Game Predictions — Rutgers

Congratulations to reader hogwilly for the closest prediction last week of 56-3.  His quote: “56-3 Bama.”  C’mon hogwilly…at least describe the carnage in a little more detail than that!  Either way…an RBN T-shirt is headed your way (as soon as you reply to the email we sent you).

So here’s a little twist we’re throwing in this week.  Along with your guess (and comment!) for the Rutgers game T-shirt giveaway, we’d also like you to include your prediction for the final season record.  No prize for that pick…just for ‘fun.’  Oh…a reminder…12-0 and 11-1 are no longer options.  ;)

Here we go:

Rutgers Scarlet KnightsWalking on Sunshine:  Urgency and redemption are on the Hogs’ side this week.  They are desperate to get any win before the trip to College Station next week.  If Tyler Wilson is able, his presence alone could get us off ‘high center.’  Arkansas 28, Rutgers 25.

HogBaller:  Saturday is a season-defining game for this Razorback football team and coaching staff.  The Scarlet Knights are not your typical Big East team…they’re good.  If the Hogs have any hope of turning this season around, it starts Saturday.  Based on what I’ve seen the last 2 weeks, it’s simple for me.  Tyler Wilson HAS to play for the Hogs to have a chance.  Tyler Wilson’s Razorbacks  38, Scarlet Knights 17.

HogBlogger:  Hogs rally to pull things back together, but fragile minds win out.  Rutgers 31, Arkansas 24.

TipsterHog:  First meeting in school history with a Big East team ends with a Tyler Wilson two-minute drive to win it.  Arkansas 30, Rutgers 28.

    Are we really picking this before we know if Tyler plays? I’ll say Hogs 28-17. At some point Knile is going to get his mojo back, and heres to hoping its this week. In spite of the last two weeks, I just can’t quite accept that this team is this bad.

    35-21, Hogs. I think that the offense puts together decent stats this week. The defense will have a hard time defending the pass, but will do enough to win.

    Rutgers is not a passing team although we may make them look like one. It’ll be a struggle and anyone’s game late but the Hogs pull out the shootout, 34-31.
    The schedule sets up well for redemption if we get by A&M. Still, It’s hard to see this defense and this O-line being worth more than 8-4. Other teams are building momentum and chemistry while we try to keep the wheels from coming off. And, they all have a head coach. Grandpa doesn’t seem to know why he is here.

    Before the season started I was afraid that a highflying Hog team would overlook Rutgers. But the way things have turned out, Rutgers has Arkansas’ full attention. I think Arkansas will make a statement. Arkansas 41 Rutgers 21. Final record is 9-3 with a win over Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.

      About last weeks prediction I saw that one coming a mile away. After watching the ULM game, not having Wilson, and having a lack of leadership from the coaching I knew we were headed for a train wreck. This week with Wilson being back in the game and having made said statement at press conference, I think we pull it off this week and get some of our drive back. I would like to see more running and defense step up to the plate

    Hogs 38-Rutgers 34 Offense perks up but still no defense (and no coaching). Final record 6-6. No bowl bid forthcoming.

    Wilson is back, but the O-Line struggles to do anything closely resembling blocking. Defense does well, but the offense won’t sustain drives without running the ball (which we haven’t done effectively this season) and get gashed late. I hope Wilson doesn’t get hurt again.

    Tyler Wilson and the HOGS come out determined. I predict that Arkansas comes out on fire the first half, as you will witness the best as a whole team so far this season bythe hogs. Wilson comes back with a mission to restore the razorback s reputation. Rutgers responds with stout competion, but in the end this SEC west team called the HOGS will rise and bring in a win. Prediction? 28-21 Razorbacks!

    Rutgers thinks that South Florida was a hostile crowd, wait till they hear us Hog fans! I do fully believe that Rutger players can be some of the toughest out there, but do they have what it takes to take down the hungriest of hogs? Don’t think so!..

    A good friend of mine Daniel said at the beginning of the season that we would go 8 and 4. Well I hope he is wrong so I’m saying Tyler and Knile takes us to 9 and 3. :)

    Tyler returns with a vengence (315+ YRDS), Knile mentally shows he’s over the ankle and why he was the leading SEC rusher 2 years ago (125+ YRDS). The defense shows improvement but struggles to make Rutgers’ offensive attack one demensional verse the run. Hogs 49 – Rutgers 31

    I’m not getting any intuitive feeling whatsoever about this game. So, I’ll say Hogs 28, Scarlet Knights 21. That is my wish. If we get beat in this one, all bets are off for the rest of the season.

    At halftime Tyler Wilson throws his white, blood-spattered helmet at John L., grabs a motorcycle and a cheerleader and heads west. John L is strapped to a goal post, tarred and feathered at the end of the game.

    Death in Fayetteville? Not really. Remember: It is only a game! Once Arkansas fans figure out that teams have to have a strong running game and a solid defense, then, and only then will the Hogs compete with the big boys. It appears that AU coaches have returned to their running and defensing ways. We know who created this mess with a lack of defensive recruiting and not understanding that actions have consequences. I hate it for our players. They do not deserve this. Be nice to the players. Hold your tongues. Words hurt. Sticks and stones will break my bones but so will nasty words. Go Hogs! Go! Beat TAM!
