Alex Tejada kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime to give Arkansas a 20-17 win in the Liberty Bowl on Saturday night.

    Good…I’d prefer to sneak up on people to start the season next year. However, I would also like to finish recruiting strong again this year. I believe we will.

    Way to go, Boys!!! I don’t mind if it was fugly: just remember all the ‘big boys’ have had their fuglies too and were glad of them!!! Thanks for a great season and for matching my ‘best case’ record for the season!!! GO HOGS GO!!!

    Not a bad showing considering we haven’t played a game in over a month and the frigid conditions.

    After being a harsh critic of Willy all season, I was impressed by his adjustments over the course of the game. Our defense finally won a game for us, even if was a non SEC team, albeit the top C-USA team.

    I think given Mallett’s average game hurts any prospect of him going in the draft. Lots of things to look forward to next year!

    It doesn’t feel as though we “won” anything. The ECU kicker must be kicking himself after missing three straight FGs.

    For the Hogs offense: 0-13 on third-down. One (count em, 1) offensive TD.

    The Hogs defense “won” this game. Who’da thunkit? The Pirates outplayed the Hogs in every phase of the game except FGs.

    The feeling was much better last year after beating LSU in the final game while failing to qualify for a bowl. Despite Petrino’s claims to the contrary, the Hogs were not prepared to win this game.

    As Razored says, media hype should not be a problem when preparing for next season. And this is good. Perhaps the players will focus on improving their game.

    Our line play was pretty horrible.

    Thank goodness Matt Harris was sent home and his replacement scored seven points and had a heckuva game.

    Glad Tejada finally made it when it counted, although the other kickers tally for the night made Tejada’s 2 for 3 look quite the pro.

    Matt didn’t even play up to SEC standards tonight much less the NFL. He needs to get his head out of the sky and get his ass to work. Quit bitchin at your receivers as much would be a good New Years Resolution as well.

    I will take any win in a bowl game. Our bowl record is pathetic. Congrats to Tejada for making a clutch kick.

    I must be the only one who thought this was a horrible game all around. The interceptions were thrown right to our guy it was no way we should have missed them. Mallet please go to the NFL because from what I have been hearing Brandon Mitchell is the truth. He can run and pass. I think I have said it before and I will continue to say that Mallet chokes in big game situations. Look back over the season Florida (choke most of the game), Bama (choke), The Rebels (choke),and tonight CHOKE. Their offense did what they wanted all night with the exception of there FG kicker this would have been an easy win for them.

    Interesting… 10 points on defensive with a winning field goal but NO offensive fire power… who would have thought it would turn out this way!

    Personally, I’m still blaming our poor performance on a poor bowl! Lets see… nasty weather in Memphis or great weather inside of a dome stadium in Dallas (even if it is associated with the Cowboys). Better yet… how about some of the BCS locations… come on Hogs – let’s BCS next year!

    Not even close…as for Mallett being a ‘choker’. How many catchable balls did his receivers drop in the first half alone? Mallett never has a good game when his targets don’t catch (check it out, I imagine those trying times would neatly coincide with your list of Mallett’s ‘choke’ games…). I’m certainly glad he rose above his ‘natural tendencies’ to throw that long TD in the third. For my money Rtan can stick around one more year, at least.

    If this statement were even remotely true, ECU wouldn’t have had to rely on their kicker as they would have scored TDs instead.

    Take a look at the game again. They ran and ran and ran and when they needed to pass they did. Also the 0-13 on third down conversion nuf said about there defense on us. Let me correct something they did what they need to do to put there team in to a scoring position. Even on the last drive which probably should have ended like the LSU and Florida game. Drive straight done the field with no resistance and send us home with a fg but apparantly Tajada must have sneezed on there kicker and gave him the same thing he has had in big games. Mallet know doubt has had help at times but he has also made a lot of over throws on short passes, over the head on medium passes and some off the back foot bonehead plays. Guys I am a hog fan but if you truly think we won that game yesterday you must be drunk. ECU lost the game more than we won it and look at those int again the ball came str8 to our guy they didn’t have to make a play one it but I do applaud them for catching it.

    Man, you ‘fans’ are horrible. The Hogs win a bowl game, and you aren’t happy and still complain. Sure, we should have killed them, but we did what we needed to do to win, and got lucky that the field goal kicker had a bad day.

    I say it’s about time our luck changed and we were at the other end of a close game – it wasn’t pretty, but I’ll give our guys credit for forcing 35-45 yard field goals rather than 20 yard chip shots.

    Don’t forget this is our first bowl win in at least 5 years. Try to enjoy it.

    Personally, I think this is serendipitous——-we win and now way is Mallett going anywhere. There is a lot stuff to be said about the game in the way of how bad the Pirates 28 seniors put it on us and all, but, bottom line, a win is a win. If Coach Bobby takes a hike, Skip Holtz would certainly be on my list of potential replacements.
