Every so often, inspiration hits you like a baseball bat swung by Tony Soprano. Well…maybe not exactly like that. But stick with us for a minute while we recount a brief story of inspiration.
Earlier this summer, our very own Sunshine was searching the web for a company to print our new RBN t-shirts. As many of you know, for the past three years we’ve given away a free t-shirt to our weekly predictions winner. Granted…not exactly a Cadillac Eldorado or even a set of steak knives. But then again, we’re not exactly raking in buckets of cash running our little enterprise here.
Our previous shirt design was nice…and boring. But this time, the company we chose (who did a great job, by the way) had the perfect piece of artwork that we wanted to use: a chalkboard with a simple football play formation on it. But hmmm…what message should we put above the artwork on the back of the shirt?
And that’s when inspiration hit…some of you may see where this is headed. Allow us to present the latest in RBN casual wear:

We could think of no better way to express our obsessive need to pontificate on all things Razorback than to paraphrase our old buddy Houston Dale: “We called that play Brotha.” (And he sure called some good ones last Saturday, huh?)
So congratulations to reader Suds Hinton for the closest prediction last week of 45-6. A spiffy new RBN t-shirt is headed your way. Suds’ quote…well…actually Suds had no quote. C’mon man! We’re handing out free t-shirts here…a little more effort next time, please?!
So here we go:
Walking on Sunshine: Although this is a step up to a FBS school, the outcome will not be in doubt. ULM is young and rebuilding. The Hogs correct the penalties and turnovers that stunted several drives last week, and the Little Rock crowd does the rest. Bring on the Bulldogs! Arkansas 45, Louisiana-Monroe 14.
HogBaller: The Razorback offense doesn’t wait as long to get it going this time. D.J. Williams and Joe Adams continue to show up, while the running game blossoms with Knile Davis emerging from the pack. The defense picks up where it left off against TTU. The backups see plenty of playing time, and the quarterback play from Wilson and Mitchell will be much improved. Mitchell begins to show why he is the QB of the future. Arkansas 51, Louisiana-Monroe 3.
HogBlogger: The offense gets it going early and the Hogs practice the run in the 4th quarter. Arkansas 52, Louisiana-Monroe 10.
TipsterHog: Only at ULM would they fire a head coach with a 31-51 record to hire a coach with a 29-60 record. Next coach of the Warhawks: Lane Kiffin. Arkansas 49, Louisiana-Monroe 9.
Leave a comment with your name, e-mail address and pick. And feel free to add your own take like “Couch burning strictly prohibited during RazorRock” or “Angry birds foiled by evil pigs. Hogs roll.”

Hogs roll 51-6. Defense gets Turnovers and Joe Adams continues to dominate and Brandon Mitchell gets his first TD as a Razorback. Got to have that shirt.
The mistakes are cleaned up and the Hogs storm into Little Rock ready to hang 60 on somebody. This will be the game.
Hogs 62
LMU 6
Wingo rushes for 75 yard in the first half. Its Wrights turn this week, he scores 3 TD. Williams as 80 yrds receiving. D.D. Jones goes crazy this week.
Tipster funny line about Kiffin I don't care who you are!!!!!!!!!
Earlier start for the Hogs in this one, and the defense continues to impress: Hogs 41, ULM 7.
A rompin' in the Rock… Hogs takes AWAY "home" field advantage from ULM early. Hogs win 51-10.
War Memorial crowd shines. Kinks will be worked out. Competition for running back gives our backs the motivation to have a big night. Lots of big running plays – sets up perfect for big passing plays.
Hogs – 69
LM – 6
Hogs – 50
LM – 2 (why 2? Why not:P)
BTW – couldn't you have found a "super model" to show off your new shirt? I mean, come on!!
That was their "super model"
Playing ULM never seems as easy at it sounds on paper. Hopefully, they can show us some more areas to shore up before SEC play begins:
Hogs – 38
ULM – 17
Hogs win 48-14. Running game finds life and the d continues to gain confidence, but gives up a long TD. I like Leon to get 2 sacks in this one. GHG!
Defense turns in another good performance against a lesser team giving up one field goal per half.
Hogs – 52
Hawks – 6
Did you have to gall all price is right on me
Defense will give up 1 TD this week, but the Hogs offense will roll.
Hogs 59, ULM 10
Thanks Suds!
Hogs 42-3. Defense continues to impress and builds momentum heading into UGA game. Mallett goes 15-20 with 3 TDs before giving way to backups, who do much better this week.
