘tested one.’  Whoever gets the ball last wins.  Arkansas 41, Texas A&M 34.

HogBaller: The Hogs enjoy their trip to ‘Jerry World’ and ride all the rides, while they continue to show improvement on defense.  And special teams is still…well, ‘special.’  But the offense gets back on track and looks more balanced as the running game comes out of hiding.  Arkansas 48, Texas A&M 24.

HogBlogger: Hogs see this as a must-win.  The pressure is on.  Arkansas 35, Texas A&M 28.

TipsterHog: Admittedly, the Razorbacks would lose big time to A&M in a game of horse from the third deck of Kyle Field.  But the Aggies are still just a little bit behind the Hogs in their football rebuilding efforts.  Arkansas 30, Texas A&M 20.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “Sherman burns down stadium…teams play in parking lot” or “Farmers Fight…get ‘Whooped.’  Hogs roll.”

  1. Carolina Hog says:

Hogs 28-24. I'd like to blow their asses out but I'll settle for a W at this point. I think "sunshine" nailed by pointing out that this time we are the tested team.

    • What's it matter if you're a tested team if you've failed both tests miserably? F's across the board the last 2 weeks, and this one as well. Arkansas has a QB that completes half his passes…a TERRIBLE all around defense and a weak ground game. The Ags score more and have a better defense. To hell with tests…Arkansas can only handle FCS foes..they feast on em. Aggies win this one in THEIR home state. The Hogs will leave embarassed just like they did when Bucknell blew em out in Dallas in the NCAA's…back when they couuld make the dance. Aggie win..Whooop!

  2. OwassoHog says:

Hogs come out firing on both offensive and defensive… Hogs 48-27!

  3. I Like Pigs says:

    Hogs – 34

    ags – 24

    Michael Smith breaks out!

  4. Adam says:

there were over 90 points put up in the Georgia game… I see this as coming close

    Arkansas 49

    Aggies 44

  5. Scott says:

I just want a win…. I'm hoping that because they're as young as we are, not tested… on the road… in "Jerry's World"… that we might have an edge…

    Hogs 48

    A&M 38 – a couple of late scores

  6. MexiHog says:

This game could be close, and it will be in the beginning, but our tested defense will show even more improvements and adjustments.

    Hogs 45

    TA&M 28

  7. NielsBoar says:

Huge game. A loss sends us further into oblivion. A win builds a huge amount of confidence. I predict we turn things around.

Hogs 45 – 14. Just like Tulsa, A&M offense sputters against a quality opponent.

    • Aggies – 45, Hogs – 40. Arkansas hangs their hats on the other 11 teams in their conference, due to their lack of success. Zero outright titles, zero BCS games, zero heisman winners. As far as quality opponent, we'll see one next week in Oklahoma State..the same team that smashed Georgia. So much for SEC speed an strength. When Arkansas does something of note, they'll gain respect..until then, enjoy the constant losing, excuses, and "wait til next year". Gig Em AGGIES!

      • Hog Fan In Tn says:

um I think you can shut your mouth now after we whopped some of your aggie tail

      • Oops says:

Ooooooooops! @ss Beat Down! I like how good Texas A$Ms offense is. #1 in the nation. I don't know how Arkansas' horrible defense stoped them. aggies finish below Baylor in the South. Really, I hope they are better then they made out. Cant wait for the Auburn game!

  8. Vegasdad818 says:

    45-38 Hogs Win

Running Games gets rolling, defense steps up and only gives up 2 Big plays for TD. It's a start.

  9. Smedlap says:

    Hogs 26

    Aggies 22

Despite Hogs rebuilding effort, Aggies find way to screw things up.

    GO HOGS!

  10. Michael S. says:

HOGS 48 Shermans Army 46- Tejada nails a 3 from 45 yards to win it with 6 secs left

  11. Nuclearhog says:

    SEC Tested Offense Hogs: 37

    SEC Tested Defense Aggies: 23

  12. oldskooljt says:

Hopefully this isn't just wishful thinking…

    Hogs 34

    Aggs 31

  13. HogNEdmond says:

Should be a high-scoring matchup. Key will be whether Mallett has time to set up and throw. I think he will more times that not, which would be bad news for the weak Aggie pass D.

    Hogs 42

    Aggies 33

  14. Ag-in-GA says:

Hogs won't be able to handle our duel threat QB Aggies-34 Hogs-31

    • I have to agree with you about the score of QB Aggies-34 Hogs -31 because our defense don't know how to tackel at all. Unless they come out knocking the crap out of the Aggies Hogs will loose big time. Of course you can't count out the SEC Refrees at all. They blew 3 calls on the hogs on the offensive interfering big time. Hogs can't win at all as long as the Refree's keep Ar. Hogs out of the game. Now if the calls are good than AR. Hogs has a big chance to win. Hogs-34 Aggies-31. This is of course if the Refrees stay out of the came and quite pinalizing us for every little thing that they dream up for a call.

I hate the SEC Refrees big time. They need to go back to Refree school big time. I think the SEC Refree are the old SWC Refrees that we had we were in the SWC since that conference is not any more unfortnally we got them in The SEC. Bad news all around big time.

  15. Okay, so…in honor of this momentous occasion, I'm giving you a delightful glimpse into the "division" that is our household right now.

According to Russ: "Hog fans seem to be pumped up on their SEC-edness right now. There's no such thing as 'good by association' or 'moral victories'. The Razorbacks haven't beaten a Division 1-A team this year. BTHO Arkansas!! Aggies 44, Hogs 38."

