Gonzo…since he didn't get his grades issue worked out before spring classes started, I'm guessing both parties decided to part ways.

Does anyone have more information on the situation with Terrence Joyner? I've been roaming around for more imfo, but the only news I have is that he's decommited from the Hogs, and now he's looking around again. There was a hang-up with the NCAA clearinghouse, and now Joyner is saying he has to change his plans. I looked up his status on Scout.com, and see that he now has New Mexico, Tenn., USC, Wyoming, and Arkansas as schools of interest, showing medium interest in those 4 other schools, while showing none for the Hogs. I've been trying to make since out of it for a couple of days now, but there's just not enough information. Has anyone heard anything else on this?

Aftet the last two years of showing in the NCAA tournament I feel the hogs will need to win 22-24 games to have enough quality wins to make it. That would mean they would have only 2 losses left. Don't be suprised if we arent NIT this year.

i have only seen this team play 3 or 4 games, but it is so painfully evident that they lack a floor general.

stan's inability to develope a point guard was made evident by the fact that his most "fluid" teams were those that ronnie brewer were a part of.

ronnie would shoulder the point man duties and he was a leader out there.

but with ronnie gone and no point guard present, you have what we have.

a collection of long and talented athletes that lack real basketball savy or skills.

they will have their moments and i will shout myself hoarse rooting for them.

Waldron, good point on the recruitment but the results seem to be the same. As HogBlogger pointed out, "these guys have an amazing ability to play beneath their potential". My point is that coaching hasn't been able to resolve this issue. As lot of folks have been bashing Stan for his coaching when it might have more do to with his recruitment abilities.

I won't cut Stan any slack. He recuited most of these players and we are lacking in a lot of areas. Coach Peplhrey is having to change the ways of to many players that should know better.

Also, the next time Stan recuits a PG and develops him will be the 1st time. No, he gets no slack from me.

turnovers, free throws, blocking out, and defensive lapses. plus, missing wide open people in the post several times in the first 10 minutes of the game.

missed 6 free throws in the last 5 minutes of the game. hill – 4, towns – 2.

we got absolutely killed at the guard position. without sonny weems on offense and the boards, we'd been blown out of the gym.

these guys have an amazing ability to play beneath their potential.

I agree with you on the disipline part Blind. This team will probably finish out the year about 2 or 3 games better than last year, only because Pelphrey will do what Stan Heath wouldn't do. (chew on thier @55) It kind of reminds me of a guard-dog that's been allowed to sleep in the house for 3 years, and then all of a sudden the owner dies. The dog gets a new owner and isn't allowed to sleep in the house anymore, because the new owner wants him to do what guard-dogs are supposed to do, stand guard. But every now and then, the old guard-dog tries to slide slide though the back door, when the new owner isn't looking, so he can take it easy one more time.

No discipline. It is too late for this bunch. Hopefully Pelphry can build some discipline into the next few classes. These guys are hopeless.

It is really sad to think what they could accomplish with this talent if they could play smart, as a team. I wish Pelphry would start benching some of these guys but I know he sees the talent and is hoping to capitalize. It ain't gunna happen.

He will get more out of them than Stan though. Can you image practice this week?

Did you see the look on Pelphrey's face when Weems threw that ill-conceived allie-oop to Hill late in the game. Once again, who is the go-to-guy on this team?

I wonder what Pelphrey was thinking by leaving Hill in at the end? The guy cannot shoot free throws. The ball spins sideways when he releases it. It always has. In four years, he couldn't have been taught how to release the ball with the proper spin? Amazing!!!

Final note: Where was the defense? All game long we would take a stab at a steal and then turn sideways and watch the offensive player drive the lane for a layup attempt. It was good for my oldest son to see that. I've been trying to get him to stop that when he is playing defense. He got an eye-full of it last night. So something good might come out of this game after all.

I'm starting to realize that this team just isn't going to get up for every game. Mentally, they are lazy. Plain and simple. Coach Pelphrey knew SC was going to come in hungary, but that message, obviously, does not come in loud and clear to some of these guys. You wouldn't think this is a team lead by 6 seniors. If this were a road game, it would have been a little more acceptable, but you don't win championships by losing at home. Something tells me it just isn't going to click for these guys.

I'm guessing that we can now officially cut Stan some slack. It doesn't appear like coaching is making much difference with these players. We seem to find new ways to lose easy home games. Pitiful! Shame on you guys!
