[...] Well, for a while there, the Razorbacks were threatening to not get blown out. In the end, though, Florida handed them their third-straight lopsided defeat. [...]

No Tyler Wilson at all today. Strange……….
Is there any secondary worse at zone coverage than ours? They never break on the ball. Our lone interception was a horrible pass, the guy he was passing to would have scored if the throw was better. It is driving me a little loopy trying to reason through this one. I am already tired of the folksy defensive coordinator.
Reasonrules, I feel your pain, but we were better today, reguardless of the final score. I’m not saying we looked good, by any stretch of the emagination, but this was definately a game our young players can build from Sure, the lone interception we got from Franklin was a bad throw, but give the front 4 a little credit. The pressure is still not as consistant as it need’s to be, but I seen Tebow take a couple of pretty good licks today. That will get into almost any QB’s head. I don’t care who it is. That is a big improvement over the Texas game folks. How many times did we get a hat on McCoy? That’s right, zip! I was really impressed with how hard Micheal Smith runs. He doesn’t back down from anybody. We’ve seen glimpses of it this year, but playing from behind has limited his carries. The one thing I can pinpoint in this game that really need’s to change, is Casey still hold’s on to the ball to long sometimes. He still need’s to get better at making quiker decisions, while not forcing throws into coverage. If he can continue to get better at that, he might just negate some of the sacks he take’s, and we may be able to sustain a drive. I thought Joe Adams looked like a player today, and Dennis Johnson look’s pretty consistant as a KR man. Beside’s Casey still being less than consistant, two other plays stick out in my mind as difference makers. Greg Childs dropped a near perfect pass from Casey, on 3rd down, to kill one drive, and Micheal Smith dropping the punt that was recovered by the Gators. If we erase those two plays, it might have gotten interesting. Keep on playing guys! GO HOGS GO!!!!!
I agree with Gonzo. The game could have been much close than it was if a couple of things had been different. They guys looked much better than they have in the last two game. And…Casey does need to get rid of the ball quicker. Go Hogs!
Arkansas is now ranked #97 nationally…
…objectively-speaking, that is.

Good luck next week!
With Smith running as well as he was, why didn’t we use any play action to slow down the Florida rush? Why is Smith returning punts? Is he really our best option, what about Adams or Curtis. This defense just looks slow. Our secondary got ran past several times and the players looked like they weren’t even trying to find the ball. Also, our tackling is pathetic. I didn’t see one attempt to strip the ball yesterday. This defense really needs a fire lit under their butts. I agree with a previous comment, this def. coordinator is already getting old. All that said, I was overall pretty happy with our paly and with some improvement, we can beat Auburn next week. The teams we have been blown out by have had exceptional offenses. Auburn does not. GO HOGS!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of points for the defensive coordinator: 1) defensive is getting better; 2) personal opinion is that defensive takes longer to get put into place.
As an aside to defensive coordinator comments, just remember that he was also the last to be put into place so I’d expect that he had zero input into any of the other coaches so he was dealt a hand that he is still working on.
I’m willing to give the defensive coordinator a break for some a while.
I tend to disagree that the defense is harder to put together. I have seen several coordinators over the last thirty years come in and put a decent group on the field. I do believe that teams are running more and I don’t understand why our guys in a zone won’t make a break on the ball. We got a lot of help from Florida blowing assignments and getting penalties and still got lit up for 31 (not counting fumbled punt). Florida was very cautious and ran to make sure they controlled the clock and got a win. They were not being aggressive. Just a personal opinion, but this is not an SEC calibre defensive coordinator. If the move doesn’t happen at the end of the year, I will be surprised.
Obviously, Willy wasn’t Bobby’s first choice. But my point on the defense being harder, offensive always has an advantage… defensive has to react or guess at what the offensive is going to do. As such, all things considered, defensive by it’s reactive nature is harder. Another way to look at this is, assuming you have equally qualified coaches (i.e. offensive vs. defensive coordinators), who would win the battle in the long run - my money is on the offensive coordinator coming away with the advantage.
I just disagree with you on the defense. I could make the complete argument in the opposite. Offense calls a play, defense stunts, fake blitz, etc and ultimately the offense audibles against what the defense does. They are taking a guess.
It is easier to teach defensive skills than offense. I’ll give you Har Ber High for example, if you don’t commit to football year round you don’t play on the Offense because of all the 7 on 7 tournaments and year round work. You can play baseball and be a gifted athlete, but you won’t play quarterback, running back or wide receiver. It is harder to teach those skill positions.
