Game Predictions — Troy

Congratulations to longtime reader Carolina Hog for the exact prediction last week of 52-3.  Right on the money…nicely done.  Carolina’s quote…what?…he didn’t leave a quote???  C’mon man!

Well…okay…since Carolina Hog has been one of the most prolific commenters on this site — leaving hundreds of great comments over the past five years that, quite frankly, have often been better than the blog post they were attached to — we’ll give him a pass this time.  But don’t let it happen again.  ;)   A well-earned RBN T-shirt is headed your way, Carolina.  Congrats.

So here we go:

Troy TrojansWalking on Sunshine:  Bobby Petrino and Willy Robinson haven’t shown much in the first two weeks of the season, choosing instead to play it ‘close to the vest.’  Look for that to continue Saturday against the Trojans, as the real season starts September 24th.  Arkansas 41, Troy 14.

HogBaller:  Razorback fans get the litmus test on Saturday that they’ve anxiously awaited.  The Trojans should provide a big step up from the previous competition.  Many questions still surround this Razorback team.  Will Dennis Johnson return to give the running game a lift?  Will Greg Childs finally make an appearance?  Can Joe Adams and the Hog defense keep playing big?  Arkansas 49, Troy 9.

HogBlogger:  Things get a little more serious but the Hogs are more than up to the task.  Arkansas 45, Troy 14.

TipsterHog:  In two of their last three meetings, Troy has kept the margin of defeat under 24 points against the Razorbacks.  But not this time.  The Hogs’ offense is too much AND…the Hogs’ defense finally puts points on the board.  Arkansas 44, Troy 6.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “Hogs sack Troy more than the Greeks” or “Cowboy Troy would be better competition.  Hogs roll.”

Defensive rules in this game with a TD… Hogs win 49-7!

  2. ArchHog says:

Finally a glimpse of the running game. Receivers take the spotlight as usual! #WPS

    Hogs – 35

    Troy – 10

  3. hawgwildcafe says:

Hogs hang 50+ for 3rd week in a row. Defense records a safety and the offense rolls on as the running game takes another step forward. Hogs take this one 51-13. WPS!

  4. CallTheHogs says:

Hogs give up a few TD's but still roll!

    Hogs – 48

    Troy – 14

  5. uvahog says:

    Ark: 41

    Troy: 21

Our minds are fixated on another Alabama T-town to the north and west of Troy, but we still get the job done.

  6. OlyWaHog says:

Coach Petrino opens it up a little more, Tyler Wilson shows why he's the starter, and the D proves it knows how to sack a QB. Us 52, Them 10.

  7. GolfHog says:

Time to focus and perform. Razorbacks set the right tone. Hogs 51-9.

  8. WPS2011 says:

Hogs win blowout in final tuneup before The Showdown with the Tide. Defense gives up late TD but shutdown Troy with 4 turnovers. Offense shows its teeth again as Childs shows up with good game as Dennis Johnson gives run game a added boost!

    Hogs 48

    Troy. 13

  9. Carolina Hog says:

    Hogs 41-10

I better leave a comment this week. I think we will still look vanilla and our talent will overpower. Greg Childs get's his frist TD of the year. Razorback fans will continue to freak over the run game -isn't this like bizarro world for Hog fans to be screaming for more balance because we live by the pass too much. You need a running game to survive the SEC, but for one game against Bama I'm starting to think that we should just air bomb them. Put it up 50 times. Who is going to cover Cobi Hamilton and Marquel Wade with their 4th and 5th DB's. If you go back and watch the first half of the Bama game from last year, we chucked it all over the place and Alabama didn't have a clue what was going on. Just a thought.

  10. Michael Stansbury says:

I like the Hogs in this one 51-9- Special Teams and Defense each gets a TD in this one. Look for at least 4 sacks by the Defenses. Also- I think Obama can turn this whole mess around with a really big, really great speech.

    • Ward Hog says:

      ^^^^^^^ minus 1… haha

      Troy 17

      Hogs 41

Troy will be able to throw early, but our defense will adjust. On offense, however, they have no answer for our talent. Tyler does what he wants, then Mitchell will take over in the second half.

Stay healthly Hogs, Bama is next week!

  11. pigsooietime says:

    Hogs 42-17

Defense gets a couple picks and sacks the QB. Possibly another return for TD. Wilson has another 250+ yd game. Childs will get first TD of the year, But Troy puts up fight the whole game and gets some good yds.

  12. Adam D says:

I'm going to be that guy. Hogs caught looking forward, not paying attention to the present.

    Troy 28

    Hogs 27

    • Adam D says:

of course, this is like the $1 bid in the Price is Right…

      • GolfHog says:

No the one dollar bid would be more like 28-21 Hogs. That is like buying a lottery ticket. Sure it could happen, but I don't know anyone who is expecting it.

In Fayetteville? If everyone goes back to the garden.

With Bobby on the sideline? He would have to be run over and carried to the locker room, he and McGee both.

      • Adam D says:

Fair enough… I'll go buy a Powerball ticket this week while I'm at it…

  13. ThaHill says:

Troy comes out strong scoring on their first drive, but is shut down from there scoring only a field goal the rest of the game. Defense gets a few turnovers, including a pick-6. Arkansas' ground game looks better with the return of Johnson. Arkansas 49 Troy 10

  14. T-towner says:

An old timey Arkansas winning score with no field goals. Nah, on second thought I need to add in some field goals———two for us and one for them.

