I would take it, that by saying our football program has reached a polarizing situation, that nothing will be proven one way or the other, until the coming season has been played. Fans that side with the Gus and Mitch side of things, hate Houston Nutt. The ones that take everything with a lump of sugar, stay positive about the future, no matter what seems to be transpiring. Then there are those who are somewhere in between with nowhere to go. I personally, will be glad when the coming season is over, so that we can evaluate David Lee as an OC, and wheather or not he got to call the plays. I will be glad when Mitch finally transfers to another school, so the marriage will officially be over. I will be glad to see Gus complete his first year at TU, to prove to over-compulsive Hog fans, that he will not be a “world beater’ in his first year. And last but not least, I will be glad to see Frank Broyles “give it up”, which has been long over due. This Hog fan is so ready to move on!!

I like most am ready to put all of this behind us. When a man’s character comes into question because of hate for a man then priorities are out of focus. This is only a sport. Yes it is all we as Arkansans have I know, but it is time to put all of this into perspective and move on.
A once famous person made this statement, “He without sin let him cast the first stone.” Is there anyone here that would want to be under the microscope PERSONALY that Coach Nut has been under. It’s one thing to dislike his play calling or even question his coaching ability to attack personaly I’m suprised he would even want to stay.
Of course the rest of the that qoute says, ” Niether do I condem you go and sin no more.” May we all go and sin no more.

  3. BlindHog says:

I think everyone is sick and tired of explaining why it is bad for the program to lie to coaches, recruits, and fans. If you don’t get that and you are just about the wins and losses then so be it.

    But,

The fans will remain divided whether much more is said or not. Once exposed to this degree, it seems impossible for Houston to rebuild his reputation with those who care for truth and maturity and character.

The only remaining question is how sick is this going to get? Houston will wither personally under the pressure and while winning will save his job, the effect on him as a person will not be fun to watch. I only hope that he loses enough to be given a fresh start or that he can find a new home before it gets really ugly.

I believe in redemption. I would love to see it for Houston. I have never seen it without honesty.

  4. OwassoHog says:

Keep in mind that Houston’s character was well questioned before the investigation into his personal life. This round of questioning only enhanced the situation.

  5. The dude says:

Once again haters, PROVE he lied.

  6. OwassoHog says:

How about… we are going to “enhance” our passing game. Didn’t happen… wasn’t in the plans very long (if at all). Less than truthful in my book. If it ain’t truthful, it might as well be called a LIE! How about I’ve got a “quick” trigger? LIE! Just how many do you need?

As for a hater, not really. Again, he isn’t going to take us where we need to go. How many years has he been here? And how many real chances at an SEC Championship did we have? Time to face the facts – with Nutt we will be average to good which isn’t good enough for me.

  7. BlindHog says:

Dude, this is all completely documented. All you have to do is go to the archives of any Arkansas newspaper for the articles when Gus was hired, articles about spring practice 06, and articles about August two-a-days. You will find article after article quoting Houston Dale Nutt on passing and the new offense.

Why do you think Gus came or left? Why do you think Damian came or left? Why do you think Mitch came or left? I know you want to believe they were just whiners and quitters but any fair reading of their statements is much classier and more believable than anything stammered out by Dale. Facts is Facts. Sorry.

  8. ReasonRules says:

I did not have textual relations with that woman.

  9. BlindHog says:

20 times a day. Give me a break. Maybe he didn’t do anything but he was sure thinking about that fund raising alot. Maybe just a sweet little crush.

  10. The dude says:

Maybe if Mitch “Messiah” Mustain was actually as good as advertised Nutt would have let Gus open up the passing game.

  11. BlindHog says:

    Dude,

I see you have changed subjects. You must be a friend of Dale’s. It is all about making an argument with no regard for the truth.

Actually, Mitch looked the part of a Freshman. He only completed enough to win 7 straight. The problem with your whole argument is that you have to let them throw some in practice and in games if you ever expect them to improve. And, Mitch may have had his problems but he looked better than Casey. I could have seen a two platoon alot sooner than what we saw.

But, as I say, none of that applies to the original discussion. Lieing is lieing, win or lose.

Why hire a HUNH coach as OC of a smash mouth running team? Please tell me Dale knew what he was doing there.

