Game Predictions — Mississippi State

Congratulations to Little R for the closest prediction last week of 56-21. Her quote: “Even though TipsterHog laughed at my pick, I’m sticking with it.” Yes…it’s true…I laughed at Little R’s pick. Told her she was crazy and that the Hogs wouldn’t score more than 50 against the Trojans.
But wait…it gets worse. You see…Little R is my boss at work. And it just so happens to be time for my annual performance review! Yeah…uh oh. Time to start groveling. Great pick, Little R!
The good news is that yours truly now has a commanding lead (TipsterHog 5, Sunshine 2.5, HogBaller 2, HogBlogger 0.5) in our predictions contest between the RazorBloggers. And I’ll have plenty of time to appreciate that, I’m sure…when I’m living in a van down by the river.
If anyone needs a quick refresher on how we judge the winner of our little weekly contest, you can check the rules here. So here we go:
Walking on Sunshine: Dan Mullen is a good coach, and has State playing well in his first season. The Bulldogs will be bowl eligible…but not this season. Running back Anthony Dixon (120.2 yards/game) will get his. But as hot as Ryan Mallett is right now, nobody is going to stop him. Nobody. Arkansas 42, Mississippi State 27.
HogBaller: The Razorbacks shut down the MSU running game and improve their bowl destination. No trip to Shreveport for these Hogs. Arkansas 38, Mississippi State 15.
HogBlogger: Hogs have a chance to improve their bowl position. Can’t afford a letdown. Arkansas 31, Mississippi State 17.
TipsterHog: The Dogs lick their wounds from the ‘Bama game last week…and look ahead to revenge against the Rebels next week. Arkansas 38, Mississippi State 24.
Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick. And feel free to add your own take like “What happens when you cross a Bulldog with a Shih Tzu?” or “Dan Mullen uses the word “exciting” 18 times…when describing the Razorback offense after the game. Hogs roll.”

Hogs run wild with a 58-24 win in the Rock!
Hogs 45-21. Defense continues its progress, Michael Smith rushes for over 100 in his final home game, and DJohnson takes one to the house(I predict this every week so I’ll look smart when he does it)
The Hogs are on a roll now….no time for a let-down here…please don’t take the Bulldogs for granted

P.S. Way to stick it to Tipster, Little R!!!
Thanks, Tipster, for the props and the winner t-shirt! I sense a good performance review on the way
Although, now I have to deal with T-Towner since he thinks I robbed him of RBN t-shirt glory by one-dollaring his score

We roll. Arkansas 45-17
Packed War Memorial calling the Hogs!
Defense is on. Offense never lets up.
Hogs 42
Dogs 9
MSU(i.e. Dixon)running game keeps it close for a while. Hogs finish strong.
Pigs – 39
not enough cow bell – 23
Hogs looking too much ahead (but not TOO much! ;^) Defense still puts clamps on one-dimensional Dawgs and offense does what it does best: score.
31-16 Hogs
This is my week to one-dollar Little R.
Razorbacks 38
Ding-dongless Bulldogs 14
What’s all this one dollar stuff? Exactly where do you guys work?
Ha…ever watched “The Price is Right” game show? It’s where one contestant beats another by bidding one dollar above or below the other person’s bid.
I know Little R. Little R is a friend of mine. I know you know as well, T-Towner, there is no $1 to Little R!
TipsterHog, must be a pretty bold guess to under bid by $1 in “The Price is Right” cause it doesn’t leave you much wiggle room! For the record, it’s just the $1 above the other person’s bid. You are trying not to over bid with getting to the closest amount of the actual value of the item. Under bidding by $1 wouldn’t be very wise.
A slight scare….

Wow- Who beat the dawgs up..Ryan Ryan Ryan
STANZ
Two worst defenses in the SEC.
Hogs 35
MSU 24
Lots of running with a few big plays mixed in.
Ryan Mallett continues to dominate. I expect another good 300+ passing performance. I think we also mix a decent 150-200 rushing yard in there as well. Arkansas wins, 48-24.
Electric atmosphere in the old stadium Sat. night (ahh, i remember them well and wish I could be there once again).
Hoggies 39
Doggies 27
Sorry, Hog ‘n Iowa, but the kickoff is at 11:21 AM, so the old WMS nightime atmosphere will be missing. We did good on the early kickoffs in Fayetteville against Auburn and USC-East, but not so good against Ole Miss down there.
Hogs 38

Odds on another frustrating 3rd quarter?
The hogs stuff Mississippi in the best defensive game this season. Mallet and Co keep doing their thing, and score in bunches.
Hogs 45
Miss State 6
A good showing for the Hogs in preparation for their upset of a 2 loss LSU team in Baton Rouge.
Ark: 31
MSU: 10
Mallett is straight up KILLING it right now…and MS State needs a win to become bowl eligible.
I think this might be closer than we’d like, but still:

MSU 31

this ones alot closer than we think
GolfHog stole my prediction, so i’ll go with Hogs-45, Dogs-21.
Hogs 37
BowlDogs 10
Revenge for Homeboy’s night in “The Starkville City Jail”
Pigs 42
Pugs 17
Bullies are pesky, and it takes a couple of late TD’s to put them away for good.
Hogs 44
Dawgs 27
Hogs haven’t scored fewer than 33 at home. The defense hasn’t had too much trouble stopping teams that can’t pass. Should be a recipe for a comfortable win.
Hogs 38
Dogs 19
Hogs roll – 42 to 21!
Go Hogs Go!
For some reason I don’t see us scoring over 40 in this one, but I don’t see Miss State scoring over 30.

Bulldog 24

MSU–17
The game would probably be a huge blowout if we had bulletin board material like Troy’s coach gave us. Since we don’t HOGS-38 bulldogs-10
Lots of interesting prognostications. I go with a close game with Arkansas 34 and Miss. State 31. State generally gives the Hogs a good game. If Mallett sticks with his touch, this game could get ugly for State. Who knows which D will show up for Arkansas.
