Weekly Predictions – Auburn

October 11, 2007 at 8:35am by TipsterHog
Filed under Arkansas Razorbacks, Football

Congratulations to reader J-Dub for the closest prediction last week of 44-10.  His quote: “The duo of McFadden and Jones will get another chance to cool their heels in the second half of the game by wearing baseball caps on the sideline.”  Hopefully McFadden was able to wear his cap while he got his CT scan.

For winning our weekly contest (by basically submitting the most conservative score!), J-Dub receives a spiffy RazorBloggers t-shirt from our Carpenter Clothing Co. friends.  (By the way, J-Dub…you’ve got mail.)

We’re still trying to figure out what our grand prize should be for our little mini-contest amongst the RazorBloggers.  (HogBlogger, TipsterHog and HogBaller tied at two…Sunshine has one point.)  Hmmm…maybe tickets to watch the Hogs play in the SEC Championship game?  Nah…we’ll let LSU go this year.

So here we go:

Auburn TigersWalking on Sunshine: Pay close attention to who is winning the line of scrimmage early in this game.  That will tell the tale.  Given our inability to stop the run consistently and Auburn’s improved rushing attack, look for this one to be decided by halftime.  When it’s over, there’ll be no way to spin this one.  Auburn 40, Arkansas 20.

HogBaller: At the beginning of the season I picked Auburn to beat Arkansas and nothing I’ve seen in five games has changed my mind.  They’ll be ready for the Hogs rushing attack, but McFadden will still put on a show for the national audience.  Auburn 45, Arkansas 31.

HogBlogger: Auburn’s team is coming together while the Razorbacks…anyway, if Peyton Hillis’ confidence has ‘shot downhill,’ then mine has, too.  No other commentary required.  Auburn 34, Arkansas 17.

TipsterHog: What the heck do we know?  I mean…we all picked Auburn to win last year, too.  Auburn 38, Arkansas 27.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “Tommy T. enjoys smelling like a wet Hog” or “Nutt has 9,347 lives.  Hogs roll.”

    Auburn 35
    Arkansas 20

We have two plays: DMac as battering ram up the middle and Felix to the outside. Tommy T had us game planned last year, but the Gus/Mitch factor made things a bit harder than he expected. Now with them gone this could get ugly. Game, Set, Match on the Razorback season… Nutt’s record under DMac gets closer and closer to .500

  2. OwassoHog says:

39-24 Tigers – hopes for DMac and the Hogs go down the drain with boos coming early and joined by ESPN analyst. :-(

  3. BlindHog says:

Just like last year only different.

    Auburn 27-10

  4. Hogs 16- Auburn 6 at halftime

Jesus comes back to earth at halftime to take up His Saints to heaven.

    Weird game.

  5. mac says:

confession….i don’t have the first damn clue. i’m going to drink the koolaid for one more week. screw me this time boys (and by that, i mean the coaching staff) and i’m done with this “glass half full” stuff.

    hogs – 28
    tiggers – 27

  6. J-Dub says:

The is a tough game to predict. Which Arkansas team will take the field (Dr. Jerkyl or Mr. Hyde). If Arkansas plays like Porky-the-Pig and stutter and toot around, then it will be a blow out for Auburn.

I think that Houston Nutt will pull out every trick that he has and have a lucky bounce to save his assets.

    Hogs win 27 to 24.

  7. BIG DAN says:

hogs win in close one. HOGS 30 TIGERS 24
DMAC 2 TOUCHDOWNS ONE FOR 80YD
    FELIX RETURNS ONE FOR TOUCHDOWN
    ALEX 3 FIELD GOALS

  8. Carrmaduke says:

Nutt’s back is against a wall…again…and the team usually rallies for him when this is the case, and I think they do again. I love Kool-Aid!

    Hogs 37
    Tigers 17

If the Hogs lose this game, rally time is over, and so is the season, and look for it to be as ugly a finish as we’ve seen around here in a long time.