IF he wasn’t committed to it, if it was going to take several years to implement, tell people. Don’t say one thing until you change your mind and then say nothing.

  12. oldcowboy1953 says:

When are you folks gonna get it!!!! Gus! used Coach Nutt! Frank Broyles! and most of all Mitch Mustain! as a stepping stone to the next level… In my book he never intended to stay at Arkansas… I feel for the people he used. But that is what happens in life… Get over it and get behind your HOGS! There is a great year coming up! ….. Note To Mitchell Mustain: Only Arkansas people have your best interest in mind. Try to put your old high school coach behind you and join the team again… I promise you will become a ledgen in your on time sooner than you think…….

  13. BACON BITS says:

Just like every other hog fan, I am ready for the season to start. I am ready to put all of this mess behind us. The funny thing is that everyone who has a problem with HDN’s tenure here and his style of play calling will buy tickets to the game and/or be tuning in on saturday in front of the television.

I, just like every other hog fan, think they should win every game (that may be unrealistic) but no one expects to lose. That’s what makes sports fun to watch and why we pay money to see our favorite team play. As a fan, all I want from our team is to play with everything they have, because we are going to scream and yell with all we have.

With all that being said, let’s get together and pull for our favorite team. Let’s quit questioning our coach’s private lives and let them do their jobs. I try to attend at least 3/4 of the games in person and let me tell you. Whether we are good or bad, these other schools have respect for our school.
    Wooooo pig sooooweey!!!!!

  14. Heart of Swine says:

    Cowboy
Not only did Gus use Arkansas, but I’ll bet he’s just using Tulsa as a stepping stone to Henderson. It’s the next logical progression, don’t ya think?

  15. HankHog says:

    oldCowboy,

You say that Gus used everyone as a stepping stone. If that were true then why didn’t it work? Now don’t tell me that Tulsa was the next rung on the ladder because that would make no sense. He simply left a situation that any man with any kind of conscience would leave. Do you think he didn’t know what was going on with all of this text messaging junk. He was the smart one and got out because anyone with any brain at all sees that eventually this is going to take them all down.

As someone said above, this is all about telling the truth and standing behind your word. Forget everything in the 48 page document and all of the phone calls and text messages. This comes down to hiring a OC and telling him he will have full control of the offense and then not letting him have full control. It all went downhill after that.

  16. BlindHog says:

Woo Pig! It is like a cat chasing his tale, heard and said all this at least ten times now. We will all see what happens. I guess this is why soap operas are so popular. This should be a dandy.

Does the coach redeem himself or fall further into oblivion?

Does the star tailback win the heisman or fall victim to the lack of passing and fickle fans?

Does the young star QB make everyone forget his rival or lose his job to walk-on?

Does our story reach a final conclusion or is next year’s final chapter just another cliff hanger?

Knowing the teen drama queen I’m thinking it will be another big cliff hanger.

“See how the goofy but loveable head coach manages to win just enough games to keep his job and still create tons of confusion through mismanagement and disinformation.”

  17. brad says:

let’s quit trying to bring down the program

  18. BlindHog says:

Yeah, it’s all the fan’s fault. Frank and Houston are at our mercy, dangleing by a thread at our whim.

Oh, wait. It is actually their job. That’s right, the fans didn’t pick an OC. The fans didn’t bench the starting QB just in time to lose the three biggest games of the year. The fans didn’t hire a new OC to replace the OC of the year or run off last year’s top two recruits. They would have if they could but, only Dale could do that.

If the fans would only get on board and realize that they know nothing. Their job is to poney up the cash and keep their mouth shut. That’s how they support the program. But, the fans only want to destoy the program and everything that Dale has built. Why do they hate him so?

  19. Mike in Magnolia says:

Who that is blogging as personally talked to HDN and know for fact that he lied directly to you? Who can say that he had an affair with anyone? Does anyone blogging have a video or picture of this dreamed up affair? You say he lied about what offence he was going to run, can a coach change his mind based on his personel? I would think so.
My whole point is, once again, question his x’s and o’s but leave the personel life alone because no one and I mean NO one has any proof and that is the truth.

  20. BlindHog says:

NO, the text thing and the blonde were going too far. No one knows. Unless there are photos or eye witnesses, let that go. It should have never come up.

