Bud Walton Arena Improvements Announced

Arkansas is spending approximately $3 million to upgrade Bud Walton Arena before basketball season.

Among the enhancements will be the addition of premium courtside seating, the replacing of retractable seats in the lower bowl and the addition of ribbon boards and LED screens throughout the arena.

    One of the most interesting things in the article is that they are replacing the classic ’slobbering’ Hog at centercourt with the updated official Hog that’s on the football helmets. I think it will look good but it will be sad to see the old one go – it’s the end of an era. Hopefully, they will make other court changes. I really wish the would splash some white and/or black to offset the red in the keys and baselines. The red by itself with the natural “straw” color of the wood looks very, very bland. Throw some white and black outlines in there or something.

    Long overdue and should help in re-developing the “big time” feel of BWA once again.

    Kudos to Jeff Long. I am really starting to like this guy. The “slobbering hog” was out of proportion, and in general, an eye sore. In two to three years, PEL will be hanging some more championship banners. Go Hogs!
