Close, but no cigar. Proud of the effort. This team is encouraging more with each game now, but they're still missing something. I'm just not quite sure what it is.

But, I still want to see how they do against lesser teams and this weekend at Ole Mrs. qualifies as a lesser opponent. Can we keep the intensity up for them?

Thomas played about as bad a game as I've seen him play since he was a freshman. Hill played decent, but still gets stupid fouls. Townes is coming on now, but still not the defensive presence he was hyped up to be coming out of Hargrave. I wish we could combine Townes and Hill into one player.

Missing ingredient may be they are still all new playing together. 15 games in it is getting better. LAter in the year they may be pretty good if they can improve. Irvin starting to settle down. Hunter hasn't played in 2 years really. Beverly is a freshman. Weems adjusting. I think they will be exposed with depth at guard and they do not have a guy who creates big matchup problems for the other team. But playing as a team helps offset that.

Hogs are close! I'm not sure how many 3's were attemted, but I only seen 3 go in. If a couple more of these drop thruogh, and layups or putbacks are convreted , hogs win that game. Darian Towns has to become "automatic " inside, for the hogs, when the 3's aren,t falling. Way too many 5 ft. shots missed! If this can improve, hogs will be in the NCAA tourney again. One thing I am still mad about thuogh. Hogs were 12-3 going into Florida, coming of a complete anhialation of the #8 team in the nation, and their not ranked in the top 25??? That pi**es me off to no end!!!

Kendallp says "I think they will be exposed with depth at guard and they do not have a guy who creates big matchup problems for the other team. Just ask Alabama how they matched up with our big guys inside. Also, if Alabama and Florida are not going to expose our "lack of depth" at point guard then who is? We could analyze this game to death, the point is we went into and overly hostile environment and played a good game. For crying out loud, the students wer probably still drunk from the night before.

I saw a lot of bad calls in last nights game but even with those calls we were right in the thick of things. I do think that our big men have to do a better job at putting the ball in the basket a point blank range because against teams like the Gators who rebound well you only get one chance. I am also seeing a lot of muturity in GI play as of late.

  6. Carolina Hog says:

I think most games are called even and it all comes out in the wash. Blameing refs is a bad habit to get into, but I'd have to agree with dieing hog on the officiating. We got mugged on some of those steals and rebounds by Noah and yet Thomas gets called for a petty reach in the backcourt or Hill gets called for a clean play on the ball. I've had reservations about Heath, but I probably feel better now than anytime during his tenure. There is player deveopment (Ervin, Hill, etc.) and far better chemistry than we ever achieved witih Brewer and co. For the first time in years we've got some balls. If we ever get consistency from Townes where he shows up night in and out and plays like he did last night or last year against Tenn. we'll be hard to beat. I've always thought he had more talent than Thomas but while Thomas has the heart of a warrior, Townes often looks to have the heart of Mario Credit.

I also thought the Gators were allowed to be a little "over physical" at times, inside the paint. Late in the game, I saw Horford go over the back of Townes, for an offensive rebound, go back up for the basket, while Thomas get's called for going over his back. I's the same way in Fayettville though,. Home team is useually allowed to be a little more physical. Still no need to blame this one on

refs though. Hogs could have still won.