A coach who has been under the gun about his play calling for years and then after two losing seasons that should have at least made the weedeater bowl and was made by his AD to hire an OC against his will, well yes, if he changes his mind based on personel after nine months of saying otherwise, yes, he can expect a few comments.

  21. BlindHog says:

Some would even say that he knew his personel when he picked his new OC. Some would say that he knew his personel when commenting after spring practice or that he knew his personel after August 2-a-days. Some would say that some coaches would make those decisions based on personel and go with them. If Dale was not capable of making those decisions until mid season then he was just a bit slow coming to the party, perhaps.

Or, it has played out exactly as we all have seen and some are willing to admit it and others don’t want Dale to have to take any responsibility.

Give the poor boy a pass, several more seasons to prove himself, fine with me, just don’t call it anything but what it is. He has done OK, you like him or don’t think we will find anyone better, and HCs have to use people occasionally. Fine. YOu are OK with that.

  22. ReasonRules says:

If the bluetooth does not fit you must acquit.

  23. Hawgfan100 says:

Not a ‘hater’ or ‘hugger’ per se but a fan. A fan who is optimistic about the team and program in an otherwise cynical and pessimistic world-view. Do I think Nutt is perfect and unaccountable? Hell, no. Do I think he is satan personified? Hell, no. Do I like him? Yeah. Many of his comments and outlooks jibe with mine. Do I agree with him on everything? Nah, but then I’m not supposed to…and I can accept that without looking to hang him up by his balls.

I have a friend who is a long-time FSU fan. He just hates Bowden. Every year its the same thing (just like here…). The litany may change a bit due to wholesale replacements in the coaching lineup this year. However, if FSU doesn’t play AS WELL AS MY FRIEND EXPECTS, the “hang him up by his nuts” chants will return with a vengeance. My friend just hates him and nothing will change that. Sounds like a few people here.

Btw, who would we get thats better and would put up with all the sh** that comes with the job? If the basketball HC search is any indication; no one recognizable. When I’ve pointed out to my friend in the past that he’s too rough on Bowden (I mean, there are other reasons why teams lose than just coaching); he asks me if I’d like for the Hogs to have Bowden as HC. I always say “Sure, just turn the clock back 20 years.” ;^)

The haters will hate no matter what. The huggers will hug no matter what. And guys like me will still support the program and all it entails. Now let’s talk some football!

  24. GONZOHOG says:

You tell ‘em Hawgfan 100!! Look at Coker, down at Miami, if you want another example. He wins a National Championship, and then has a couple of sub-par years. Well whoop-te-do, somebody give me a tissue before I cry myself to death. Every program , and I mean EVERY program has it’s down years, from time to time. If a coach is still committed to coaching the team to another tital, then give him a couple of more years, for cryin out loud! Everyone wants to jump on Houston Nutt for any reason they can muster up, but at the same time they want Houston to fes up and tell the truth, and show some integrity, show some maturity. Well whoop-te-frickin-do, give me another tissue, and while your at it, take a good look in the mirrer. If you can’t say that Houston Nutt has mis-managed his job any more than Clinton did when he was screwing around with in-terns at the White House, when he should have been looking out for the best interests of this country, not to mention being loyal to his wife, and being a role model for our children, then SHUT THE HELL UP!!! And before someone jumps in and calls me a Nutt hugger, I still think Houston Nutt should have resigned, when the E-mails about Mitch unraveled everything. ‘Nough said!

  25. hogman says:

I think everyone needs to get off Houston Nutt and lets get excited about the GREAT opportunity we have next season of winning a National Championship and of Darren McFadden winning the Heisman Trophy . I think you are all afraid of him winning it and that you won’t get to fire him .Just look at the schedule ,because we will win it!!!! I think that Mitch didn’t really want to be a Razorback unless he could have his way, no matter how many interceptions he threw and the 7 games he won was mostly the result of Darren & Felix & the GREAT DEFENSE. Lets get on with it GO HAWGS!!!!!!!!!

  26. oldcowboy1953 says:

When Gus! falls on his face at Tulsa… You will see then that “His Eyes Were Bigger Than Is Stomach” Another words Gus bit off more than he could chew… But some folks have to learn the hard way… I know I’ve done it a few times… and I bet most of you have too…. GO Hogs!! and come on Guys! Lets get behind the Program… and pull for Our HOGS!!!! Wooe! Pig! Sooooooie!

