I’ve got to admit that this probably wasn’t the complete game but it was definitely a hard fought game that resulted in a victory. Great job, Razorbacks! Go Hogs!!!

We overcame our own mistakes and our defense was big all night, very proud of this team, I think we’ve got a chance to really build some momentum the rest of the way.

It sure feels good to finally win one. Hopefully, we can gain some confidence from this one. I want to beat Ole Miss and Nutt really bad in 2 weeks.

Can you say……. WHOOOOOOOOOO…… PIG, SOOIE!!!!!

Great game for these kids! I was hoping they would build off the Florida game, and it couldn’t have worked out any better. I just knew M. Smith woud break one sooner or latter. He deserve’s it. Very hard runner. Casey handed them a couple, but give him credit. There’s not many teams around that can beat the Tiger’s defense at home. I was impressed with our own defense as well. This team is getting better and better at stepping up to the challenge of the SEC. Petrino is starting to figure out his players. The future is brite. GO HOGS GO BABY!!!!!

I was so frustrated after the second half opening debacle and our statistical superiority everywhere but the scoreboard——-this is very, very satisfying!

I’ve noticed on some of the Auburn news articles ,they refer to us as “lowly Arkansas”. These guys are completely falling apart, but don’t realize that the Hogs are much improved over the past couple of games. They compare our two teams ballgames with LMU as evidence they have had a collapse in thier program. I don’t think they give the Hogs enough credit, as far as i’m concerned. knowone else has put up the kind of yardage on the Tigers like the Hogs have, and there’s a good chance knowone else will either. The Hogs have shot themselves down all year long. This time, they didn’t. The Defense is starting to come around now, even if the Tigers did help them out just a little. Our D-Line is starting to resemble what we thought it might be at the beginning of the season. Just think what our team is going to look like when we shape up our Special Teams play. GO HOGS GO BABY!!!!!

Its monday morning and it looks like it wasn’t just a dream. Wow! Here are all the random thoughts running through my head over the weekend.

Good for Kodi Burns and Lee Ziemba. I know that’s vindictive but damn it hurt when those kids left. Kodi could still come back home and play DB. This game shouldn’t have even been close. If we can work out some of those kinks then I think we can make some real progress this year. Some one mentioned the bullet we dodged not hiring Tubs but I also count us luck on not grabbing T. Bowden either.

Auburn fans better take a moment to appreciate the success they’ve had because I think the biggest issue is that they had the run of that recruiting base for years and now Saban has locked it up. I think it all heads downhill for them from here. We could have a similar situation with Oklahoma St. We go head to head for a lot of kids with them and now that they have Picken’s money and they’re starting to win it could get tough. I’ve always felt we had an edge on them.

    Player issues:
I wonder how long Ben Cleveland will stick around. He seems to have fallen off the radar with this staff. I’m shocked we can’t find a second back. Is Deanthony Curtis still ailing? Petrino was high on this kid and Coach P. doesn’t really blow smoke about things like that the way Nutt did.

Now its on to Kentucky who is a tough team. If we can pull one off there then we go from trying to when 3 or 4 games all year to being 4 and 3, in the hunt for a bowl and on a roll heading into the Nutt bowl. Our losses gain some perspective when you consider what Bama, Tx., and Fla. have done to the rest of the country.

Its great to see continued improvement! Go Hogs!

    Carolina,
I was thinking the exact same thing about Curtis. He’s been pretty much a no-show since the ‘Bama game. Has anyone else heard anything about him?

We finally got the breaks we had been needing. The Auburn QB situation worked out very well for us, better than anyone could have predicted, although they had to know starting an uncertain soph in the SEC was a gamble. Their defense was really banged up too.

We must fix the special teams and Casey has got to keep working on those reads but, our O-line has started to become the strength it was supposed to be and you can’t find a better place to start than that. Our defense will not see another offense that bad but, we are starting to make plays and build confidence.

This is the best we could have hoped for. I know we thought they might go 2-2 there but obviously if we had been twice as good we would not have. We are just where we hoped we would be. Now they have to improve every week. But, Michael Smith IS the man, they compete and play to win, and they are coming together as a team. The rollercoaster should be much more fun the rest of the year.

Tommy Bowden is out! As someone said here before “We dodged a bullet”. Its kind of interesting that Tubs and Bowden both used us to get extensions and both may be out within a year. It breaks my heart. The only coach that flirted with us that I was excited about was Grobe and I don’t think he used us for an extension. I think he just liked the life he had and I can respect that.

  15. Hog Fan 4 Life on October 13th, 2008 12:29 pm

I don’t agree with BlindHog, we didn’t get the breaks we needed, we found a way to win. That’s what we’ve been missing since the La-Monroe game; these guys dug deep and found a way to win despite the environment.

I’m most impressed with the offense - while the picks are issues, we were able to move the ball at will against a top SEC defense on the road. Folks, that’s impressive. I think the OLine has finally figured out how to pass-protect, our recievers are starting to make plays and not drop the ball, and Smith is a beast out of the backfield. Also, Petrino is starting to remind me of Urban Meyer and Les Miles - he’s not afraid to get creative at a pivotal point in the game. These plays truly catch defenses off guard and can demoralize a team. It’s hard to measure our defense since my son’s 7th grade offense is more effective than Auburns. But they did seem more agressive and our d-line made some great plays.

What is incredibly exciting is that you’re mostly looking at next year’s team….

  16. HogHead on October 15th, 2008 4:41 pm

It feels good to get a win. However, cut out the special teams problems and we win the game by three touchdowns. Great to win, but I’ll be glad when we fix the special teams issues and witness a complete football team.

    GO HOGS!!!!!
