Well, after a decent first week, we find ourselves above water. After hitting Northern Illinois and Alabama in the afternoon, the Warhawks of ULM kept us from a perfect day as they didn’t get off the bus in their 34-0 loss to the Sooners.
Last Week: 2-1 Year to Date: 2-1
Idaho at Wyoming – Wyoming put up a strong fight, and almost pulled the upset of Nebraska at Lincoln last week. Idaho was anemic in dropping their opener to North Texas 40-6. Idaho is playing as an independent this year, until they join the Sun Belt in 2014. Tough assignment for Paul Petrino to get his team motivated while they are in limbo. Another beatdown. Wyoming -28.
Arizona at UNLV – The Running Rebels are out of the gate slow after a 51-23 season opening loss to Big 10 bottom-feeder Minnesota. Arizona on the other hand is getting All-American running back Ka’Deem Carey (1,923 RuYds, 23TDs in 2012) back this week after a one-game suspension. Two teams headed in different directions. Arizona -10.
Texas at BYU – It pains us to do this, but we like the Longhorns this week. After a woefully slow start in their 56-7 win over New Mexico State last week (led 14-7 at the half), Texas found their stride in route to 715 total yards. BYU has an above average defense, but like last year, can’t score. This week they shuffle the O-line around, and still may be without star WR Cody Hoffman (hamstring). Texas -7.
Oregon at Virginia – While it looks like the Hoos are improved in 2013, we’re quite sure they are not ready for the speed of Oregon. If QB Marcus Mariota and RB DeAnthony Thomas are on their game, Oregon might cover this number in the first quarter. The cross country trip is a concern, but we’ll lay the points and take the best team. Oregon -22.
Who are you on this week?