I think that we do get started early but without any knowledge of there game plan they manage to get a couple of scores on our defense. Our defense tightens up in the second half holding them to a field goal. Look for Hamilton to have a big game. Hogs 55-17
Hogs roll, but still give up a big play or two.
UA – 45
ULM – 13
Hogs keep on rockin in the Rock! Razorbacks win 52-10.
Hogs 59
ULM 7
The Hog train rolls into the Rock and rolls out with another 'W'
Hogs – 56
ULM – 10
Go Hogs Go!
I say it time for Willy to get his shutout!
Hogs 52
UL-M Zip, nada, nothing, zero, vacuum, etc.
Same prediction as last week…
Hogs 44 – 10
Dang T Towner, you took my pick. I'm going with 42-0.
The defense will still have a chip on their shoulders, and have more confidence after last weeks game. They want to maintain a streak of no TDs given up this year!
Nothing to be said on offense. Petrino could hang 100 on em if he played starters the entire game.
ULM- 19
Hogs- 64
Another sign! And auburn loses tonight
Hogs 55
ULM 13
Ark: 48
ULM: 0
We pitch a shutout while the second string offense, which plays part of the third and all the fourth quarter, keeps the score from being 63-0. UGA sans Green beware! (I just hope they beat SC as we might have two weeks in a row of ESPN's Gameday–the UGA/UArk game is the only one that week between ranked opponents as of this week's rankings.)
Greg Childs shows his athleticism with 2 TDs, Joe gets another one, Leon has two more sacks and continues the dominance in his new position, and we see the freshman Hocker kick a 50 yard FG.
Hogs 52
ULM – 6
Roll Baby Roll
Hogs: 47
Hawks: 7
42-10 Hogs.
FBS school actually gets in the end zone against the first string defense, and the RB's hang on to the ball this week. As I think somebody said earlier, the 2nd and 3rd team offense is the reason we don't put up 60+.
It shouldn't take more than a quarter for Mallett to get into the end zone this week. The Hogs score early and often and either Wilson or Mitchell or both come up with a 4th Quarter TD drive. The Hogs also try a FG or 2 this week.
Hogs 55
La-M 7
Grind it out and work that offensive line and work on the running game.
Hogs 42
ULM 14
Can Arkansas ring up 60+ points? yes
Can Arkansas keep ULM out of the endzone? Likely
Will the crowd at War Memorial have an effect on ULM? Yes
will this being the first game for ULM have an effect on their performance? Probably
However, Petrino still wants to see what his reserves can do, especially the QBs. He also wants to keep something off the table for Georgia, which is the game of importance. Rather than going for it on 4th and short Petrino might like to see what his FG kickers can do, especially over 40 yards. The players will play hard since there is still competition for positions on the depth chart. With that:
Arkansas 44
ULM 6 (two FG)
52-27 Hogs.
Arkansas rolls to victory, but too many 2nd half scores by La-Mo gets Petrino pissed heading into GA game and the arm-chair quarterbacks 2nd-guessing our "D".
Tejada and Hocker each get a field goal.
The reserves get some time but let ULM score.
Arkansas 48
ULM 10
Another easy game. The Hogs start much better this time, while ULM has the first-game jitters. Our defense will get 5 turnovers, and keep ULM out of the endzone. Mallet will be done by halftime. Our running game will untrack and have a hundred-yard rusher. We will score a td on a kickoff or punt. And our kickers will be 3 for 3 on field goals. I think Jimdogg is right: Arkansas 44-ULM 6
The Hawgs – 48, Those little humming birds – 7
The defense will pick up where it left off with Tenn. Tech. The birds won't score until the Hawg defensive reserves hit the field.
Tejada will go 2 for 2 on FGs and booms a few more KOs into the endzone, while young Mr. Hocker connects on the conversion kicks once again.
Ryan and D.J. will control the little birdie defense with the short passing game, while Pimp Daddy Joe Adams continues to demonstrate in dominating fashion why he is simply "the man".
Arkansas 59
ULM 13
Knile Davis explodes with a 100 yard game rushing and Greg Childs steps up and has a 100 yard recieving game. And Brandon Mitchell shows up Tyler Wilson in mop-up duty.
48-6 Arkansas, all the kinks get worked out before georgia.. hopefully
Vanilla offense (keep the pistol in the holster until UGA) = Hogs 35 NLU 3
In keeping with tradition the Hogs D. gives up the big play, then another one.