  9. HJHog says:

Okay Sunshine, I’m calling you out this week. How can you pick us to lose AND have Arkansas listed as a possible Top 25. Here is your “Other considered” section:

Michigan, Texas A&M, Purdue, Arkansas, Alabama, Penn State, Nebraska, Clemson, Rutgers, Indiana.

Quit riding the fence. Are we in or out?:)

Well since I’m here, I’ll make my prediction early:

    Hogs 21
    War Eagle 42

This is the one that breaks the camel’s back. HDN is shown to be TOO predictable…again. DMAC does all he can, but he is wearing a big target on his jersey and the “War Eagle” has its eye directly on the bulls eye.

By the way, why doesn’t Auburn just go ahead and change their mascot? There are already enough “Tigers” and they seem to love the “War Eagle” thing. Come on Auburn step up to the plate. Arkansas did it years ago. Take the dive!!! Do it for Anvre! Ssee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Eagle for more info…

  10. Boyer in the District says:

Honestly – HELL if I know anymore.

Something tells me the team might have been looking ahead last week. I didn’t see the game, but I do know that going into it all the hype was that UTC was even WORSE than North Texas. That certainly radiated through the Hogs, and the performance showed.

They’ll have it together. They have to, and Nutt knows it. There’s a career involved here.

    Hogs 31
    Auburn 21

  11. lonokear1 (female) says:

    Auburn 27
    Arkansas 17

    Against my husband wishes.

  12. Guinness Snout says:

I’ll take my Koolaid frozen on a toothpick

    UA – 36
    AU – 24

  13. darrell(Hog in LA) says:

I think Hogblogger Jr is on to something only this year Kodi Burns is the X-Factor, because we all know what the Razorback are limited offensively. Umm let’s say Hogs 31-21, depending on if DMAC and Felix can get going and Casey can complete a pass otherwise it is other way around. Tigers win 31-21.

  14. 2 Tour Hog says:

    Aub – 38

    Ark – 20

  15. Mike D says:

ARKANSAS ALL THE WAY BABY!!! In MY opinion, everyone is over-rating this Auburn team. It will be closer than last year’s game… only for the first 2 quarters. In the 2nd half… ALL HOGS. Tejada has at least 4 field goals and our running games still remains the best in the nation. My prediction is…

    Razorbacks 41
    War Eagle 27

    WOOOOOOOOOOO… PIG!!! SOOOOOIIIIEEEEE!!!!!

  16. Reason Rules says:

    Auburn 30 Arkansas 24

We call time out as Auburn goes for two and fans boo.

  17. ig_ghos says:

I’m not old enough to remember Arkansas consistently winning, but I am old enough to remember everything bad that’s happened with the football program in the past 15 years. The Lord has no mercy, Nutt will survive another year.

    Tigers 27
    Razorbacks 39

  18. mike in magnolia says:

    Ok here we go.
    Hogs 14
    Auburn 10

  19. Hog 'n Iowa says:

I hope (dream, more like it) the Hogs have been holding something back and are just waiting to spring it this weekend. Until they prove me wrong…

    AU 24 – UA 20

  20. Roger Gowens says:

Tigers or War Eagles, whatever they’re calling themselves this week, Au-burns the Hogs 23-20, with Kodi Burns scoring the winning TD.

  21. D A in MTN HOME says:

I’ve been reading blogs on here for a very long time, but just recently I’ve been posting my own. From my prospective we all still believe in our beloved HOGS.They are all we have. This weekends game against AUB is our season!!!Unfortunately, I believe this is going to be a payback butt whooping Brighter days are ahead just not this year. AUB 38 ARK 13

  22. Dan says:

This one is tough. Gotta have faith though. Dmac breaks the schools rushing record. Hogs pull out a close one, nudging them back into the Top 25 picture.

