I say it’s about time our luck changed and we were at the other end of a close game – it wasn’t pretty, but I’ll give our guys credit for forcing 35-45 yard field goals rather than 20 yard chip shots.

Don’t forget this is our first bowl win in at least 5 years. Try to enjoy it.

Not even close…as for Mallett being a ‘choker’. How many catchable balls did his receivers drop in the first half alone? Mallett never has a good game when his targets don’t catch (check it out, I imagine those trying times would neatly coincide with your list of Mallett’s ‘choke’ games…). I’m certainly glad he rose above his ‘natural tendencies’ to throw that long TD in the third. For my money Rtan can stick around one more year, at least.

If this statement were even remotely true, ECU wouldn’t have had to rely on their kicker as they would have scored TDs instead.

Personally, I’m still blaming our poor performance on a poor bowl! Lets see… nasty weather in Memphis or great weather inside of a dome stadium in Dallas (even if it is associated with the Cowboys). Better yet… how about some of the BCS locations… come on Hogs – let’s BCS next year!

Thank goodness Matt Harris was sent home and his replacement scored seven points and had a heckuva game.

Glad Tejada finally made it when it counted, although the other kickers tally for the night made Tejada’s 2 for 3 look quite the pro.

Matt didn’t even play up to SEC standards tonight much less the NFL. He needs to get his head out of the sky and get his ass to work. Quit bitchin at your receivers as much would be a good New Years Resolution as well.

For the Hogs offense: 0-13 on third-down. One (count em, 1) offensive TD.

The Hogs defense “won” this game. Who’da thunkit? The Pirates outplayed the Hogs in every phase of the game except FGs.

The feeling was much better last year after beating LSU in the final game while failing to qualify for a bowl. Despite Petrino’s claims to the contrary, the Hogs were not prepared to win this game.

As Razored says, media hype should not be a problem when preparing for next season. And this is good. Perhaps the players will focus on improving their game.

After being a harsh critic of Willy all season, I was impressed by his adjustments over the course of the game. Our defense finally won a game for us, even if was a non SEC team, albeit the top C-USA team.

I think given Mallett’s average game hurts any prospect of him going in the draft. Lots of things to look forward to next year!
