Bowl Predictions - Missouri
December 28, 2007 by TipsterHog
Congratulations to HOGFAN23 for the closest prediction last time of 34-31. His quote: “When did LSU become the greatest team ever? What has been said all year will ring true…if we do what we do well, we’ll win.” I gotta give it to you, HOGFAN23…that was the pick of the year. I guess we’ll see now if ‘The Ohio State University’ can do what they do well against the Bayou Bengals.
For correctly predicting the first Razorback victory over a top-ranked team in 26 years, HOGFAN23 received a RazorBloggers Network T-shirt courtesy of Carpenter Clothing Co. (Thanks again to those guys for sponsoring our predictions contest this year.) And for those (three) of you who have been wondering all season what a RBN T-shirt looks like, click here for your wait to be finally over. Nice and understated, huh?
As for our own mini-predictions contest, it comes down to the last game: HogBlogger 5, TipsterHog 4…while Sunshine and HogBaller are on the outside looking in. (Although props to HogBaller for predicting a victory over LSU.)
So here we go:
Walking on Sunshine: I have no doubt that Louis Campbell will do all he can do to scheme a good defensive plan, but I worry that our offensive studs will play it safe in their finale. Missouri 30, Arkansas 22.
HogBaller: I think the Razorback players and coaches have something to prove in this game. David Lee may finally get to turn it loose now that the ‘Ole Play Caller’ has moved on to Ole Miss. Arkansas 38, Missouri 21.
HogBlogger: While both teams averaged 40 points a game in the regular season, getting back on track after the break is harder for a passing team than a running team. The Razorback players are looking to get noticed for their excellent last half of the year. Herring wants to prove he is head coaching material. Missouri wants to prove they should have been BCS bowl bound. I like the Hogs. Arkansas 35, Missouri 31.
TipsterHog: The only time I got to watch Missouri play this year was against Oklahoma. And while the Tigers held their own in both games, the Sooners defeated them twice while averaging over 3.5 yards per carry. If we don’t come close to doubling that stat, I’ll be very surprised. Arkansas 41, Missouri 31.
Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick. And feel free to add your own take like “Daniel and McFadden prove Heisman voters were wrong” or “We’ve already shown we can beat Tigers. Hogs roll.”