  27. GONZOHOG says:

I have one good comment to make, without bringing up soap operas. We will be a better team next year, than we were last year. I don’t care about the weak schedual, just remember what I said when the regular season final poll comes out. We will be ranked somewhere in the top 15 in the pre-season. Alabama is not going to beat us, and neither is Auburn. Having said that, this only leaves a very improved Ole Miss team, at Oxford, and an LSU team, At Baton Rouge, that may not be as good as they were a year ago, without Russell at QB. South Carolina will not beat us at home, without Sidney Rice. If Casey Dick stay’s away from injury, I predict a return trip to Atlanta. Does anyone care to diagree, without bringing up the soap opera?

  28. Hawgfan100 says:

Not me…I’ve got $30 down with the FSU Fan that says the Hogs make it back to Atlanta. ;^)

  29. ReasonRules says:

I think it will be like every year. Other teams will fill up the box and dare us to throw. We have a brand new line on offense. That offensive line last year was what made D Mac and Felix. They are great backs but more will fall on their shoulders to create with a brand new line. The Wildcat will have been prepared for by most D Coordinators and it won’t be a surprise. Peyton (if he can stay healthy) will be a big help with short pass patterns and blocking. What I would really like to see? Have D Mac line up at quarterback and run the option with Jones and Williams.

I’m from the North and therefore a hater by definition of Diana, but I am still getting my five season tickets and won’t boo Houston, but am ready for him to grow up and shed that fragile ego.

  30. Mike in Magnolia says:

Does anyone know how are gold team is doing? Is there contraversy there? If not should we start some? JK JK JK
Go Hogs. Dang 5 months before football and 7 before basketball. What do we do in the mean time?

  31. 10KHog says:

Every time OleCowboy posts something I get the feeling he’s yelling at me… could it be the bold font and all caps formatting?

But, all I’m gonna say is your ideas and thoughts about Gus could not be any further from the truth.

  32. oldcowboy1953 says:

“LOL 10KHog” It’s just some people like to complain even if they have a LOL….. 10 Karte “Dick” in their “Pocket” with some big “Nutts”…. Me, Myself & I just can’t wait till the season begins… I see a Top 5 finsh for the Hogs! Wooe! Pig! Soooooooooooooie!

  33. Bluffhawg says:

    Great News Everyone!!!!!!!
“Ticket Sales Up This Year Over Last”

  34. Defense Wins Championships says:

If one goes to the newspapers to get “truths”, I have a nice piece of property in Florida that I would like to sell you! The ad is in the paper…so it must be true that it is not under water! Surely, you understand that the newspapers are many times nothing more than tabloids in today’s world. If that is where people go to get their “facts” on sports and other issues, this country is in deep trouble. It is a fantasy that newspapers in today’s society (and even in the past) can even half way be believed based upon what some writers say. Anyone who has followed the newspaper business knows that readership is going down sharply in most areas. Why? Believability of the media and the internet. Most realize that polls that I have seen hold the news media in low esteem, right with used car salesmen. I have seen good media and bad media and good used car salesmen and bad news car salesmen. To stir people to buy and read the newspapers, they appear to mostly hire those who will stir things up to get people talking and buying. I once had a “front row” seat as to how writers can and do skew the truth by my being intimately involved with an issue. Fortunately, there was another newspaper that looked for the facts and set the record straight. Otherwise, careers could have been ruined because the other writer obviously believed facts are not important…just his pay check or point of view was important. I do not believe writers are in the position to know facts in these issues, nor are most fans, just the ones that were personally involved. The ones personally involved are the ones who were in on every discussion. And even among those who personally were in the discussions, there will be honest differences in what they believe they heard. Bare in mind that in every company and family, communication is their number one nemesis. English is perhaps one of the poorest languages to communicate with others, but we are stuck with it. One can work on communications and I guarantee you that communication will remain a problem. Everyone has an opinion and that is what it is an opinion. Everyone has one…just as I do! People should not be out to hurt people and families for that is not right. Let’s support our Hogs…yes…the coaches, too, and have fun and not get caught up in any “gossip” shows. Unfortunately, some do not believe in right or wrong and will call right wrong and wrong right and will ironically use the word “right” to say, “What is wrong with that?
