Before the season, SEC coaches picked the Diamond Hogs to finish fourth in the Western Division. And barring some unlikely happenings this week, that’s exactly where they will be.
There will be no regular season championship for this Razorback baseball team, ranked in the top 15 for much of the season. Now three and half games back of LSU with three conference games to go, the Hogs were mathematically eliminated with this past weekend’s sweep by Alabama.
One could argue that they were out of the Western Division race before then, after losing two of three at home to LSU last weekend made their chances a long shot at best.
It’s certainly a very disappointing end after going 8-1 to start the conference season. Three of those wins were part of an exciting home sweep over Florida. But the other five were against subpar Auburn and Mississippi State teams. Looking back now, the fast start doesn’t seem so impressive.
The Hogs strong non-conference record should still earn them a lot of respect. Whether they have enough of a résumé to host a NCAA regional later this month, however, is the only “race” this team is still in.

Not much of a year for the Hogs on any front. I would say we should be hungry but hungry hardly covers it.
Is it time to bring back Frank? get us back to mediocre?
This is a great baseball league. It's disappointing we couldn't have been a little more consistant down the stretch, but with Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and the Hogs, all very capable of getting hot and making a run at Omaha, it's just an honor to even be a part of the very best conference in the country, the SEC.
GO HOGS GO!!!!!
I would say we are where Frank put us.
Baseball we finish 4th and in the top 20 and maybe get a regional. Good year.
Football, painful but on the upswing. Talent is being replenished. I am excited about this Fall.
Basketball, pretty much sucked since Nolan left. Old UA President hired Stan instead of Self cause he knew he was going to get sued