    Hogs 48

    Trojans 10

  15. Mike in Magnolia says:

OK it's been so long since I won a razorblogger t-shirt the hog has faded to green. Who wears a hog T with a green hog? (besides me)

Ok this is the week that Wingo gets it figured out. I predict that he rushes for 110 yds and Johnson has 60 yds. The First sting Defense comes out of the game at half time and Troy puts up 14 points in the third quarter. CBP is seeing cursing on the sideline ( very unusual for him….NOT!)

    Hogs 47

    Troy 17

  16. oldskooljt says:

The competition takes a few steps up this week but Bobby keeps the boys from looking ahead to next week

    Hogs 45

    Troy 13

  17. billy g says:

Rainy game slows offense down, a little…..

    38-17 Hogs

  18. Anonymous says:

    48-17. Hogs

  19. Jackie Wright says:

45-7 HOGS………….WPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! defense rules when it counts

  20. Dr Razorback says:

Hogs 42 Troy 7 Woo Pig Sooie!

  21. Hawgfan12 says:

  23. Bean Counter says:

    42-10 Hogs

  24. Nuclearhog says:

    Hog's dont come to paint

    Razorbacks: 44

    Troy: 13

  25. JayTownHog says:

I as living in Jonesboro for the past 9 years, My Wife and I have been occasionally going to ASTATE games, who play in sunbelt(would love to have a instate rivalry) . I have to admit I attend more Arkansas games than I do my current city, and Troy has either outright had or shared the sunbelt title for the past 5 seasons they maintain a dominance in the sunbelt. Outright best team in sunbelt!…

…Hogs cross the T's and dot the I's and work out the kinks to get ready for our biggest game thus far, Alabama. If our season is meant to be, we have to get past Bama, because the real test this season is LSU I believe with the quarterback change to LSU made them a caliber, better team.

Razorbacks have allowed 1 fg, and 1 td, so far add them together equals how much Troy will score.

I know the defending champion Carolina Hog has already predicted the same score as me, but I had already chose this score before I read his blog…

    Hogs: 41

    Trojans: 10

    .

  26. NielsBoar says:

    Hogs 52-26.

This will make the 3rd consecutive time Troy has scored exactly 26 points on us. I will be slightly entertained if it actually happens, but then we'll all be panicking that we gave up 26 to Troy.

  27. Little R says:

    Hogs 45

    Boys of Troy 7

  28. hoglar69 says:

Hogs D gets in the mix and puts some points on the board. Some great returns, but none returned for a TD this week. Troy puts up a little more fight, but eventually succumbs to the power of the Hogs!

    Hogs – 42

    Troy – 13

    WPS!!!!

  29. MemphisHog says:

Troy always plays us close in the 1st half it seems and they're definitely the best team of our first three games, so I'm going with this score:

    Hogs 48

    Troy 23

  30. TNhogfan says:

It will be closer than most think, but the Hogs come out strong in the second half.

    Hogs 38-17

  31. jim Dogg says:

Carolina and Townhog already have my prediction 41-10. 5 TDs and 2 field goals. Hogs need to fine tune a bit, get some players more experience, keep people healthy, and rotate QBs again. Johnson may see limited duty to save him for Bama. Running game will improve, but will Adams get many touches at RB? Wideout pass to get Adams in space and a feel for RB? Mitchell might option with Adams in the backfield. Hogs may stretch the field more in this one, especially with Childs. Still must try not to show too much. However, I think that Willy will challenge his defense to stop Troy from scoring any TDs. First things first tho. Must win game since it puts the Hogs halfway to bowl eligibility. So Arkansas 41-Troy 6.

  32. soupdhog says:

The shutout our D is looking for:

    Hogs 51

    Troy 0

    • NielsBoar says:

I hope you are right, soup. That would say a lot (more than most would think) to shut down Troy's offense.

  33. Austin Hog says:

This score worked was a T-shirt winner for me against MO St, so we'll go to the well one more time. Next week's Bama game can't get here soon enough…

    Hogs — 52

    Troy — 7

  34. I Like Pigs says:

    Hogs prepare for the Tide.

    Us – 38

    Them – 13

  35. HawginSouthBend says:

    Hogs 48

    Troy 16

  36. GonzoHog says:

The Trojans find out all they want about Marquel Wade and Jevantee Herndon with Greg Childs and Jarius Wright both sidelined for the game.

Dennis Johnson is back, but could be a little rusty. Don't expect too much there just yet.

Ronnie Wingo will take another step of improvement. (don't worry)

Joe Adams will get his touches.

Kody Walker will rock -n- roll in the 4th.

There will be very little drop off at DE with Chris Smith, if any.

The D-line will be hungry after a somewhat subpar game last week against the Lobos that featured no sacks. They take care of business this time around.

Still, the offensive and defensive scheems stay close to vanilla.

    War Pigs – 44, Everyone's favorite rubber – 10.

  37. Okie Hog says:

    Hogs 45 -9

Our defense will hold on for no TD's maybe even a couple of goal line stands.

  38. Johnnie Smith says:

I'll keep it simple, we are just to good this year if our coach and players stay focused and extremely fired up to devastate every opponent like we can, UNDEFEATED SEASON – NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP is OURS !!! we again score 50+ but still can't get a shutout !!!

    HOGS – 56

    Troy – 3
