Game Predictions — Kentucky
October 16, 2008 by TipsterHog
Congratulations to regular commenter BlindHog for the closest prediction last week of 24-21. His quote: “Huge breakout game for the Tiger offense…their defense manhandles Michael Smith. Turnovers make the difference.” Uh…well…turnovers certainly did make the difference!
BlindHog now has a closet full of RBN t-shirts from Carpenter Clothing, Co. after winning his third prediction contest in the last two seasons. And that includes predicting last year’s Auburn game, as well. It just goes to show that reading this site regularly helps increase your psychic powers!
As for the competition amongst the RazorBloggers, kudos to Mr. Positivity (a.k.a. HogBaller) for being the only one of us brave enough to predict the Hogs’ upset win over Auburn. Of course, HogBaller also predicted a Texas and an Alabama upset, too. At the halfway point, it’s TipsterHog 3; Sunshine, HogBlogger, and HogBaller all tied at 1.
So here we go:
Walking on Sunshine: Hogs match up nicely with Kentucky this week as the Wildcats offense is probably worse than Auburn. Last week’s win was the confidence boost this young team needed. Hogs fly…Ashley Judd cries. Arkansas 24, Kentucky 20.
HogBaller: This Razorback team is finding their way and are close to turning the corner. Kentucky worries enough about stopping Michael Smith that it opens up the passing game. The Hogs win a close one and show that they are ready to make a run at the remainder of the schedule. Arkansas 31, Kentucky 21.
HogBlogger: Now that the Hogs have tasted success, they will be even more hungry. Arkansas 28, Kentucky 17.
TipsterHog: Another SEC Saturday…another opponent with a strong defense and a less than stellar offense. Will the outcome be the same? Unfortunately…no. Hogs lose in a bluegrass heartbreaker. Kentucky 17, Arkansas 14.
Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick. And feel free to add your own take like “Rich Brooks wears Billy Gillispie pajamas” or “This time in Lexington…we don’t need seven overtimes. Hogs roll.”

Petrino realizes, holy shit, we have a chance at a bowl (albeit, on December 15th or so), but uses this to motivate the troops. Unleashing the very persistent Michael Smith, the Andre Woodson-version of Casey Dick (you know, as opposed to the Casey Dick version), and the up-and-coming Joe Adams making one spectacular play after another, Kentucky hasn’t seen an Arkansas team with this much potential in all phases of the offense (you know, as opposed to immense potential in only a single phase).
Hogs win! Hogs win!

All that offense we have been putting up finally translates into points. Come Sunday I will say I am so proud of our PIGS
I should have said, “Michael Smith manhandles Auburn Defense”, what a performance! This week:
This is the one we’ve been waiting for. The Breakout Game.
Arkansas 31-17
Hogs win! 38-13 with a complete game! We romp early and often!
Hogs: 17
Kentucky: 24
While last week was great and I can see improvement, there are still issues and they will bite us this week. This is a trap game between a big win and next week against Hootie. We won’t have enough emotional play to overcome our issues of kicking game woes and the couple of plays our QB messes up.
Not sure we’re there yet and I’m tired of being shut out of the shirts so I’ll go with
Kentucky 14
Arkansas 10
I think we could have turned a corner and I could be quite wrong but one game isn’t enough to tell. 4 and 3 at this point would be amazing.
I’m pretty sure Micheal Smith has the Wildcat’s attention this week, but keying on him will be a big mistake that Petrino will take atvantage of.

After scoring in the redzone and winning, the Arkansas offense finally realize that getting into the endzone is nearly as easy as getting to the 30 yard line and finally put up Petrinoesque numbers, but the inconsistency in special teams and defense (mainly special teams) makes the score look way closer than what the game will actually be.
Arkansas 41
Kentucky 33
The passing game will improve, but to ask the running game to be better than last week is expecting too much. We still score points though..

We do not give up one play over 25 yards-
Hogs win big- 39-13
My presence at the game will ensure victory for the Hogs, despite the fact that my wife is a UK grad!!!

I’m seeing unbridled optimism and it kind of scares me. I do know, however, that we are at the part of the schedule where the games are all winnable.

Leave the negativity at home Tipster. We are on a roll! No bus driver in this game as we run Hog Wild (instead of Wild Hog) all over the Cats.

It’ll be one of those fourth quarter-come from behind things that we’ve been so good at.
Defense realizes they aren’t playing the tough Kentucky Basketball defense and decide to show their coming out party. Adding to the continuing improvement and the players are finally seeing it’s not tough when you do it on a consistent basis.
Hogs - 31
Kentucky - 17
This isn’t a prediction, but if you guys remember, ‘Bama only beat Kentucky by 3 points in Tuscaloosa.
KU’s DBs are the real deal too, so if Casey doesn’t take care of the football, and our offense isn’t as balansed as it was last week running the ball, we could be in for a long afternoon.
Not trying to be a spoil-sport or anything, but we haven’t exactly turned the corner yet guys. Were only half way around it.
GO HOGS GO!!!!!
WARNINIG: Knee jerk approaching

Petrino has made Kentucky look silly his entire career.
Razorbacks 35

We get!!! We finally get it!!!
Maybe we are all getting a bit excited about the ability of these Hogs to put a whole game together. I’m optimistic as well, but Gonzo is right. We are still in the corner . . . hopefully accelerating safely.
Arkansas keeps it going with a big win over Kentucky.
Arkansas - 24
Kentucky - 10
Gonzo and Hogblogger, can you say buzz kill? haha Go Hogs Go!!!!
27-17 Hogs
The corner has been turned.
It sucks getting in late. All the good scores are taken already. I’ll go out on a limb.
HOGS: 45

I not quite ready to jump on the bandwagon yet. Hogs beat a very average AU team last week that also had many distractions that kept their focus off the Hogs. Our special teams have shown no improvement and will continue to keep us from becoming a good team until they get it in gear.
Hope I’m wrong…