From my five year-old ever-so-slightly-opinionated daughter (when asked who she would be cheering for this weekend): "The Razorbacks, of course! Because Arkansas has Tusk and Boss Hog and that Woo Pig Soopie thing. …And we DO live in Arkansas, Mom. Hogs 28, Aggies 27."

I see this one being a close one. As in: pace-the-living-room/slam-a-few-adult-beverages close. I say Arkansas 45, Aggies 42. Of course, with that prediction comes the possibility that I'll be viewing things from the neighbors' house. Eee.

  16. CoastalHog says:

Texas A&M 56 – Arkansas 24 – Arkansas defense folds like a cheap lawn chair. Sorry guys, but thats how I see it. Arkansas gives up big plays and gives Aggies great field postion because we kick like girls. See you at Jerrys!

  17. Ag-in-GA says:

I like the Hogs, but they keep talking about how proven they are. The only thing they have proven is that they can beat a crappy GA. D and a Div. 1-AA team. Am I wrong w/ anything I have stated here?

  18. Hawgfan100 says:

I do not like the Waggies; used to be on the fence about 'em but that cheatin' scum Jackie Sherrill sealed the deal. The hogs can point to more than playing Georgia and beating Mo St. We've also played the #3 team in the country in their house. Although the results were predictable, the experience is what we're talking about, yes? Rarely does anyone learn anything by winning; typically you learn the hard lessons about yourself by losing. By that measure, A&M doesn't really know anything about itself and the Hogs have learned plenty.

Arkansas has played on the road in the SEC; A&M has played at home against…who was it you played against again exactly?

The Hogs have been in a tough tight game against a good team and performed well (Georgia, which would spank A&M up and down the field, even at College Station).

The Hogs have also experienced a loss of faith in themselves, which, once experienced, shouldn't happen again. A&M is going to wish Arkansas hadn't already had this experience by the end of Saturday's game…;^)

If you've been paying attention, the key word used thus far is 'experience'. The Hogs have seen the highs and lows thus far and will be a better team for it. A&M has only feasted on sacrificial lambs in the friendly confines and should suffer for it come Sat. We'll see…do come back after the game and give us your .02 worth.

  19. Ward_Hog says:

    Hogs–41

    A&M—24

I'm with Neils. They haven't played anyone, just like Tulsa last year. We give up a couple big plays, but we DOMINATE. I am excited to see how fast our offense will be on that turf! Wilson gets playing time, but Mallet will get at least 3 TDs. Our 3rd down percentage looks a lot better this week.

    GO HOGS GO!

  20. T-towner says:

I came close on the Mo State game and have been miserable since. The Georgia game started well for me and the Hogs, but the second quarter fiasco lingers. What to think? Our offense will have its way all night long:

    Arkansas 55

    Texas A&M 24

  21. AZ Desert Hog says:

Remember the days of those lame Aggie jokes? The Ags' opening schedule is an even bigger joke than the Razorback defense this year. Hogs are desperate, and the Ags think they're better than they really are. DWR Razorback Stadium south, here we come!

    Hogs — 45

    Aggies — 31

  22. blake says:

Razorback Stadium West for years to come!

    Hogs 49

    Aggies 28

  23. uvahog says:

    Ark: 38

    A&M: 21

Hogs jump to big lead early, while the defense, continuing to improve, allows a couple big plays in the second half.

  24. Hogheavan says:

42-40 A&M wins it. I don't see our 107th ranked pass def. stopping them. Hope I'm wrong.

  25. Waldron Hog says:

    Hogs 38

    A&M 35

This is a close one but we manage to win.

  35. HatfieldEra says:

Solid improvement in all three phases.

Right now the Hogs are due.

    Bobby's work is in progress.

    May take time…but it's true.

  36. GonzoHog says:

The Hogs run-defense is better than most give them credit for.

With the exception of the 52 yard run by 'Bama's Freshman RB, Richardson, the Hogs allowed less than 3 yards per carry to the 'Bama RBs.

'Bama ran better against VT in their very 1st game of the season.

Georgia was a hell of a lot better team than what they showed in their 1st game against OSU. The refs didn't do them any favors either when it came down to the calls that mattered most.

The Aggies haven't played anyone worth mentioning, and at home to boot, so what they've done so far matters very little when it comes down to proving anything.

I think the Aggies have a formidible offense, so they will score some points. I just don't believe they're as good as they think they are.

The Hogs will score points in bunches and excell in both the running and passing game.

The Aggies will not be explosive, and will be limited on what they do on offense. Their D won't be able to stop much against the Hogs.

Their best bet is that the Hogs stop themselves.

    Hogs win 43-24.

  37. Tim says:

    Razorbacks 27, Aggies 14

  38. ARK Hogs -32 Aggies- 24

I can't stand the SEC Refrees they screw the Hogs one way or another way all the time. The SEC Refrees is probably the Old SWC Refrees they couldn't do it either. It is ashame that our Hogs have to fight against 11 football players and not have to deal with the Refrees. I just wish the game be called correctly and no miss up by the SEC Refreees.

  39. Anonymous says:

  42. Hawgfan100 says:

If I were any of the Waggie fans who posted here, I'd hang my head in shame and embarrassment. Ya'll did take notice of what happened after A&M jumped out to 10 point lead, right? That's why being 'battle-tested' and having 'experience' matters much more than padding your stats on over-matched opponents.

TexasAGGIEinAR, can I get a gig 'em, Waggies!? Also, start practicing 'Wait 'til next year' in the mirror.
