I said before that the fortunes of this team rest with the offensive line. After looking at the photos and reading the bios I feel even more convinced that this will be a work in progress. Fortunately we only have Alabama until mid October so this group can have a few games to get ready.
Replacements and injuries on the defense are well documented but Reggie is now established as the true emotional leader of the defense. It is hard to see the defense not playing with passion.
All told, barring key injuries, we should be back in Atlanta with a few key passes and a split in the Knoxville/Baton Rouge road trips.
It is time to win it ALL. Go Hogs!!
I like the combination of Matt Hewitt and Michael Grant at strong and free safety. Hewitt will come up and strike like an extra LB, and Grant has that speed you need from your free safety.
Is anyone else a little surprised that incomming freshman Alex Tejada was not listed as first team PK? I guess they were a little "gun shy" about naming anyone from Springdale as a starter.
It's kinda ironic to me that Petrus is listed to replace the person (Stephen Parker) that clubbed him at Auburn for getting the personal foul penalty that cost us a first down late in the game.
I agree with BlindHog, in that our O-line will be a work in progress, but I think they will be ok. I am more concerned with LB and CB than anything. We cannot afford any injuries at those positions. As far as the kicker goes, it would have been a mistake to pronounce Tejada the starter, when he won't even be enroled in school until August. This team has a lot of potential, and has a lot to play for. I think Malcolm Shepard will be a star in the coming years. I'm also looking forward to seeing Peyton Hillis back on the field again. I was a little suprised to see Ben Cleveland behind Andrew Davie, at TE.
To "Walking On Sunshine"- Ha ha, very witty, but they aren't gonna name somebody a starter when he isn't even on campus yet.
They've done it before.
i think that the hogs will do better this year then last, bc of the fact that the defence will be great, the are all ball hungry at safety hard hitters wit matt and great speed and hands wit grant and at conner red is a 4th yr sr and norton who is young but yet a ball hog wen its in the air will be great for us this year
