CBSSports.com BlogPoll Ballot — Week 12
November 17, 2008 by Walking on Sunshine
We have resisted moving Florida to the top spot since they have one loss…but no more. After completely embarrassing a top-ranked defense in South Carolina (56-6), there is little doubt (at least, in our mind) who has the best overall team. The Alabama sputtering offense sees them losing ground.
You can see the complete BlogPoll over at CBS Sports.com.

-I like where you have OSU and Mizzou.
-Georgia almost lost to Kentucky and Auburn. There’s no way they’re a top 10 team.
-I like Florida over Bama. Vegas may be giving OU 7 over TTU, but I bet they give Florida 10 over Bama. The announcers in the Bama-MSU game said there were 10 drops out of 47 passes thrown, while the announcers in the OSU-Colorado game were amazed that there had been 5 in that game out of 61 passes. So I agree with you that Bama sputtering because of good Ds, they’re sputtering because their O is crap.
-Ball State shouldn’t be ranked. They haven’t even played the 2 best teams in their conference yet, and they’ve only played 1 team with a winning record so far (6-4 Navy). 1! I’ll give you props if you can tell me they would beat TCU, or even Miami, with a straight face.
-Speaking of TCU, how on Earth do you have them ranked behind BYU!!? That’s as egregious as last week when the Coaches put OU over UT and Mizzou over OSU.
I’m glad that Western Michigan is under consideration for a top 25 spot. Besides the Texas Tech vs Oklahoma game the next best game may be Ball State and Central Michigan. If Ball State wins it will set up next weeks show down between Western Michigan and Ball State.
I know very few really care about the MAC but being a Kalamazoo native (moved to Ark, in 78″) I am still a Western Michigan Bronco fan.
If you are going to jump Tech over Bama, which is fine, I would bring Texas as well. I know they have one loss too , by 2 seconds and a failure to push the reciever out of bounds. Tech gets the push, they won the game, but Texas beat OU handily. I would have them 2 and 2A and, I hate Texas.
BLINDHOG;
There were several seconds left on the clock when Crabtree was at the sideline. It Crabtree had went out of bounds there was time enough to kick a field goal from closer than extra point distance. I think it was excellent clock management by Tech. I don’t disagree with you on jumping Texas over ‘Bama. I have not been impressed with “Bama’s offense, although they came on late against a tired MSU defense. Unless my eyes have been deceiving me about Florida, it’s possible that ‘Bama and Texas could meet in a BCS bowl. I think a lot of things are settled by bowl games, except the Misszou game which proved that Herring wasn’t the defensive genius he was hyped up to be. Where is Herring now? Not with HDN? Which says sonething.
Let’s just cut to the chase; Florida will win the NC. If they don’t, it’ll probably mean they beat themselves.
Name 1 team who is playing as well as the Gators right now, offensively, defensively, and Special Teams play.
Who else has 4 world class sprinters on the starting offense, and also is led at QB by the guy who was the first Soph. to win the Hiesman? Who’s playing more focused than the Gators right now?
These guys are almost as fast on defense as they are on offense. ‘Bama, TT, OU, or Texas, doesn’t have the overall speed on D that the Gators have, and from what i’ve witnessed recently, don’t play with thier kind of aggression.
There’s only 1 team who comes close to matching Florida’s athleticism on defense; The USC Trojans.
Isn’t it ironic that these are the only 2 teams, with loses to unranked teams, that are in contention to play for the NC?
The Trojans are basically screwed by playing in a mediocra conference, while the Gators are sitting pretty in the nationally recognized SEC.
I’ll be suprised if they don’t win it all.
