Fortson Declares For NBA Draft

Sophomore point guard Courtney Fortson has decided to declare for the 2010 NBA Draft, but has not hired an agent, Arkansas head men’s basketball coach John Pelphrey said on Sunday afternoon.

After watching numerous NCAA Tournament games over the past four days, I’ve come to a very basic conclusion: If the Hogs don’t get taller, longer and wider, they are not going to get any better.

Arkansas 87, LSU 52

Starting guards Courtney Fortson and Rotnei Clarke combined for 33 points Wednesday night as Arkansas defeated LSU, 87-52.

Arkansas 82, Auburn 79 (OT)

Courtney Fortson scored 24 points — including nine in a row late in overtime — to lead Arkansas over Auburn 82-79 on Saturday.

Arkansas 72, Georgia 68

Courtney Fortson scored 27 points, including five free throws in the last 40 seconds, and Arkansas wiped out a big halftime deficit to beat Georgia 72-68 on Wednesday night.

Arkansas 67, Mississippi State 62

Courtney Fortson scored a career-high 35 points, carrying Arkansas through the second half as the Razorbacks rallied for a 67-62 win over Mississippi State on Thursday night.

‘A’ For Effort

Tuesday night’s Texas game was the most enjoyable Razorback basketball game I’ve attended since around this time last year.

Pelphrey Announces Player Suspensions

University of Arkansas men’s head basketball coach John Pelphrey announced the details of game suspensions made in conjunction with disciplinary actions for members of his team Tuesday afternoon.

White 35, Red 26

Freshman Marshawn Powell scored 19 points for the Red team, but it was the 1-2 combination of Mike Washington and Courtney Fortson who lead the White team to a 35-26 victory in Friday night’s annual Red-White game at Bud Walton Arena.
