Game Predictions — Auburn

October 9, 2008 by TipsterHog

Congratulations to OwassoHog Jr for the closest prediction last week of 38-10.  His quote: “Still not ready for prime time.”  Later on we found out that OwassoHog Jr was “a Gator fan, too.”  Man…didn’t OwassoHog raise you right, boy?  Oh well…I’m sure you’ll wear your RBN t-shirt from Carpenter Clothing Co. with pride.  That is…after the Hogs finally win a game again.

So here we go:

Auburn TigersWalking on Sunshine: At times, the Auburn offense has looked as inept as the Hogs’ defense.  But there’s no doubt that the Tigers’ defense is the real deal.  The road gets easier after this one.  Auburn 23, Arkansas 7.

HogBaller: Auburn has scrapped the spread and fired their OC…and the Hogs have a chance to cash in on the chaos.  But they have to eliminate mistakes and create some turnovers from the Auburn offense.  The Hogs pull out a close one and start putting the pieces together.  Arkansas 28, Auburn 17.

HogBlogger: Auburn goes back to smash mouth football this week and the Arkansas defense can’t stand up to the ground assault.  Auburn 24, Arkansas 14.

TipsterHog: It’s funny how Tommy Tuberville looked like a great coach when Al Borges and Will Muschamp were his coordinators, huh?  They’re both gone but Muschamp’s old defense is still good enough to beat us almost single-handedly.  Auburn 14, Arkansas 3.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “At least we fired Jack Crowe on a Sunday” or “No ‘rolling the corner‘ on this day.  Hogs roll.”

I don’t see our offense doing much against that D which will wear out our Defense. In spite of recent developments, Auburn is still really good and we still aren’t there yet. Hogballer, I hope to God you are right about this one. It would get real exciting with these young players if we could pickup a big win.

strength against (relative strength)… weakness against weakness. bottom line: their strength is better than our strength and our weakness is weaker than theirs. auburn still wins.

You think Petrino might want this game more than any he’s coached in a while. THIS game has meaning to HIM. He understands the fire to win BEFORE the game is played. Our coach puts us in the position to win, and the players respond. Hogs win in what ESPN will downplay to reasons caused by Auburn’s own soap opera. Go Hogs Go!!!

    Razorbacks–17
    Tigers–16

Despite Auburn firing their OC… sheesh, I hope I am wrong.

Turmoil in Tiger land results in a Hog win.

Huge breakout game for the Tiger offense, their defense manhandles Michael Smith. Turnovers make the difference. Arkansas 24-21.

    Auburn 17

Even Auburn’s mediocre offense is enough to beat us, especially IN Auburn.

Things finally start to work for Head Coach Bobby Petrino…. I am so glad Tommy T didn’t come our way…

No one expected us to open up a can in ‘06 either. Hogs win a close one.

    HOGS: 13
    Tigers: 12

Auburn has speed to the corners and a stout line that loves to run the ball. We won’t have many possessions and again, Dick’s inability to make the quick read makes it a wasted 35 bucks for my son to watch on Pay Per View.

    Auburn 28
    Hogs 17

  18. Guinness Snout on October 9th, 2008 6:43 pm

Better showing, but not quite there yet. Dick gets rattled after he’s been knocked around. Auburn will knock him around.

    Auburn 21
    Hogs 9 (TD + Safety)

Sometimes, a change can galvanize a team, especially when they are struggling/underachieving, particularly in the short term. Offensive Coordinator change helps Auburn while the Hogs can’t seem to find the end-zone despite looking better vs. Florida.
    Auburn 28
    Hogs 10

  20. big d on October 9th, 2008 8:55 pm

Auburn couldn’t score before, and firing your OC 2 days before a game doesn’t help you. This one is low scoring:

    Hogs 6
    Auburn 3

  21. Smedlap on October 9th, 2008 9:37 pm

    Plains Vanilla: 31
    Lost Hogs: 6

Unfortunately, the boys from the plains use basic , vanilla running plays to pound the lost Hogs into submission. Hogs move ball all day long, but their 173 pound wrecking ball tailback can’t crack the goal line against monster Auburn defense.

  22. Waldron Hog on October 10th, 2008 9:05 am

    Hogs: 7
    Tigers/War Eagles/whatever: 28

Arkansas offense scores 1 TD for us and 1 TD for them. Auburn offense gets well with their change and our defense.

  23. GonzoHog on October 10th, 2008 10:23 am

Auburn’s offensive players are probably even less efficient in the spread than the Hogs are in thier own very complex offense. I wonder if ‘ol Tommy watched the Florida game, in which Petrino scaled back just a little, and had better sucsess with the RB (Smith) getting more touches. Codi Burns has been just as inefficient as Casey has, throwing the ball down field. (past 20 yards) Probably worse. He has the arm strength, but no accuracy. I bet we see him on the run this week, more than usual. Defense at home should be enough for the Tigers in this one. If we don’t give them points on turnovers, like we did ‘Bama, then i’m saying Tigers 21 - Hogs 13.

  24. GonzoHog on October 10th, 2008 10:29 am

The 4th poster gary already predicted my score, so i’m changing my prediction to Tigers 20 - Hogs 13.

  25. MexiHog on October 10th, 2008 11:52 am

Everyone’s predicting more than 1 touchdowns combined, I say hogs pull of the upset in much the same way Auburn did it last year.

Hogs 10 in a last minute TD
    Auburn 9

  26. LA Hog on October 10th, 2008 1:40 pm

Auburn’s defense is tough and given our offensive struggle I’d said Tigers 17 Hogs 7

  27. HogChase on October 10th, 2008 1:52 pm

    So close….

    Hogs: 14
    Auburn: 17

Auburn’s defense proves to be too much for the Razorbacks.

    Ark - 10
    Aub - 21
