Much has been made about the all-star staff that Bret Bielema has assembled at Arkansas. The early returns are starting to show.
The commitment Saturday from Honolulu, Hawaii 4-star offensive lineman Reeve Koehler (6-3, 315, 5.2), and the official visit by 6-10, 295-pound tackle Dan Skipper from Arvada, Colorado have Razorback fans buzzing.
Both of these players were being recruited by Pittman to Tennessee before he was thrown out in the wake of the Derek Dooley cleansing. His approach seems to be working as Koehler referred to him as “like a second father” in an interview with Richard Davenport this week.
And, of course, it doesn’t hurt when Arkansas fans show just how passionate they are. Friday nights at the Catfish Hole have become a recruiting ‘secret weapon’ of sorts, and when Koehler, Skipper and ten other recruits and their families dined out last Friday Night, everyone commented on how crazy it was.
Koehler looks like a guard type. Good feet, good hands. Rivals has him ranked as the #8 guard in the nation.
Skipper, on the other hand, moves really well for being 6-10. His frame and wingspan are impressive. He has offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma to name a few.
National Signing Day is two weeks away. If Bielema and staff continue to hammer away, this could turn from being a ‘salvage operation’ to a Top 25 class.
