I thought they looked pretty good until the last couple of minutes of the game. That was an ugly finish. We have to be able to dribble the ball under pressure. I think they would have been better off just running some sort of an offense while milking the clock.

I would also suggest that they get Weems involved in the first half of the game next time. Steven Hill was a different player (except for a couple of SH-Special hook shots). He does have a problem getting two hands on the ball when rebounding. He (and others on the team) go up for the ball with one hand. I don't understand that. We lost a lot of rebounds simply due to poor rebounding fundamentals.

All in all, I thought it was an entertaining game.

I'm headin' to BAMA baby! Look out SEC West.

  3. HJHog, you’re forgetting the best part….Darian Townes took his ball and went home mid way through the first half because things weren’t going so well for him. After putting up a few wild shots in his first three or four minutes, Heath got after him a little bit, and he exploded and made a spectacle of the situation. He then went to the locker room, got dressed, and left his teammates in the heat of battle. Unforgiveable.

If Heath lets him play on Saturday, you’ll know what kind of coach we have.

  4. HJHog says:

    Sunshine,

I can't believe it, but I completely missed that. Good for Heath, if he sticks to his guns. I'm with you, if Towns acted like a baby, I wouldn't let him in the game on Saturday for any reason.

  5. UnderHog says:

Last year in the heat of most probably the Hogs' biggest win/game with Florida we saw him get into it with what some of us saw as Modica and Brewer broke that one up. Was there more than one fight that Townes picked in that same game?

Sunshine – approaches have changed in recent times in the "coddling", "pampering", "second chance", "third chance" department but I would suit him up, make him warm up and then keep a hard chair under his butt the entire game – but hey this is 13-1 (today) Alabama. Is Heath going to stiffen his "coaching spine" or give in to the need. Of course at this point we don't know what the conversation consisted of late Tuesday night (if it indeed transpired). But maybe that shouldn't matter – this was a "public" display – so puff up Stan and sit down Townes and do your pennance.

I watched the game and enjoyed some of what I saw. I do think Weem has to be more aggressive in the early going and who ever told Thomas to start taking those outside shots needs to redirect him back to the paint.

  7. HJHog says:

Amen, Dieinghog. Both statements are valid. Weems was a none factor in the first half. That cannot happen. He and Beverly need to be the main scorers on this team. They need to be told that. As for Thomas, that was enough with the 3-ball. Who does he think he is, Dwight Stewart?