    Arkansas 31
    Auburn 30

  23. GonzoHog says:

This one is really hard to figure. I agree with D A in MTN HOME about it being a payback game. They were definately looking past us last year after we beat a lousy Utah ST. team at home. They were also ranked #2 at the time, and had the Hogs at home. USC was the only team ranked ahead of them at that time, and we all know what they did to us in Fayetteville. So did the Tigers. After we shocked the life back into them, they dismantled the Gators the following week. This game is what the Tigers have been waiting for. They’ve already taken care of the Gators this time. Now it’s PAYBACK!!! The Tigers are catching us at the perfect time. Tigers 34 – Hogs 17.

  24. Money Hog says:

Lee Ziemba and Kodi Burns also think Houston Nutt is a dork.

    Arkansas 17
    Auburn 31

  25. HogBlogger says:

I love it. You guys are great. This is the most fun post of the week.

Personally, I hope we kill Auburn. I’d love to enjoy that.

  26. Sactown Hog says:

Does anybody in Arkansas still have any faith or are we just rooting for anybody that plays against the Razorback.

Arkansas won’t go winless in the SEC. Anybody that is a true Razorback fan should know that in the SEC, any team can beat any team on any given Saturday.

Hopefully the team makes adjustments from last week and hopefully last weeks game was just a trap game.

    Hogs 37
    Tigers 31

    Go Hogs Go!!

  27. Waldron Hog says:

    Hogs – 13
    Tigers/War Eagles – 31

DN won’t be on the sideline or in the coaches booth.
McFadden isn’t in the game at the end. He’ll be tired or hurt.
    Another poor passing game effort.
    Lot’s of booing.

    I hope I’m wrong!

  28. T-towner says:

A classic game wherein field position, defense and limited turnovers determine the winner:

    Arkansas 27
    Auburn 20

  29. wheres the banner says:

We run DMAC 35+ and Nutt finally breaks our #1 offensive weapon. Felix has another good day, but unfortunately TT knows we will run off-tackle 40+ times and has already finished his defensive gameplan (it took him 2 min)
We get embarrassed on ESPN (again) by completing more passes downfield to Auburn than to our own recievers.

The boo birds will be louder for our own team than when Kodi walks out to take snaps.

    The end is near.

    Hogs 18 WarTigereagles 37

  30. RazorEE says:

    We own Auburn :-) Arkansas – 23 Auburn – 17

  31. Still keeping the faith, at least a little bit:

    Go Hogs: 31
    War Eagle: 27

  32. Nuclearhog says:

I will be glued to the TV pulling for the Hogs as much as anyone. But, Nutt and his hand picked coaches have not prepared this team for victory. I was fooled into believing that our defense would be good this year. Last year we would get a lead and set back on our defense. This year we have attempted the same game plan, but our defense gets worse as the game goes on(conditioning? coaching? schemes?) All this being said I will predict against my beloved Razorbacks for the first time since last years Auburn game.

    Auburn: 31
    Arkansas: 20

  33. Nuclearhog says:

Wow, I didnt read the other threads until after I posted. Has anyone noticed how many 31 predictions there are. Thats just wierd.

  34. HOGFAN23 says:

Auburn underestimates the Hogs. Team has it’s back against the wall.

    Hogs-42
    Tigers-31

  35. High on the... says:

    28 -24 Hogs

    P. Hillis has a big game. Felix is Felix, but DMac has a little different than usual catching 5 passes 2 for TDs.

  36. semohawg says:

    call me delusional buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

    ——–pigs——33
    ——–tubs——31

tejeda kicks it with .00 on the clock. twice because tubs saw it work on espn.

  37. shawhog says:

say goodbye to d-macs heisman hopes:

    auburn: 38
    hogs: 17

  38. razorblade says:

    Hogs: 33
    Tigs: 28

  39. oldskooljt says:

I wanna believe but at the point, the Hogs need to show me something…

    PLEEEEASE Hogs…Prove me wrong!!

    Aub 34
    Ark 24

  40. HogNEdmond says:

I have absolutely no idea what team is going to show up from quarter-to-quarter, let alone week-to-week. I feel that this is the week the Hogs get everything together and D-mac explodes.

So, admitting how little I’ve been right so far this season, I’ll say:

    Auburn 45
    Hogs 30
