Heading Southwest

The RazorBloggers are going to BIG ‘D’!!!

Sunshine and I will be leaving on Thursday and we’re both really excited to be taking a little break away from our ‘real jobs’ to go watch the Hogs play their first game in the new Cowboys Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys StadiumMuch has been made of ‘Jerry World‘ and I’m sure we’ll be impressed.  With its ‘Bigger In Texas’ size, but still with some of the creature comforts of home (HD!), it certainly should make for an awesome game day experience.

Or will it?

In researching our trip, I was surprised to learn about a number of early issues that have plagued the stadium since it opened its giant glass doors in June.

As you might expect, high vehicle traffic volume and construction work on the roads leading into the stadium have caused frustrations.  And once inside the colossal venue, poor stadium acoustics have disappointed both concertgoers and football fans alike.

The biggest surprise, however, was finding out that there’s no scoreboard in the entire stadium.  Sure…everyone knows about the ginormous video board hanging over the field.  But because that board wasn’t showing game information during the Oklahoma-BYU game earlier this month, some fans resorted to contacting friends who were watching at home just to find out how much time was left in the game!

The good news is that the Cowboys have hosted two regular season home games since then and, hopefully, some of these kinks have been ironed out.  No matter…we’re sure to have an exciting and memorable first experience when the Hogs and the Aggies kick it off on Saturday night.

Nope…you won’t hear us complaining.  Unless, that is, we think the concessions are too pricey.  Uh oh…

Make sure and follow @RazorBloggers on Twitter, as we’ll but posting updates all throughout our road trip to the inaugural Southwest Classic.

    Thanks for the links.

I gotta say, Architecturally, it's disappointing. I'm not surprised that they screwed up the acoustics.

When you think of modern stadia like the 'Birds Nest' in Bejing, it would have been nice to see something a little sleaker, more modern. It's kind of massive techno keek. The oversized non-scoreboard video sums it up perfectly; big ideas with no place to go. But, we have to love Jerry and take him in anyway, he's razorback family.

good luck hogs but I don't see a win for the Hogs but a long day just hope the aggies don't beat them too bad.We had a good coach and look what we got so I guess we got to make the best of it.

Hey George, Lou Holtz has been gone for a LONG time. Give it up man!

      • GolfHog says:

George is going to get his sooner rather than later. I thought Hooty would have to recruit a couple of more years to get them back to 7-5 but it looks like the QB killer has already got Ole Miss headed downhill. I can't wait to see Vandy this weekend.

On the other end, George has missed this game as well. I can't wait for the predictions. Arkansas is going to roll this weekend.

??? Which coach would that be? You can't be talking about H. Nutt. The coach who forgot to put his best player on the field for a critical 3rd down, only to follow that with a 4th down too many men penalty after a time out?!?!?! Cause if that who you're talking about I'll "make the best of it" with Coach Petrino anytime!!

Cockroaches, cockroaches everywhere. I don't care if Petrino loses every game, I am still glad to have him. Now, if he really does lose to Eastern Michigan, I might get a perturbed.
