Game Predictions — South Carolina

Congratulations to Goporkers for the closest prediction last week of 61-23. His quote: “We’re 38 point favorites. And since we give up 23 points when we win, it’s simple, really.”
Seriously…we think Goporkers might be Mr. Spock. The pure dispassionate logic of that prediction — fascinating. Congrats, Goporkers…we’ll beam your RBN t-shirt to you via subspace channels. Live long and prosper.
As for this week, it doesn’t take much logic to realize it’s ‘do or die time’ for the Hogs. Win and the rest of the season stays interesting. Lose and we all start going to watch Razorback basketball games. Then again…maybe we don’t do that, either.
If anyone needs a quick refresher on how we judge the winner of our little weekly contest, you can check the rules here. So here we go:
Walking on Sunshine: Injuries to the Carolina offensive line and secondary may really start to show up this week. However, we should not underestimate Eric Norwood and the Gamecock front seven — they are very good. If the Hogs can pressure Garcia and protect Mallett, it should make for a fun day in the Ozarks. Arkansas 31, South Carolina 28.
HogBaller: The Hogs continue their march towards bowl eligibility with a big win over the Gamecocks. Arkansas 42, South Carolina 24.
HogBlogger: The Ole Ball Coach calls up some ball plays that take advantage of the ‘give up the big play’ habits of the Razorback defense. The Hog offense sputters a bit too much under pressure. Hope I’m totally wrong. South Carolina 31, Arkansas 24.
TipsterHog: Play this game in mid-September and it’s no contest. But injuries and suspensions to the Gamecocks’ defense give the Hogs just enough of an opening to begin salvaging what’s left of the conference season. Arkansas 28, South Carolina 20.
Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick. And feel free to add your own take like “It’s a morning game but Spurrier can still play 18 holes afterward” or “This time we pass for 541 yards. Hogs roll.”

Repeat after me…..We can do it! We can do it!
The New Ball Coach-38
The Old Ball Coach-27
Hogs win 38-31 but the game isn’t as close as the score indicates.
One and Only Hogs 28
USC-East 24
Hogs31-14
Joe Adams is a beast for the rest of the year. 2 more TD’s for him and its time for D. Johnson to take one “yard” again.
This could be a big win for the Hogs, maybe even better than 2007 when we ran all over the place. This time we pass AND run better than expected and the defense is good enough.
Arkansas 38
South Carolina 17
Hogs need this win in a bad way, and I think CBP’s guys are hungry to beat a good team after last week’s cupcake. Another Carolina late-season meltdown is upon us.
Hogs 35
G’cocks 27
I like the old ball coach and sort of pull for the Gamecocks in the east. But I could care less about thier program this week and if a Razorback win forces the South Carolina faithful to ask for his resignation, then so be it!!!!
USC EAST 23
RAZOR PIGS 31
I agree with WoS for this weeks game.
UofA – 31
USC – 28
Hog secondary shows how bad they are against
first true passing attack since Georgia. Hog running backs
run wild. Close high scoring. Hogs 56 usc 52. Anthony Leon with a late pick
to seal it
Big time confidence builder. This program is just getting better. Saturday we see signs of what’s to come.
Hogs 42
USC 21
Not especially confident, but because I love my Hogs.
Hogs 34
SC 21
Hogs find their run game; they’ll need it.
Arkansas 31-17
Hogs- 51 USC- 15
or the other way- wither way I am dislexic
I’m thinking that this won’t be the scoring event of the century as many are predicting. But Spurrier’s MO is that they will keep us close or be ahead until the fourth quarter. Then the gamecocks will collapse in a fashion similar to most of their 2nd half losses over the past few years
Hogs – 24
The Original USC – 21
USC will try to blitz, but the o line will do it’s best job of the year, and the running game keeps on running. Mallet has another big day and the defense keeps up the intensity from practice.
Hogs 42
SC 17
Hogs 31

Return of Adams and Smith. Smells like fried chicken baby.
A Haiku from the Great Northwest:
Gamecocks will fall short,
Late in the season they fail,
Razorbacks triumph.
Hogs:38
Gamecocks: 20
Let’s see? Mallett doesnt seem to have his best games when there is this f=kind of preasure so I will say………..
Hogs 26
USC 24
Hogs 49
Cocks 24
Sticking with the tried and true formula…
Razorbacks 28
Gamey Chickens 23
Did you ever see one of those Star Trek episodes with Harry Mudd?
Spurrier is ALMOST as annoying as Harry Mudd.
Hogs 45
SC 28
Watch out for Joe Adams…
SC comes in half-Cocked; AR’s got Game:
Porkers-38
Poultry-35
I’m not sure what to expect here but I just have a feeling the Hogs continue to light up the scoreboard at home. Lowest output at home so far is 41. Let’s hope the streak stays alive.
Hogs 41
SC 26
More defense than expected.
Hogs 24
USC 10
Go Hogs Go!
Hogs: 33
Gamecocks: 23
I’ll go with
Hogs 31
Team before Troy 26
Norwood scares me to death, but I think Mathews being out makes it alot easier for our line to focus on him. Mallett and his receivers have been awful against really good defenses, but I think they turn things around and hang one on Usc. D isn’t particularly impressive, but good enough.
Hogs-38
Clucks-27
Ark: 48
USC: 44
A shootout that goes into overtime. A Mallett TD pass in overtime wins it.
