Colt Brennan's 6 TDs were in the first half of the game. How can he not be the Heisman leader after that kind of start?
No doubt that Colt Brennan will throw 50 TDs this year but who cares? McFadden probablly won't win it but few seem to doubt he is the best talent in the country. The Heisman is such a farce does it matter who wins? If Felix puts up 300 yards in total offense again then we are going to have an issue on our hands deciding which one of our horses should be more heavily promoted.
Not that its new or suprising but we really get no national respect. ESPN.com said if McFadden played for a legetimate conference contender he'd be a clear frontrunner. I'm not saying we are going to win the SEC but does not returning more than half your starters off a team that played in the Championship game last year at least make you a contender?
I'm not going to argue that our QB play was above par but…holding us back? We racked up like 500 yards of offense and scored 46 points.
And we played Troy… what's your point?
This guy has Brennan as the leader:

Pretty good article.
But I still think DMac will show enough AND get his team back to the SECCG. But hey, I'm biased.
WPS GHG!
ESPN and everyone else is blabbering the same ol, same ol stuff again, for the 2nd straight year. They continued to promote Auburn last year, after the Arkansas spanking, because of the spanking we got from USC. It was just too hard to accept the fact that the Hogs were good enough to win. The very next week the Tigers took out thier frustrations on the Gators, and everyone of those guys said see, We told you the Arkansas game was a fluke, and continued promoting thier favorite to win the SEC. The only problem was, the Hogs kept winning, and the Tigers got thier butts kicked a 2nd time at home, by the Georgia Bulldogs. Just to make a point, we were a run, run, run, team last year too. We kicked the dog doo out of the 2nd ranked team in the land, on thier field. We were (Mustain) 7-10 passing, and who was the #1 target? You guessed it, Peyton Hillis, coming out of the backfield on swing plays, screens and dump plays, over the middle, combined with big runs from D-Mac and Felix, to set up Monk for a Big TD pass. Doesn't sound too far from what we did the other night, as far as the game plan goes. I wonder why it was OK then, but closer to sub-par know?
You are right. And the answer is: Lack of football knowledge or analytical ability with some of our fans.
With many Arkansas football fans going back at least 40 perhaps 50 years, they have been pass, pass happy fans with an occasional run thrown in. Passing tends to be exciting to these fans whether the pass is caught, dropped, or intercepted. And as Coach Hatfield said this is the McDonald society. They want everything quick and easy. However, without a running game teams will sink. And without a great defense, they fade fast.
I have always though a lot of Arkansas fans were pass happy. What is so strange is that the Razorbacks won the SEC West Championship in 2006 but some of them could not enjoy it because they wanted more passing. I guarantee that more passing last year and this year will lead to less than what it could be running the ball with these great backs. At one time, Washington Redskin fans were the same way about passing because they were raised on Sonny Jurgenson. Even whenever George Allen became HC and established a run, run offense and won the Super Bowl those same pass, pass fans were not happy. They scratched their pickled heads and could not figure out how Allen did it! Same will be with some Hog fans. If the Razorbacks win the SEC and BCS Championship game, the very next year these fans will be yelling for more and more passing. They seem to not be able to help themselves.
Another thing: Houston Nutt is a great coach because he molds his team to what they do best. All great coaches do that. If next year or subsequent years, according to the talent of those on board that could potentially change, just as he did when he had Clint Stoerner. Some folks do not ever catch on to the fact that the coaches will call the plays according to what the other team is willing to give you. Somehow that just does not seem to resonate in the pickled brains of some sports addicts. Duuh!
OK…this poll is now a joke. Any poll with Michigan still in the top 25 is not legit. Give me a break.
Hogsdill, I disagree… one game doesn't make Michigan a bad team… maybe, they really just got surprised. If so, what if they win all of their remaining games? Probably does make it likely that they overlooked ASU. They will probably be close to a #5 team again at the end of the year. If they lose again (and soon), they were over-rated from the get go. However, it is just too early to call the poll not legit.
Hogsdill…I gave Sunshine crap for leaving them in, too!
Note, though, that even though Sunshine made the (courageous or crazy?) choice not to drop them from his ballot, they did fall out of the full BlogPoll.
But I agree with Owasso…it's early enough that it wouldn't surprise me if they earned their way back in before the season's over. But I don't agree that they'll sniff the top 10 again any time soon…
Owasso, one game doesn't make them a bad team, but it does when it's 1-AA and at home. Stop listening to the ESPN Big Ten hype machine.
If they can beat Wisconsin and OSU, then yea, they could sniff the top ten again. But they are no top 5 team.
You made 2 references to Soph QB's who seem to be excelling. I wonder why our Jr QB can't excell? We could have had a…. OK, I'll stop.
Ok… I take back any chance for Michigan to be a top team… they are getting creamed by Oregon 32-7 before half! Ouch!
I'm convinced too Owasso. The Wolverines just aren't a very good football team this year. There is still time to crack the top 25 again, and even the top 15 maybe, but there will have to be an abundance of improving before that will happen. Loyd Carr is a good man, but if he loses a couple of more before they even play Ohio St., it will probably be time for him to go. I didn't even see a spec of what I call Wolverine football today. It very well could be time for a "changing of the guard".
