SB Nation BlogPoll Ballot – Week 3

Last week’s poll was all about teams making moves up the ladder.  This week is about teams falling – some free falling – after season-changing losses.

SB Nation BlogPoll Top 25 Logo 2Arkansas‘ improbable 34-31 loss to Louisiana-Monroe was catastrophic.  When you lose a game like that, doubt creeps into the minds of all players and coaches, making it very difficult to recover.  We drop the Hogs completely out of our ballot this week, as our fears going into the season seem to be materializing.

Three ranked teams went west and came home unfulfilled.  Wisconsin imploded dropping a 10-7 decision to Oregon State on the road.  Nebraska couldn’t contain UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley (358 TotYds, 4TDs) in losing their trip out west 36-30.

We were admittedly too high on Oklahoma State last week.  They too went out west to Arizona and lost a 59-38 shootout.  Wildcat running back Ka’Deem Carey was unstoppable, rushing for 126 yards and 4TDs, while the Cowboys turned it over four times.  Not good.

Florida and Georgia both had nice wins on the road as they welcomed Missouri and Texas A&M to the league.  The Gators face off with Tennessee this week in a very important SEC East matchup.

You can find the complete BlogPoll here when it comes out each Tuesday.  So, without further ado, here’s the RBN ballot this week:

What Boise State ahead of Arkansas? The Hogs not in the top 25? It’s not like we lost to a… never mind. Back to work for me. :-(

I suppose since I got on your case about Okie St last week I should have also been on your case about Arkansas.
The only observation I have its that it may be concerning to that USC and Oregon gave up so many points to some pretty weak teams. However, they have the offense to offset their defense…which was something I wish we had last Saturday.

About right. My opinion, at this time: Oklahoma, Okie State, Michigan, and Nebraska too high. KSU, Louisville, Miss State, ND too low. Sorry, LSU and Bama should be tied. TAMU and Miss State look ready to be trouble for the SEC West. Mizzou wasn’t as good as I thought nor Georgia as bad and Mizzou will fight Vanderbilt for next to last in the SEC East. Notre Dame hasn’t received any love yet, which is surprising*, but then again the bloggers must be waiting for this weekend where either ND or Sparty will show what they’re made off. Big game for Big Ten pride. MSU goes down, The BIG (as they call themselves) can forget a national championship game. And there will be TWO conference BCS representatives that don’t deserve to play in those games.
*Or not. The ND subway alumni are not what they used to be. Plus the hatred ginned up the media for Catholics will be a factor is assessing the Irish. If ND goes undefeated (unlikely), considering their scheduale, it would be hard to keep them out of the championship game.
