Casey Dick is the worst QB in Division 1 Football.
You can put it on the secondary, but they made plays when they needed to, until they got exhausted. You can put it on the offensive line, but it’s kind of hard to get separation when they’ve got 11 guys in the box. You can put it on DMac and Jones and heat exhaustion. But Jones was brilliant, and DMac had flashes. They did their jobs, put points on the board.
They need one, (1), uno, singular, a sustained drive. That’s it. And Dick couldn’t do it. Every. Single. Pass. was behind receivers, above receivers, hard to catch. A friend called me yelling about a dropped pass. I told him to watch the replay. Pass was behind him. I can’t believe how bad Casey was. This has nothing to do with Mitch Mustain. It has everything to do with the fact that Nutt knows and has known that Casey Dick is a waste of space at quarterback. And he didn’t do anything about it.
There are a ton of things to point to in this game, including great play down the stretch by Kentucky’s offense.
But you can hang this one on Casey Dick, the worst quarterback in college football.
I say this one is on NUTT!!! Just like last week we were ahead and I knew we were gonna lose because the defense let the other team drive down the field and score with little problem, but we were still ahead at that time. So we get the ball and move it a little this week to a fourth and one and WE PUNT!!!!!. Give me a freaking break!!!!! They just proved they can beat our defense all the way down the field and we give it right back to them!!!! Why not just forfiet right there. Then when they score we get the ball back with a slim chance and the offence SUCKS!!!! Then on forth and forever thats when we decide to go for it? Worst coaching I have seen yet!!!
I have my doubts we make a bowl game at all. SC, LSU, MSU are gonna be loses mark it down.
How can they go into this year with Dick still at QB? This season was done when he took his first snap!!!! And don’t even get me started on the fine coaching job by Mr. Nut job himself. Back to back weeks with thelead in the final minutes and stupid playcalling and stupid penalties, all this is a direct reflection of the man running the show. Take a nice long look at McFadden because Nutt is trying to run that man into the ground, we’ll be lucky if he’s walking by season end.

Almost 500 yards of offense and only one touchdown. Some shoot out. We are staring down the barrel of 6-6.
Even a ball control team has to convert in critical situations and score points. The 4-7 Robert Johnson year should have taught us that. I have no doubt that Casey looked good on the scout team that year, he was running the other teams offense. No, this goes on the head of Dale Nutt, not Casey Dick. Tavaris Jackson is starting in the NFL. Cole Barthel is lighting up Division II football. Dale is the anti-QB coach. He starts by destroying a QBs rhythm and confidence and finishes by giving him a junior high offense to run.
One thing about Casey is that he seems to run hot and cold. If he has had a good game like last week then you had better watch him carefully the next week. If one of the Nathan’s doesn’t get his job we will see how many good games he can have in a 12 game season.
Football is a team game. This one was lost by offense, defense and special teams. How Shibest even has a job this morning is beyond me. Reggie still thinks this is about his manhood rather than developing a scheme to fit your players, finding matchups, and matching wits with the other team’s OC.
This team is not there emotionally. They have not played a full 60 minutes yet this year. I don’t know if they played too hard to save Dale’s job last year, were worn out by the soap opera this spring, or have just given up on this coaching staff but, they do not come to play. Maybe they just spent all summer looking at their no. 16 ranking and reading their press clippings about having the best tailback tandem in America.
I forgot to put my email on my game prediction. I have included it here. I wear a XXL.
Like most of you all, I am so disgusted. It totally breaks my heart to see this team waste the talent that we have had the past two seasons. I know in my heart that if we had any passing attack last year, we would be national champs. This year should have had some drop off, but we still should have had a strong season. I am not giving up, but obviously we won’t make a BCS bowl. I am tired of being a middle of the pack SEC team, and being happy when we go 10-4. There’s so much love for the states’ only ‘pro’ team. I expect several changes before next year, which in it self will be trying again. I only hope the changes made will be for winning it ALL and not settling for just getting to the SEC championship. I love this team, probably too much. I will get off of my soap box now and enjoy the last few games of our stud running backs (that are already exhausted). I enjoy this site, as if I we’re on crack, and most of the posts. Keep up the good work, and I am still waiting on my t-shirt (week 1 winner)… hahaha Go Hogs Go!!!
