Sophomore pitchers Ryne Stanek and Barrett Astin led Arkansas to a 2-1 victory over South Carolina in the winner’s bracket of the College World Series on Monday night.

Ryne Stanek threw seven shutout innings and Barrett Astin closed it out as Arkansas defeated Rice, 1-0 to advance to the regional final of the NCAA Houston Regional.

Eight of the nine Arkansas starters had at least one hit and Arkansas reliever Barrett Astin struck out all 10 batters he retired as the Razorbacks defeated Mississippi State, 6-1, on Saturday night.