Big 12 vs SEC. Arkansas is a team on the rise, ready to end the season in style. Still, it has been a year without focus because of the distractions and now Darren may be questionable. Reggie is the difference. He wants to win and plays to win.
Arkansas 41-38
I see our game plan being similar to Oklahoma had in the
Big 12 Championship game. We are not as talented as Oklahoma on defense, but if we can put pressure on “Booger Eater”, he will get frustrated (as he did it that game). Our offense will more than likely run up and down the field.
Hogs 49
Mizzou 28
Mizzou 42-24… the last defeat of the Nutt era!
Hogs win 52-48. Hope we all get to see McFadden one last time in a Razorback jersey. Go Hogs Go! Spring practices can’t come soon enough.
ESPN over the weekend showed some of the best SEC games of the year and I watched some of the Arkansas/Auburn game, that was still dreadful to watch a second time, granted I don’t think Missouri’s defense is as good as Auburns, but Casey Dick doesn’t look like a college quarterback unless he has made serious leaps since the lat game we can’t out score them.
Mizzou 45
Arkansas 31
Hogs with No Nutts: 43
Tigers in Daniel’s Den: 31
Nuttless Hogs have something to prove. Coaches want to show they can do things Nutt wouldn’t let them do. Players want to show they can win without Nutts. They also want to impress the new coach. McFadden wants to show he should have won the Heisman. Jones wants to show he is 1st Round material NOW. Nuttless Hogs will be focused.
Hogs 41
Tigers 31
Our Hogs will knock the snot out of Chase. Reggie will be 1-0. DMac goes for 175 and strikes the Heisman pose on his second TD, Casey throws for 200 and 2 TD’s, one to Marcus Monk, one to Peyton Hillis. Felix takes a kickoff to the house.
Defenses are about equel. Offenses are opposite, but both are potent. I don’t believe we can stop thier aireal attack, but I also don’t believe they can stop our run either. Something tell’s me we’ll open it up just a little bit more. Just enough to egnite a very lethal running attack, with a very healthy Marcus Monk, and a very confident Casey Dick. (as of late) Hogs - 41, Tigers - 39. GO HOGS GO BABY!!!!!
As much as I hate to say it you all are way to optimistic coming into this game. All though we are a part of the “Big, Bad, SEC” we must take a step back and realize that this year hasn’t been nearly as dominant as years past for our conference. It’s been a down year for many conferences, hello Big 10, and that includes the SEC. Mizzou on the other hand is a formidable opponent, I don’t think they could’ve beat LSU, but they wouldn’t have had much trouble with the rest of our schedule; however, that doesn’t mean squat come Jan. 1. What I’m getting at is that this Missouri team is Darn good and we don’t have the Boomer Sooner defense to stop them. Chase Daniel will get at us like he’s digging for a booger on ABC, Mizzou will score 40+, no doubt, we’ll see if McFadden can drive to the end zone as well as he apparently drives a Caddy. GO HOGS GO, but Mizzou starts 2008 at 1-0, Tigers 52 HOGS 27.
“Nutts migrated south for the winter making for a winning season closer for the Hogs!” Part of this season was rough, but remember the Nutthouse was dragging his anchor and ego on the team. This team has gotten better over November and they are healthier. TV says watch out for special team players of Missouri, I say watch out for Felix Jones, and DMAC goes to the bighouse endzone at least 2-3 times on his own, and there are visits there from Felix and Peyton, but wait, there’s Monk there too and some others (Davis, Fish?) trying for it. Over 200 yards passing too with all the receivers! What a game, what a outstanding performance against a very good Missouri team. This game will showcase what we might have been able to do with out the Nuttcase holding us back. Congrats to all the Hogs and Reggie and his staff for a great game plan. Hogs 45, Missouri (1st 4 letters of their name) 38
Looking forward to the next several years!
What about McFadden’s other Cadillac? The new one his unemployed brother was driving that was stolen during the nightclub fight last year. In fact, there were conflicting reports on whose car it actually belonged to. I’m smelling smoke here.
I wish I had a caddy to drive on loan to Dallas. I bet Nutt knew all the NCAA sanctions that are about to hit UA and thats why he snuck out.
UA with out McFadden= Missouri 52, Arkansas 9
Roy, you are disrespecting Felix, Peyton and Michael!
Hogs in a runaway, run Hogs run!
Arkansas 41
Missouri 17
I have a good feeling about this game…
UA 34 - UM 28
Hogs - 45
Tigers - 42
DMAC goes out in style. Felix has a game to remember and Reggie gets carried off the field on the players shoulders. What a way to start the new year.
I agree totally useless hog, DMAC wants to show everyone why he should’ve won the Heisman. Teams haven’t played in a while though, and will start out slow. Hogs run away with a win.

Roy sounds like he must be from the land of “Booger Eaters”

With all the distractions, not to mention the Hogs’ recent lack of success in bowl games, I just don’t see it happening today for the Hogs. Oh, and by the way, Missouri is probably the better team as well. Expect our secondary to get lit up like New Year’s fireworks…

What a joke to think it is Nutt that was hold the Hogs back. Just take a look at the way our wondrous McFadden is running into brick wall after brick wall and the announcers are saying it is his desire to make the first physical contact. Well if your first physical contact is at the line of scrimmage you’re not going to be making all those touchdowns some of you have been predicting. Personally as a ‘61 graduate of the U of A and a solid Razorback fan for lo these many years, I have to say I’m ashamed today to be called a Razorback and I don’t blame Nutt for leaving, considering the criticism and back seat quarterbacking done by our LOYAL fans, I would have left not long after I started. Shame on you “Razorback Fans”, wake up and get behind your team and support your coaches. You remind me of the wonderful (not) Vikings and the mediocrity we encounter hear in the Twin Cities.
Prediction for score! Missouri 42, Razorbacks 10 at best.
So Sad. I’m So Sorry I was so close to correct. Do you have any idea how hard it is to root for a team year after year and have your friends and neighbors “up North” laugh at you. The one year I was really proud of my Razorbacks was the year Lou Holtz took them to the Orange Bowl without their star players because they had been caught being “Naughty” and left out of the lline up and had to stay home. They won that game without what was supposed to be their best and I could hold my head up and be so proud of a team and coach who did what was right and showed the country how it’s done. Pity that hasn’t carried over to the present.
38 to 7 is that bad, looks like the land of “booger eaters” embarrassed the over-rated McFAGGen and the hogs. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!
