I like our recruiting class. I also believe we met our needs.
It seems a lot of people on some other Razorback blogs weren't so happy with the rankings, but I say HAWG WASH!!
If anyone knows what they are doing, it's Bobby Petrino.

Some of his past lowly-rated Louisville classes were recently re-evaluated by some of the recruiting services and came out rated very high.
This is just 1 example of what I'm talking about:

In this years class, athlete Daunte Carr rated as low as a 2 star by 1 recruiting service and a 3 star by another, but Louisiana based recruiting guru Max Emfinger gave another low-down on this kid.
He said Carr was an early commit to Stanford, but didn't quite have his grades where he needed them. He then focused on his grades/ACTs, etc..., while neglecting to engage with many of the super camps that most highly rated recruits attend to get the nessesary recruiting exposure.

Max Emfinger was very impressed with Carr after a local camp he attended late with some of his team mates. In his opinion, Carr is a very, very under-rated football player. Something like 6'2", 205. 38 inch vertical. 4.5 speed. Very strong too. More than likely projects to be a FS or SS.

Thanks T-towner. Been too busy! I have too many interests--much more than I have time for, including blogging with some folks up in Canada. And I expect to be tremendously busy this year. This is always an exciting time of the year and I would love to hear from other regular Hog bloggers' thoughts. Coaching is a tough profession. Yes, they get paid big bucks but they are human and are only doing what the market calls for.
After all, if fans and the AD no longer wants them (i.e. T. Bowden, T. Tubberville, Leach), coaches gets the boot. As Lou Holts told me once, when I lucked into getting him on the phone one time: He said: "I am going to take care of my family. Bo Rein died and fans (presumably North Carolina) are not concerned for his family and now he is gone. I should have taken the Florida job and the next time, I will be gone." He was right because all of us make decisions based upon what our needs are now and in the future, but unfortunately AD Broyles pulled the plug on him, but he went on to win a national championship at ND. Amazing. Also, witness what old man Bowden did. WVA was giving him a hard time, and he smartly left and what he did at Florida State is a fantastic history. Unfortunately for him, like Broyles, Bowden had a hard time leaving for retirement. Go Hogs! Beating AU was sweet today!

I've been VERY happy with the job Petrino has done thus far. The extra attention paid to the defensive side of the ball (especially the D line) should pay dividends in the future if not right away. Most true freshmen won't be ready to come in and make an immediate impact as a D lineman or linebacker, but who knows... there might be a guy or two in this class who can contribute right away.

I don't really care what the ranking services have to say about our class. I can't wait for football season to start. We were pretty good last year, but LOOK OUT... the HOGS are going to be A LOT better this year. It should be a fun time to be a Razorback fan!!!! WPS

Seems to me that Coach Petrino has met needs...defense. Hopefully (desperately), some of the new ones can make an immense difference from the git go and if so Hogs should roll! I do not think that we can criticize the class because recruiting guru's also have many busts in their rankings, witness some of recent publicity. I trust the coaches to know what they need and are getting. Yes, it does energize the fans to see higher rankings and I even thought that this year we would see higher recruiting rankings (on paper) but I think that the coaches know what they need. It takes a while to get the talent that this coaching staff wants on board. Be patient. Is there any other solution other than have patience?