I agree that the Razorback QB is probably the worst QB, but if a defense gives up 41 points a game, it doesn’t matter if you have P. Manning at the QB your just not going to win. Defense sucks and that is the main reason why Arkansas is going no anywhere this year
Putting all the blame on Dick is simplistic and is counter productive at this juncture. Whether one likes it or not Dick is the only QB with experience that we have. One of Dick’s problems is that he doesn’t have receivers to throw to. They don’t get separation and run uncreative routes. Add to that, I don’t get the feeling that Dick is allowed to make decisions as to who he should throw to. My biggest disappointment was not giving the ball to McFadden to go wide early in the game when it was 4th and very short for a TD. I said earlier that Arkansas needed to get TDs in the red zone and FGs were not going to get it done. Nutt is again coaching not to lose rather than to win. Perhaps it should now be clear to the Head Hog that his pass defense can’t stop Grandma Moses. And the upcoming SEC teams have good QBs. So you have to figure out a way to outscore those guys. Apparently running McFadden between the tackles late in the game doesn’t getter done. Hoping that Felix can get you back with a kick-off return is a nice thought but most kick-offs are done after the opponent has scored. Best way to outscore your opponent is through the air. Consider that Alabama came from 10 points down to Georgia (and Arkansas) with passing, and then Georgia won it in overtime, with a pass. Tiffen kicked a field goal in the first series. So what? It was interesting that all the TV pundits were saying that Arkansas would wear Kentucky out. On the contrary, it was Kentucky that wore out the Hogs. The Pig defense at the end was so inadequate that it gave a third string running back a chance for a starting position. And in case, no one else noticed, McFadden was out of gas at the end.
But can Arkansas develope a passing game in the upcoming weeks? For what it’s worth Casey’s brother Nathan is more of a running QB than Casey. Folks from Allen say that Nathan is an even a better passer. Will Nutt use the cupcakes to test this or at least try to expand the passing game? Or will Nutt use the opportunity to pad McFadden’s stats for the Heisman?. That would look good on Nutt’s resume for his new coaching position next year. Maybe Murray State? I am not being facetious. Next year if both McFadden and Jones, along with Monk and Hillis, go to the NFL the cupboard is bare. A ball control offense with Fish and Smith? Dick still without receivers? Will the fans trust Nutt to rebuild the team? I don’t think so. Unless Nutt wins out, and goes to a BCS bowl, and McFadden wins the Heisman. I wonder what Vegas would say about those odds. The only way to become competitive in the SEC is to have a passing game, even if you don’t have much of a running game (Tennessee). But what outstanding QB and receiving prospects would come to Fayetteville with its reputation as a graveyard for passing? Don’t think that opposing coaches don’t use this as a recruiting tool. Nutt might actually retire, at least momentarily, using stress as an out. It may be impossible to attract the kind of a coach needed with the personnel the Razorbacks will have next year. Remember the basketball search fiasco and the basketball team has far more competitive talent than next year’s football team. But it can be done. Look at Kentucky.
Also, suddenly, the Heisman race is now a real race. The Heisman does not necessarily go to the best player in the country, but traditionally the best player on a championship team, or on a top 5 team. If superman Tim Tebow keeps putting up those remarkable numbers and Florida wins through then the Florida PR machine will go into overdrive. McFadden is undoubtedly the best running back in the country and it will be proven in the NFL draft but it might not be enough for a player from a mediocre team.
I thought it interesting that TV commentators would put up Reggie Herring’s list of things that will you beat you. Poor play calling and game preparation by the coaching staff was strangely missing.
We are freakin’ terrible. For some reason, I was NOT impressed with UK. We just suck more than they do. When does basketball season start? Can’t wait.
Hogsdill,
Kentucky was impressive actually. They had the ability to move the chains with a grind it out offense. Our offense is built on home run plays only. We can’t put a drive together, case in point, the previous two loses.
And can any of you imagine we were mad or irritated that Nutt would shop his services around a couple of years back? And we took the 2 year free pass line from Frank and Nutt hook line and sinker.
We took it, hook, line, and sinker, because we are Hog fans. We want to believe it, so we do. I am very disappointed by this loss. I honestly thought we would improve the defense, and win this game. There is no real reason why HDN can’t manage a football game, with the talent he has, and 10 years of exsperience in the SEC. I had my doubts 2 years ago, and second guessed my doubts last year, by reserving judgement 1 more year, because of the 10 wins, combined with what we had coming back this year. Possibly, I was caught up with all the Hiesman hype, and I honestly believed Casey Dick would come through. I still believe Casey has the talent to make a good QB, but it probably won’t happen with Houston’s offensive philosophy. Someone had said in an earlier post, that David Lee was only a puppet to Houston Nutt, and from what I have seen in 2 consecutive SEC games now, it may be true. It’s awefully hard to believe David Lee’s play calling is that bad, especially since the play calling resembles what Houston had been calling for years before Malzahn had even been hired. Maybe, just Maybe, Chancellor White had it in mind to make sure, that changes were made at years end, if Nutt couldn’t get the job done, when he hired Jeff Long, and if he did, I hope Mr. Long does his job. Here’s to the future of Razorback football, GO HOGS GO!!!!!
Wood, sure UK can move the ball impressively. But they gave us every chance to win the game. They fumbled, had bad penalities, missed field goal, gave up a defensive TD, and a kickoff TD. Yet we still couldn’t win. We just sucked more than they did last night.
