Hey Butch I am fully aware of the shortcomings of the last 9 years. But I refuse to believe that every one is a liar and a cheat and I refuse to call them so. I choose to make my thoughts know to the people on the hill in several ways. But I will not slander people to the effect that allows people to create a cesspool of the environment. The fact is people a lot smarter than me have to make the decision to hire and fire Broyles or Nutt. The fact is Nutt is doing his best to win games. Maybe he isn't good enough for us but I refuse to slander him while I will call into question his methods. My job is to enjoy the game and support the ones who are there. Calling them names has an effect on recruits and the players and people that are there.

For years we have all gotten together around lunch tables and barbers chairs and complained of coaches and schemes and games. But if never got to name calling. People talking amonst themselves ensured that common sense and decency never let it get that far. You do have a impact on the program. Unfortunately it is a negative impact. That is fine with you becuase ultimately you do not care what colateral damage occurs as long as you get Nutt fired.

I am sorry I write long responses. It would be easier if I just called you names.

Gonzohog - to answer your question....Lee and Parcells were buddies from back in the old Vanderbilt days. Parcells was OC at Vandy when David Lee was QB there back in the early 70's. It should be noted that Lee was demoted this past year in Dallas from Quarterbacks coach to a Quality Control assistant who was mainly involved in scouting. He sat in the press box on game day.

Butch Davis, just out of couriosity, if David Lee was ran off because he had no knowledge of developing QB's, how, in the name of insanity, would he ever be in a position to further his teachings on the proffesional level? Could it be, he was just very, very lucky to land his position on the Dallas Cowboy's staff, not to mention, make even more money on the professional level? Maybe he made less money, and just went ahead and took the contract offered to him anyway. He probably figured out a way to get that money tree, growing in his back yard, to produce some $$$. You might need to talk to this guy.

Sweet God, what a lengthy response Kendall. I had no idea that "I" ran off Mitch and Damian. Wow! And to think I thought I had no pull in any of this.

If I could only get that money tree growing in my yard to produce Benjamins.

Taking 14 games to win 10 is AVERAGE. 71% is what that equates to. NO BCS APPEARANCES IN 9 YEARS! NO SEC CHAMPIONSHIP IN 9 YEARS.

David Lee is in his THIRD stint here. He was run off before because he could not develop QB's or a passing game. But this time is gonna be different? You boys keep those heads in the sand, uncle Rickie would be proud.

I am sorry Butch but we will forever disagree- on one point at least. Did I like losing that last three? Like you no I did not. Did I like running off Malzahn? I think he left on his own. I did not like the way it happened but I sure did not have a problem hiring a Lee to help with QB's. Losing to freshmen. Don't like it either but the fact is you helped with that.

We can blame everything on the coaching staff and they deserve their share. But if the fans are going to create an environment that helps stink up the environment then take your part in the charade.

I would like things to be different but I unlike you do not feel that Broyles and Nutt are absolute idiots sitting around trying to figure out how to line their pockets and screw people over. I do think they have made mistakes. I think other parties in the charade have made theirs also. I do not think Nutt is the best coach in the US. I do not think he is the worst. I think Gus is going to be a great coach but I do not think he is yet. But thinking that constant criticism and slander helps, but does not hurt the program, is just wrong. You may think it helps put pressure on the administration but what it does is force their hand in an opposite way. They have to ensure they do not seem to be giving in to certain players, or fans. I agree with them in this case.

What it does is create an environment that takes the joy away from the players that are happy, that takes shine away from the program for players who might want to be here from out of state, that makes players in state not want to be caught in the crossfire, and makes it impossible for anyone to enjoy. I do not like losing any game but that doesn't mean I am going to take my criticism to the streets and I will not call someone a liar or a cheat or an imbecile unless I can substantiate it myself. I will not take someone's source unless I know the source and their intentions. I will not judge myself by my intentions and judge others by my view of thier actions.

I firmly believe that without all the discontent then we would have likely won one of the last three games. Pick either one you want. The parents would still have gone to Broyles but Cleveland's dad would not have spouted off and we would not have had some in the media pusing the agenda. I believe Malzahn and Nutt could have worked out thier differences, Lee could have come in as co-offensive coordinator and Malzahn would still be calling the plays. Or maybe not, but if he had left there would not have been as much problem. Mustain likely would still be here. Not sure about Williams. We could have enjoyed a 10-4 season that was oh-so-close to be being really good. We could have looked forward to seeing Dmac run for the heisman wiht improved qb play. We could still complain about the coach for not taking us to the next level. We could still sing Malzahn's praises. We could see the day two years from now when Mustain would be a junior and ready to be the guy at QB. We could look forward to the day in the near future I believe when Nutt turns over the reigns to someone else and maybe we go to the next level. Cause now we have had a couple good years with a strong fan base- a place a big time coach would move to.

But of course I just have my head in the sand. It is better to implode everything becuase that is the only way to get things done and ensure that no one enjoys it.

Criticize schemes and records and results if you want. But quit making judgements about people's character. I realize Hogblogger will take me to task for my pious wanderings.

Randy Quaid was in Major League? Butch, I wouldn't put up with this 10 win crap anymore if I was you. I'd go get a new team, perhaps the 'heels. How long before they win 10 games? Take care, we'll miss you.

