Hold All Tickets: Week 13 Ring the Bell

free moneyJust like the Hogs last week, we rang the bell and posted our best effort of the season going 6-3.  This week we are looking for teams trying to impress the selection committee or quitters.  There is money to be made on both ends of the spectrum.

In our friendly, season long competition with Arkansas Fight, we gained some ground on Graham even though he has strung together three winning weeks in a row.  You can see Graham’s Week 13 picks here.

Here we go.

Ole Miss at Arkansas – It has been a long time since we have seen a Razorback defense play this well for an extended stretch.  Giving up 17, 17 and 0 the last three, Robb Smith’s bunch now ranks 27th nationally in points allowed (22.2 PPG).  Ole Miss is fresh off a bye, but is playing without star WR Laquon Treadwell who was lost for the season in the Auburn game.  We get the feeling the Hogs like that sweet taste of victory and will not let down.  Two separate bets: Arkansas +3.5 and Arkansas/Ole Miss Under 46.

Oklahoma State at Baylor – We have not been on Baylor much this season, but think this is a good spot.  The Bears are fresh off a bye and have the #1 ranked scoring offense (50.1 PPG).  Oklahoma State is struggling mightly on offense the last month, averaging just 10.2 PPG against the upper-tier teams in the Big 12.  Added incentive for Baylor is the 49-17 thrashing the Cowboys gave them in this game just a year ago.  The Bears need style points for the committee, and should name the score.  Baylor -28.

Louisiana Tech at Old Dominion – Interesting game as Louisiana Tech is trying to clinch the Western Division title of C-USA.  Both these teams have potent offenses, but only one – the Bulldogs – sport a viable defense.  ODU ranks 124th nationally in points allowed (40.1 PPG), while LT is better than average, ranking 47th (24.1).  ODU loves to throw it, but may have some trouble doing so against the Tech defense which ranks 4th nationally with 17 interceptions on the season.  Good matchup for for LaTech who is 6-0 against the spread on the road this season.  Louisiana Tech -11.5.

Wisconsin at Iowa – Wow…how about Wisky RB Melvin Gordon last week?  His 408 rushing yards set a new NCAA record as the Badgers routed Nebraska.  And he didn’t play in the fourth quarter!!!  With a win this week and a Minnesota loss at Nebraska, Wisconsin can clinch the Big Ten Western division.  Iowa is giving up an average of 4.8 yards per rush.  Not a good thing with Mr. Gordon coming to town.  Wisconsin -9.5.

Boise State at Wyoming – Wyoming HC Craig Bohl has the Cowboys playing some better defense this season.  Boise has been shaky in their last three road games this year giving up 49 (New Mexico), 46 (Nevada) and losing straight up to Air Force 28-14.  We think Wyoming can hang around in this one on senior night in Laramie.  Wyoming +13.

Northwestern at Purdue – In one of the bigger upsets of the 2014 season, the Wildcats dropped Notre Dame 43-40 in OT as 17-point underdogs last Saturday.  We think Northwestern is overvalued here as their offense still ranks 112th nationally (20.5 PPG) after scoring 43 last week.  Purdue is the better team here, playing at home, getting points on senior day.  Give us the Boilermakers and the points.  Purdue +1.5.

Missouri at Tennessee – We continue to pick against the Tigers and so far we have swung and missed twice.  Their surprising first place showing in the Eastern Division so far is a testament to how bad that division truly is…with the exception of Georgia.  Tennessee is playing out of their mind the last few weeks, as QB Joshua Dobbs has electrified the offense.  The Vols have scored 95 points in the last two weeks (two wins), and are looking to get bowl eligible this week or next (Vandy).  LB A.J. Johnson is suspended for this game, so we think Mizzou will score some here too.  A lot of sharp money is coming in on UT.  Two separate bets: Tennessee -3 and Tennessee/Missouri Over 48.
