Game Predictions — Florida

October 2, 2008 by TipsterHog

Congratulations to AggieKritter for the closest prediction last week of 52-13.  Her quote: “It’s gonna be UGGG-ly.”  That it was, Kritter.  A big ’shout out’ for the impressively close score prediction.  Your RBN t-shirt from Carpenter Clothing Co. is on its way via special delivery.

By the way, we’ve added a new contest rule this week.  All predictions must have an opponent score of at least 40 points for the rest of the season.  All other predictions will be discarded.

Uh…okay…just kidding.

So here we go:

Florida GatorsWalking on Sunshine: The Gators roll in good and mad after their loss last week.  The Hogs have nothing to hang their hat on (yet) as the defense can’t get off the field.  Florida’s pass rushers are definitely licking their chops to go against an offense ranked last nationally in sacks allowed.  Recipe for (another) disaster.  Florida 48, Arkansas 14.

HogBaller: If the Hogs have any hope of doing something this season, it’s got to start against Florida.  The Gators will come out mad, but so should the Razorbacks.  Do the Hogs have it in them to make it a game?  The Hogs are young and short of talent, but I think they’ll show they are still ‘holding on to the rope.’  Florida 28, Arkansas 24.

HogBlogger: Florida will show up in a bad mood and wanting to make up for last week. The slow starting — if starting at all — Hogs will be out-matched from the coin toss.  Florida 42, Arkansas 10.

TipsterHog: In case you can’t tell from the first three predictions, we generally believe Florida is going to be kinda mad this Saturday.  And I hear angry Gators bite even harder.  Florida 55, Arkansas 7.

Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick.  And feel free to add your own take like “Damn Houston Dale” or “Tebow apologizes for losing…again.  Hogs roll.”

    Gators 51
    Piglets 10

DIcks confidence is gone. The defense can’t play dead and the players hate Coach P (that comes from a hight school coach who has 4 freshmen playing with the hogs)
    Florida 60
    Hogs 7

  5. Mike in Magnolia on October 2nd, 2008 8:26 am

And I am not a Nutt lover. I hope Coach P can turn it around. I am all for him.

  6. Ward_Hog on October 2nd, 2008 8:27 am

    Hogs–21
    Gators–44

If a Nutt offense can score on Florida, we should be at least get 21. I hope more. Even though Ole Miss seems to have a little more in the cupboard, Hogs won’t hang their hand and allow another blowout like last week. Go Hogs Go!!!

  7. BlindHog on October 2nd, 2008 8:33 am

Petrino is no Houston Nutt, Thank God. The players didn’t think much of Holtz either. Bobby will do fine with his own players. These guys will adjust. It will all be more fun once they start scoring and winning.

Casey Dick - 3 interceptions, sacked 6 times

Yes, yes, Florida is pissed. That’s obvious. The biggest thing they will want to prove is that at the end of the year, they are better than Alabama and Texas, and the easiest comparison there is common opponents, namely us. With Bama putting up 49 and Texas putting up 52, Florida wants to put up 60, but I think they fall short.

    plus, Tebow > McCoy

    Florida 59
    Swine 17

A razorback is walking through the forest when he sees a monkey sitting in a tree……….the monkey says i bet i can make it rain and thunder…………the razorback says, “how”………….so the monkey starts to…………(well you can imagine the rest……….that’s how it feels right now as a fan……….) I still think we can put it all together for at least one game……….not sure if this is the one!!!!

Guys with talent and a son of a missionary as well: 63
Guys with not much talent: 18

    The never-ending season continues . . . .

  17. GonzoHog on October 2nd, 2008 11:18 am

I think it only get’s harder for the D-Line with Mitchell out. Another Freshman step’s up to the plate, so Tebow should be able to run at will. Another terrible day for the D. Gators 49 - Hogs 20

  18. Hog Fan 4 Life on October 2nd, 2008 11:23 am

No way hogs get blown out again. I’m betting Petrino puts in some RB or WR screen plays this week to keep Casey off his back, which will set up our running game or the long ball. Defense not so bad cause our offense keeps them off the field to a reasonable time of possession.

    Hogs 42
    Gators 28

  19. ReasonRules on October 2nd, 2008 11:24 am

    Defense gets better.
Offense finally figures out Casey can’t read at an appropriate grade level.

35-10 Gators get back their swagger.

  20. dallashog on October 2nd, 2008 1:21 pm

i think it was john paul sartre who once said…

    how do you spell sartre?

    gators - 47
    hogs - 12

it’s great to be a florida gator, indeed.

Oh No is it time for another game. I don’t know if we can duplicate what Nutt did, but here is hoping we put up a fight Gators 45 Razorbacks 21.

What is the weather gonna do-
    It doesn’t matter-

    Hogs lose- 49-9

  29. Nevrgivzup on October 2nd, 2008 11:57 pm

As hard as the gators try, they can’t help looking past the Hogs. Michael Smith, Michael Smith, Michael Smith - the same way Oregon State beat USC. But we also need the ball to bounce our way for a change.

I love Urban Meyer but Arkansas is where it’s at. What I really hope for is that BYU or Utah gets into a Bowl Game and dominates, making a statement for the MWC.

  35. Code Red on October 3rd, 2008 11:55 am

Everyone wakes up extra early on saturday & the home team crowd becomes a factor…This provides BP’s offense just the spark it needs to get over the hump & our defense plays with a mean streak, sacking Tebow early & often. As this young/talented football team bands together like brothers & PROTECTS their HOUSE!

Well I have hit around the numbers the last two weeks so why not try again. I think I will side with a little Optimism since there doesnt seem to be much here.
Make no mistake Florida wins but lets hope its a bit closer than we think.
    Gators 27
    Hogs 21
Just cant help but think it may be closer than some think. Florida is no Texas!!!
IF YOUR GONNA DREAM - DREAM BIG!!!!

  37. Carolina Hog on October 3rd, 2008 3:56 pm

Okie, I think Florida is better than Tx. Blind, one day you guys may have to wake up and realize that while Nutt may have compromised his effectiveness in Fayetteville, he is not a bad coach, and Mike in Magnolia, How about not spreading rumors about our Coach that could serve to hurt recruiting. We’ve have 4 games under this regime. Could we at least wait to the end of the season to prove that no matter who the coach is that we are still the same psycho ass fan base that we’ve always been? What do you say?
I can’t predict because I don’t think this will be pretty.

  38. T-towner on October 3rd, 2008 4:12 pm

I hated all the best coaches I had, but they had my respect along with my fear. Anyone out there remember Wilson Matthews? Petrino is a great coach and a great recruiter. The less we rehash Nutt, the better. If you look at what he did at Arkansas his first year, that was not so bad and it is no surprise to me that he has Ole Miss all jacked up even though WF and Vandy beat them.

  41. OwassoHog on October 4th, 2008 9:30 pm

Ok, full disclosure time… (now that the game is over). My son (OwassoHog Jr) is a Gator fan too. So, I offered him the chance to pick today’s game score in lieu of my prediction. He predicted the 38-10 score (he was upset when we had the field goal blocked which prevented him from a perfect prediction)… I would have predicted a score of 48-24 for Florida. :-(

BTW - he says that he wears a medium size t-shirt!!!