7th or 8th in POTENTIAL, not results. While I am truly disappointed in the end of the season and am not a Broyles or Nutt fan, Frank speaks the truth about potential.

Being from Texas (I cannot speak of GA, AL, LA, MS, FL, SC, TN), I know there are some school districts in Texas that have more D-I prospects than the whole state of Arkansas. Good grief, there are some school districts in Texas that have more populations than the entire state of Arkansas.

Hogs could recruit every D-I prospect in the state and still go to war with a short stick.

Texas Hog fan since '56.

I thought that I might add my irreverent solution to the discussion. I'm sending this in to the Voices page of the Demo-Zette, but Oakley is such a feminist that this will never see the light of day.

Woman AD needed

Rumors fly, truths are understood or misunderstood, and the brouhaha on the “Hill” appears to look like some Machiavellian court intrigue. Was the Arkansas football offense a three headed mutant of Broyles-Nutt-Malzahn? Is Broyles a Svengali to Nutt’s Trilby and Malzahn a mere bystander? All of these and other problems would go away if the next Athletic Director (in the year 2025) is a woman. A woman has not played serious football (family touch games don’t count), has never coached in serious competition, and would not know how to relate to half of a team that refers to females they don’t like as Hoes. Therefore, such a Director would not be able to interfere with the football program and could spend her time managing the Athletic Department and relating to alums. On second thought, the University of Colorado has a woman AD whose appointment was obviously an effort to go one up on other schools in political correctness. Colorado also gave a scholarship to a female place kicker who the coaches, players, and alumni boosters didn’t want (she left under duress). Someone was meddling in that, but I’m not sure it was the AD; more likely it was pressure from the former pinhead President of the school (who was a woman) and the squirrelly members of the faculty who had nothing better to do. So maybe we’re still better off with Broyles than surrendering to current fads (the passing game excepted).

You and I will obviously never agree!!

We'll see at the end of next year if once again we are fighting it out to see who wins the SEC west.

If Hillis & McFadden didn't win the Landers then it's a joke anyway.

I think we only offered two of the top 6 recruits you are referring to. One of which we actually lost and one we never had a chance to begin with.

Once again time will have to tell if our recruiting class is up to par.

By the way I have increased my donations because I knew all the whiners would quit contributing.

I love the razorbacks and while I feel like the Randy Quaid character in the movie Major League, I think that we are far too critical of the program. In a knee jerk reaction to the departure of Williams, Mustain, and Malzahn, I was of the opinion that Broyles and Nutt should go. However, if it is true that Malzahn was not calling the plays, then Nutt should also be offensive coordinator of the year as well as SEC coach of the year. Maybe we need to calm down and look at the season for what it was; a success. We won ten games in a season that we thought we might win 6.

I grew up south of Harrison, AR and some people built a dirt race track close to town. Everyone, and I mean everyone in the area loved going to the races. It was the thing to do. It was fun. Before long, race drivers and their families/friends started polarizing into groups and things started to turn ugly at the races. The races turned into demolition derbies and the stands turned into a brawl. The result was that paying fans got sick of it and found other entertainment. The track is now closed and the stands were recently bulldozed.

How does this relate to the Razorbacks, we all enjoy the Hogs and enjoy games. We have recently found ourselves polarized on issues relating to coaching and administration of the program. Message boards are alive with the feuding. Let's be careful to not ruin something that we all agree that we enjoy because of a few problems. These types of problems tend to take care of themselves anyway. Broyles can't live forever and if Nutt is as bad as they say, the record will reflect it and he will be leaving. Problems solved. Let's be calm and support our Razorback teams and coaches because that is who we have.

I take it then that you don't mind finishing the season on a 3 game losing streak?

Or running off the Offensive Coordiantor of the year?
How about losing 2 All SEC freshman? One the National POY.

What about 6 of the top 10 instate recruits saying NO to the Hogs?

Or the first time in the award's history, not getting a Landers Award winner to say yes to the Hogs.

Yes, Bluffhawg, that is a very, very rosy picture indeed. I am wrong to bitch and moan about that. Hellfire, I need to double my donations and tickets for next season. Looks like we are definitely on an upswing heading into the 2007 season.

I'm sorry for being so negative. You're right, it's all just fine.

I've watched the video!

I think your glass is broken.

The majority of people that vote in those stupid poles are the whiners and complainers. I know I never vote. Implosion is not going to happen.

We've been playing Razorback football for decades and it will continue with or without "Bitchers and Moaners like you.

You need to watch the video Bluffhawg. Sorry you are pleased with lies and deception running the football program. I don't think you have a glass to fill.

It's fans like you that are enablers to a corrupt administration that is out of control. When it completely implodes, you can be proud that you were happy about the direction it was moving in.

Also, statewide polls show that fans like you are in the minority in thinking that everything is honky-dory on the Hill.

Butch Davis, you need to change your post to "some people want a change" I'm part of people and feel that our program is moving in a positive direction and don't feel a change is needed.

As far as Franks comments. I read something totally different from what was said than you guys obviously did. I guess it all depends on whether you are a glass half empty guy or glass half full guy. It certainly appeared to me that he was pointing out that we are rising above our difficulties.

Wow. If only we had audio or video of Frank calling one of the attendees a liar. Folks, this isn't going away.

People want change and the athletic department is sitting on their hands hoping all of this just magically disappears.
