Hogs looking better and better as the day goes on. If we can Barnett and Jones in school, our defensive line will look better as these guys grow and mature.
Looks like Rivals has our DT class ranked 3rd as a unit. If they got nothing else, that was one area of desperate need.
Only five guys from the great state of Arkansas. That’s sad.
Yeah, but can’t say I’m real broke up about it…we simply have to get away from this pervasive parochial outlook. It will eventually hamstring us if we don’t. If the players can be found in Arkansas, so be it; but if not, get them wherever they are.
Btw, this is a fan problem far more than it is a staff problem.
I agree that you have to get players from wherever you can find them. My concern is why Arkansas high schools aren’t producing more Div. I college players. (Arkansas State signed only six in-state kids.) It seems to indicate that HS football culture isn’t as strong in AR as it is in neighboring states. Or is it because AR is a small, poor state with a lot of small poor schools with small, poor football programs? Just wondrin’.
Yeah. Noticed fall in instate guys. All we need to do is look at two stats:
1. Weather….rain, snow, temp; and
2. Population. Our beloved state has , um, 2.5 mill?
All the experts are saying that Arkansas will produce bumper crops of prospects for both basketball and football next year. I do not personally care where they come from as long as they come. I graduated from high school in Tennessee and had never been on the UofA campus prior to my arrival for registration and I am proud to say I am a lifelong Hog!
Glad to have ya, Tennessee. Hope you’re right about next year’s crops. As a native Arkansan, I’m given to thinking there are thousands of Arkansas high school players who are working their asses off with the dream of playing for the Razorbacks and making the state and their hometowns proud. I know a few in-state prospects got away (Dyer to Auburn is the only one I could name offhand; I don’t keep up with HS recruiting), but Arkansas doesn’t appear to produce it’s per capita share of bigtime players. Or perhaps there are a lot of players who get overlooked because they attend small schools, players who would develop if they had the opportunity and the competition.
