ESPN.com: Bell lifts Arkansas past Indiana State 91-71

Anthlon Bell set a career high for the second straight home game, finishing with 28 points as Arkansas pulled away for a 91-71 win over Indiana State in the opening round of the NIT on Tuesday night.

Glad to get this win. But the Hogs repeated a troubling pattern of cold shooting in the first half, except for Anthlon Bell, who was the difference in this game. He had half of his team’s first-half points. We’re not going to win any more games this season with this kind of team play, IMHO, especially if we have to play Cal at their house. Anderson seemed very subdued in the pre-game. I hope this win gets the Hogs back in their winning groove. Those previous two losses must have been demoralizing for the players. GHG/WPS!!!

I agree. If Bell’s shooting is on, we always have a chance to be tough, but we can’t always rely on him. We need more consistant play from everyone. We have no superstars on this team, but if everyone comes to play, we will always be tough, no matter who we play.
I was very disappointed in the way we finished the two previous games. Hopefully, this game will get us motivated and back on track from here on out.

      GO HOGS GO, BABY!!!

I was thinking, hoping, there would be more enthusiasm by the fans for this tournament. Perhaps the last two losses demoralized the fan base most of all, and many decided to move on. Despite cheap tickets, only 40% capacity at the Bud.
Yeah, we have the nucleus of a good team when they’re on: Portis, Madden, Qualls, Clarke, Bell and others are capable of scoring 20 on a good night. As you say, if we beat Cal, and I’m optimistic about that, the team and the fans may get back into the season. Hope so. We still have a season as long as we keep winning. There are worse things to have than an NIT championship trophy.
