A good win for the Hogs. Glad to see we didn’t lay another egg. (Tenn. Chatt.) It’s also good to see Marcus Monk back in the line up. Hopefully, his confidence will be back where it need’s to be before the SC game. Isn’t it ironic that Casey went down the same day Marcus came back? Casey should be OK, be we really don’t know just how beat up he is right now. It was good to see Nathen Emert come in and take over like he did. I thought he led his team well. He didn’t put up great numbers, but I thought he did a very good job of making the right decisions and making the plays he needed to. Not bad for the backup QB. SC would be much tougher to overcome, with the playmakers they have on defense, but this young man’s confidence should be up after a solid performance. Our defense, overall, look’s like it will continue to get better and better. Fla. Int’s QB is a playmaker, but that’s where it ends. The defense gave him some big plays early on, but made some good adjustments to overcome his talents. I hope we bring everything we have against SC. We have to open up the offense a lot more than what we did against Auburn. It should be obvious to Nutt by now Darren isn’t going to win the Hiesman, so this should be a no-brainer. SC already went through thier “big-head” stage, after making it to #6 and laying an egg against Vandy, so they should be re-focused. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Houston Nutt to prepare the team, but here goes rooting for my beloved Hogs once again, GO HOGS GO!!!!! BEAT SC!!!!!

Well, we’re 2-0 in the second season. Maybe this is a good time for a little retrospective, alittle what if with SCar and Tenn on the horizon. If FIU forced us to throw the ball you can only imagine what SEC teams will do. Felix is clearly the stronger back right now. Darren is the victim of a simple minded approach to offense and winning the Heisman. I would say Emert makes you wonder why we didn’t see him a little sooner but we actually saw so little of Casey it wouldn’t have mattered much. He should actually benefit from coming on late when we have finally figured out that we must throw some. Casey may have the stronger arm but Emert delivers with a little touch and on target.

Of all the return from the dead seasons this is the only real What If season of the bunch. In all the others it was pretty clear that we had no answers to start the season and put some together along the. This team is almost the opposite. We had so many options, so many opportunities that were left in the playbook in an effort to prove Dale was as smart as Gus and win the Heisman. Of course Dale is not as smart as Gus and losing teams don’t produce Heisman candidates. You can only dream of what could have been accomplished by Gus or another offensive mind working with all the weapons in this offense.

We may actually be seeing a little of David Lee at this point. We will see how well he can do against an SEC defense.

We are catching SCar between Tenn and Fla. They should provide a good next step in the second season. If we want to go to the Cotton Bowl we will have to beat a hungry East leading Tenn in Knoxville. On the other hand, if you lose to SCar at home you have to begin to worry about a Miss State team anxious to become bowl eligible.

Emert may not have the passing range of Casey, but I like his passes. So…accurate, but I am not sure how much he was pressured which would have changed the situation dramatically. On Case, I would love to see him adjust to throwing the ball away instead of eating it so much.

It has been a whacky season across the country in most cases. Who would have THUNK that USC (left coast) would have all of those losses with top talent. Perhaps, it is due to players leaving early for the draft or the 85 scholarship limits. I have not kept up with them statistically…so not sure what bug bit them. I would not even try to guess who will make it to Numero Uno or Dos, but if it is against a strong SEC team it very well could be another romp for the SEC. However, it really matters most who the match ups are for I am a strong believer in some teams matching up better against certain teams (i.e. Ole Miss vs. Arkansas). I am not convinced that Ohio State and Boston College belong on top…but we shall see how it all plays out. And there is Oklahome. Not sure how strong they are. Texas, this year, are certainly not world beaters and Oklahoma beat them but not impressively But a win is a win. Style points do not count except with the fans.

If Houston decides to take another job, who do you want? What style ball?

How about an exciting one… that isn’t predictable?

How about an innovated person who might be under the radar, like Gus? There are going to be alot of choice jobs after the season so they better choose fast. I am leaning toward Terry Bowden, not sure if the administration would consider him but he has been away from grind and has observed alot and let’s face it he comes from good pedigree and knows how to recruit.

7, 11? That usually doesn’t mean turnovers where I’m from Mr. Holt.