WarHogs 49
Warhawks 10
(I think Tipster chose the winning score.)
Another fine performance
Us – 39
them – 12
I think it would be nice to have an open blog to discuss other SEC games.
I have some thoughts on the game last night.
1. I wasn't terribly impressed by either state or Auby last night. If we don't show up we could lose to either team, but neither one should be able to handle us.
2. Gus gets too cute for his own good some times. He reminds me of Hootie in that way. Why would you put Newton at WR and put Burns at QB. I understood it when Todd was the QB, so by putting Burns at QB you gave yourself a running threat, but this year Burns doesn't run or throw as well as Newton and Newton doesn't run routes as well as Burns so what is being accomplished.
3. My other thought on Gus is that I've never seen him pose a threat throwing the ball down the field. Everything is hot read and creative running plays, two things he really is good at, but I don't think you have a balanced offense unless you can threaten all areas of the field and I don't see that from them.
4. Dyer is the real deal and scares the hell out of me for the future.
5. I think Newton has a 50% chance of still being on the field when we play them. He takes way too many hits.
Alright, that's my 2 cents on that game.
I agree Carolina.
Auburn scared me before I saw the game last night..I suppose I bought into the hype, but after watching last night I'm not worried about either team. Miss St doesn't look that much improved over last year – if you stop the option you're golden, since their WR have hands of stone and Relf can't throw the ball accurately. Thing is, if Miss St had even an average passing attack they would have killed Auburn. Auburn's D looks like it did last year, maybe even a little worse in the secondary. All those wide open recievers Miss St had and the dropped balls? Good grief…
I agree on Cam Newton – when he finally gets hit by a real linebacker (can't wait to see Leon wail on him) he may not be as willing to take off. I think if you put pressure on him and put a spy on him they are done. When Miss St dialed up pressure in the pocket Newton got panicky. When he had time to sit in the pocket he had very easy throws given Miss St's weak secondary. I think by the time we play them Gus will have figured out how to get Dyer in the open field, just like Nutt did with McCluster last year. But Auburn is certainly one dimensional right now on offense with a weak defense.
Soupd,
You nailed my other thought from last night and that is that Mallett and our receivers will pick that secondary apart. You'll pay for busted coverages against us. In spite of how ineffective he was, that's why MSU kept trying to play Russell because they knew if they could make a decent pass down the field it was their game for the taking.
Pretty good 2 cents. During the game I thought that using two QBs for Auburn was to help Newton, for as you say, he takes a lot of hits He's a former JC QB and this was the first time he had to face SEC linemen. They can hit. My feeling is that neither QB has the experience nor ability, at this point in time, to make this work. Consistency gets lost. Neither the Tigers nor the Dogs are going to be pushovers, however, but if our O line gives Mallett time, he and the receivers should pick their defenses apart. Chizik and Malzahn must have gotten nervous and cold feet to bring out the trick play so early in the season. In the future it might lead to some in the stands to start betting as to who is going to throw the incomplete pass. And your right, Dyer is scary and may be the key to Auburn's future success. The Dog's are a ways away but by the time the Hogs get em there will be a pretty good book on Newton. As the English would say, my ha'penny.
Running game breaks free. Passing game shines. Hogs 63-17.
Hogs: 34
ULM: 3
Hogs: 52
ULM: 9
Mallet will continue to impress with his improved accuracy & will go off for 6 (count'em 6) TDs. The Rock will be cranking like always & with the game starting at 6:00pm you can bet your bottom dollar you'll see somebody passed out in a ditch on the way back to your ride after the game.
HOGS-50
Other Guys-9
PS-Juice is a BEAST!
Hogs 71 Ulm 9
Hogs roll 52-13
Looking forward to the real games starting next week!
If the UA cleans up the miscues on offense and you know P and GM will handle that then Mallet and his guys will quickly ring up at least 6-7 TDs. The 2s on "O" and the defense will be lathered-up for better performances. "D" plays fast and physical and still unscored on … 6 sacks, 3-4 TOs – 1 scoop-n-score???!!! … Mitchell will lead the 2's to a score and spec's are solid on all fronts gaining big yardage while yielding little and maybe it gets in on the act as well – jersey#3!!! O plays on a short field all game … Nothing is revealed as the Pistol is still secured for now… And WHEW … no one get injuried… Add it up …hmmm… UA 69 ULM 9.
Arkansas 57
ULM 13
Arkansas should have second team offense in better shape this week.
