Chattanooga Preview: Mocs In The Rock

October 3, 2007 by Walking on Sunshine

For the second straight week, the Razorbacks will play bad hosts to a less than formidable foe.  The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Moccasins are the victim this time and the Hogs should be able to name their score in front of a capacity crowd in Little Rock.

Darren McFadden (AP Photo/Danny Johnston)Competing in the same I-AA conference (the Southern Conference) as Appalachian State, the Mocs roll in sporting a 1-3 record after dropping a 41-16 decision to The Citadel.

Appalachian State…The Citadel…anyone getting nervous?  Don’t.  The Mocs are here to collect their $325,000 (preferably in small, unmarked bills) and then get back on the bus.

Even our old buddy Jack Crowe, now at Jacksonville State, handled UTC 33-19 in week 2 this season.  And, by the way, that’s the one and only win for Crowe and the Gamecocks this season.

Also of interest…for the second week in a row, the opposing coach is an old quarterback from the Southwest Conference days.  Coach Rodney Allison played for Texas Tech from 1974-77, and actually squared off against current Razorback Offensive Coordinator David Lee in the 1974 Peach Bowl when Lee was the quarterback at Vanderbilt.

On offense, the Mocs average just a meager 275.5 total yards a game, with 97.5 of those yards on the ground.  If UTC scores, it will just be an accident.  The Chattanooga defense hasn’t been anything to write home about either, giving up 35.2 points per contest.

So if you’re going to the game…go early, enjoy the tailgating, and get to your seats quick.  This one may be over before the first coke gets spilled.  The real test comes next week against Auburn.
